Denise is a hugely talented artist. She did henna painting for me of a phoenix on my arm and hand with a quotation up the side. Design all over the hand. Not an easy design to execute. It was effortless for her. She was right on time. She is a fascinating woman - almost goddess like I thought. I hope I have occasion to use her many more times. She is completely amazing. A very talented artist who listens to what you want and can deliver your vision. Jane

Vaishali was wonderful! She arrived on time, went right to work on the mommy-to-be's tummy, which turned out beautifully, then moved through our crowd of people swiftly and pleasantly. Her art is beautiful. Vaishali is a very talented and quick artist who gets along with everyone. She pleasantly agreed to stay a bit longer to finish all the henna requests! We loved having her and would recommend her to anyone looking for a skilled, very qualified henna artist. Everyone at our baby shower thought the experience was the BEST!

I hired Claudia for my twin daughters' birthday party. She was so professional, showed up on time & entertained my guests with her brilliant painting skills. Young or old, everyone at the party got their face painted. What sets her apart from other face painting that I've seen is the art. She truly is an artist...not some cheesy 3 color stencil art. I'd highly recommend her work to friends as well as hire her again =)

Loved my Cool Henna Tattoo - I picked an image and Rozine meticulously, but quickly, applied the henna and then sprinkled it with a glitter in the color of my choice (aqua), which keeps the henna from smearing and is pretty and sparkly. When the glitter came off, I had a beautiful henna tattoo - it lasted a long time and I received so many compliments!

She was hired for my daufhters 16th Birthday party and both of my daughters ages 13 & 16 said "she was amazing and went above and beyond their expection in her designs". Personally for me, she was very pleasant and she won't leave until every guest received a henna design. I would definitely recommend her and she provided the best price in my research.

Jazzy is not only an amazing artist but a wonderful and kind woman to work with and be around. Her face painting has won more than a few awards and it is easy to see why. There has never been a painting of hers that made me wonder "what is that?" I highly recommend Jazzy to anyone looking for a face painter.

    About

My work stands out through the quality and time put into the training. I'm a professionally trained makeup artist and face painter. I have trained many Southern California artists including Knott's Berry Farm and Disneyland face painters. I've obtained early childhood development credits and know how to work well with young children. My customer care is A+ as Disneyland has taught me well.

    About

I do clean work in a safe environment and free touch up work. Do you ever walk into a tattoo shop and walk out feeling like the guys working there are huge a-holes? It happens alot. I'm A Custom artist so the consultation process is one of the most important parts of my job. We don't start your tattoo until you and I both are completely satisfied that you are getting what you will be happy with for life. I love custom vivid color, but I am well rounded and even do black and gray portrait work. My portfolio is on display for all to see and I take alot of pride in what I do so that you can be proud of your new tattoo!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How long does a henna tattoo stay on?

Typically a henna tattoo stays on anywhere from one to three weeks. Henna artists work with henna paste, also called mehndi, which dyes the skin for a short period of time. An important part of Indian culture, the use of henna has become increasingly popular in the United States, with henna artists providing henna tattoos for weddings, as event entertainment and for other special events. Henna artists typically apply their designs to the palms and backs of the hands, the wrists, up to the elbows, and from the feet up to the knees. To preserve the rich color of your henna tattoo and help it set, avoid water as much as possible within the first 24 hours of application. The color will be richest during the first week. Brides may want to have their henna tattoos applied one or two days before the wedding for optimal results.

What is the meaning behind henna tattoos?

Henna tattoos, as they are called in the United States, have a long tradition in Indian, African and Middle Eastern cultures. For centuries, the leaves of dried henna plants have been ground into a fine paste to be used as a temporary and nontoxic skin dye. This form of body decoration has been used in celebrations, weddings and ceremonial rites of passage in many cultures. Often in Hindu weddings, henna artists decorate the hands and feet of the bride (and at times the groom) with intricate designs. In some Muslim traditions, henna artists paint women with henna designs as they are in their final stages of pregnancy. In the United States, popular culture has adopted this beautiful body art and henna artists provide brides (and sometimes grooms) with temporary henna tattoos. Henna artists are also a popular choice for entertainment at corporate events, birthday parties, bachelorette parties and festivals. Henna artists may charge anywhere from $10 to $300 per hour.

How much does it cost to get a henna tattoo?

Nationally, the average cost to hire a henna artist is between $100 and $180 per hour. Rates will vary by location and the experience of the individual henna artist; it’s possible to find artists who charge less than $50 per hour. Some henna artists charge an hourly rate, especially for corporate events or festivals where they are providing service to multiple people within an hour. They may also charge flat rates for bridal and wedding services or special events. Here are some examples of average cost:

    • Hourly rate: $65-$85 or more per hour. Price is dependent on event size and number of attendees.
    • Starting rate for minimal palm designs: $15 or more.
    • Henna tattoos covering the hands and wrist and bottom of feet up to the ankle: $175.
    • Henna tattoos covering the hands to the mid-arm and feet to above the ankle: $300.
    • Henna tattoos covering the hands to the elbow and the feet to the knee: $450.

i have images for theTree of life with 3 small doves and divergent path possibly beginning at the tricep. Then a sun and praetorian shield on the bicep and some mix of starry night/4 seasons motif with sun, moon, and stars, and clouds in pic as beginning point (possibly mountain scene with tree including snow, fall, summer, spring etc). Not sure how realistic the vision is. Thanks.
