Diane was a wonderful Spanish tutor. Teaching a new language to a hearing impaired student is a challenge to most teachers but she came prepared with different modalities and materials to accommodate my hearing impairment. She was also open to suggestions and incorporated them into the lessons. I learned useful vocabulary as well as traditional language building techniques. Diane was flexible and willing to accommodate scheduling sessions to meet life’s busy days. I would definitely recommend Diane as a Spanish instructor.

Rebecca has been tutoring both my daughters for a couple years now. It has made a tremendous difference in their overall performance in Algebra/Geometry/Algebra 2, but most importantly increased their confidence levels. Rebecca is very knowledgeable and has a gift for teaching that has been instrumental in changing my daughters' attitude toward math. I highly recommend Rebecca!

The individualized attention and lessons my son is receiving have really helped him grow. He's doing better in school, has more confidence and is actually enjoying his tutoring time. I've seen such an improvement in his short time with his tutor. I'm so happy we made this investment.

My daughter had summer homework for her honors English class. Kassandra worked with her and two of her friends once a week throughout the summer. Kasandra worked out a summer lesson plan to make sure they read the book, but more importantly she made sure they fully understood their homework and related the classic literature to modern storytelling they could all understand. They all had a great time working with Kassandra and and enjoyed learning their summer work. I highly recommend Something Old Something New Tutoring.

My daughter does not enjoy math. This year, as a freshman, she was given an unusual math class (Algebra) where the lesson is to be learned at home via YouTube videos and the homework would be done in class. In theory it sounds like a great idea, however, if you’re partially through a lesson plan and you have a question or if you are confused it’s very hard to continue. Especially in math. Lisa has been my daughters tutor for most of this school year and some of the last school year. She is wonderful!! She connects with the kids so well, she is patient and explains things in a way my child understands. My daughter truly enjoys working with her and it’s nice having her come to our house. As a parent, I appreciate her competitive prices and her flexibility. We’ve tried other places – Lisa is far away the best. My daughter was really struggling. Lisa was the missing link in getting her and keeping her up to speed. I would recommend Lisa to any parent looking for a math tutor for their child.

We have used Ben to tutor two of our kids in Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. He is good at making difficult math concepts easy to understand. He is encouraging and will patiently work concepts from many angles until the student has a firm grasp of the material.

Meghan has a very comprehensive style of tutoring that combines several ways to work out problems and equations. I have always struggled in Algebra until I had Meghan for a tutor. Whether it is statistics or mathematics, Meghan explores every method to solve every problem that corresponds with the student's understanding and full grasp of the lesson. Everybody learns differently and that is why she prepares her lesson plans, outside of scheduled tutoring sessions, according to the student's specific learning needs before each tutoring session. Overall, it has been a pleasure to have Meghan as a tutor and I feel she will be beneficial to any student that needs her help. She is a little pricey, but she is worth every single penny! Even though Algebra is my weakest subject, I went from a grade of D to passing the course with an A-.

My daughter just started her freshman year and was struggling in Algebra. My daughter started seeing Mrs. Wong about four sessions ago and my daughter’s grade already improved by one grade. Mrs. Wong is truly amazing! She is very patient and clear in explaining concepts. In just a couple of sessions, my daughter felt confident in Algebra. I highly recommend Mrs. Wong as a tutor for all the students who live in the Sacramento area. Mrs. Wong is not only very clear in teaching Algebra, she is fun too! Mrs. Wong is a blessing!

Jennifer Wagner tutored my daughter in Algebra and Algebra 2 over 2 school years. She is an excellent tutor and I recommend her without hesitation. Jennifer presented math in a non-threatening way that enabled my daughter to learn and progress in ways she had never been able to in the classroom. Most regular classroom teachers only know one way to teach, and math is not a one-size-fits-all subject. I know that many students struggling with math also have severe confidence problems when it comes to math, which further hinders their progress. Jennifer not only understands all that, but she finds a way to present the material without making the student feel like they are somehow inadequate. Jennifer Wagner is an outstanding tutor! You will never regret having her work with your student!

It was a pleasure to work with Ms Buller. She helped me with my pre-algebra lessons. We would meet either at her house or at a place close to both of us. She was always on time and very patient in helping me grasp some concepts I wasn't familiar with by explaining them in a straightforward, methodical way. In the 6 to 8 weeks she tutored me, my class grade went from a middle C to a high B which was my final grade. I am now eligible for Algebra I. I would recommend Ms. Buller to any struggling algebra student.

I primarily help students learn or develop their piano or clarinet skills. I have enjoyed playing these instruments for almost 12 years and have been fortunate enough to perform all over the United States. Math has a surprising connection to music. As a student of the agricultural sciences, I look forward to sharing my passion for art and math with you.

I teach beginning to intermediate folk, folk/rock, rock and pop guitar to all ages, both electric and acoustic. I can teach you any songs you want to learn and a wide variety of techniques of different strums, fingerpickings, open turnings, etc. I also know a great deal about 20th century music history, both American and British Isles that I love to share with people, for music is my passion. I grew up in the sixties and seventies in California and totally absorbed the music from that period. This led to a passion for music history including blues, bluegrass, old time and more. Basically, my own playing encompasses the broad spectrum of music known as Americana, and I have played with and been mentored by some of the finest musicians and songwriters of this vein. So, I have a wellspring of knowledge at my fingertips (no pun). I have been playing the guitar for over 40 years in both Southern and Northern California.
