Made an appointment for some repairs at my elderly parents' house. On the day of the appointment, I took time off from work and drove 50 miles to be there for the scheduled appointment. 20 minutes before the scheduled time, I received a call that Mike had been working on an emergency leak that morning and canceled my appointment. I understand that emergencies arise but if he were on a project all morning and not close to finishing, why not give a one-hour (or more) notice instead of 20 minutes? I had a feeling that he was going to flake and I was right. When I messaged him on Thumbtack, he asked me to call his office to schedule the appointment but gave me his cell number instead of the office number. Each time I called his office I had to leave a voicemail and every time my call was returned, his "secretary" said that she had been on the other line. When she did give me a date and time, she seemed hesitant. I thought about calling the day before to confirm, but I assumed that if Mike was not going to make the appointment he would be decent enough to give me advance notice. I wonder how repair people would feel if they drove to my house at the scheduled time and I was not at home. I'm tired of dealing with flaky repair people who waste my time. In addition to completing the job quickly, Mixhael Vargas was able to fix a slow leak in my other bathroom with materials that he kept in stock on his truck.
