Water Heater failed at 10:00pm fixed by 10:00am. All the things you want from a service professional - quality work, quality product (Bradford White) at a fair price and ON TIME. Great experience and yes I would hire again. Also installed plumbing for a drain pan I previously didn’t have and handled the extra hassle of a permit without question and delivered the permit on a second trip back to my house to install it with the water heater for the inspection. They will also discuss parts needed or not needed and will give you their opinion if you should replace them or not. If your wondering if you have to drive to a big box store and buy your water heater and pay to have it delivered - you don’t - they will bring it to you and also take the leaky, messy one away. A great experience and a call you should make if your like me mopping up a flooding garage with a bad water heater at 10:00pm.

We had an emergency on a Saturday when we discovered our water heater leaking. Ken came out in about an hour and replaced the water heater. Great service. Ken had everything up and running in about 4 or 5 hours including getting the new water heater for us and giving us operational instructions.

I hired Super Mario to replace my water heater but the technician quickly determined that I had a leaking pipe in the crawl space. They were able to repair the pipe and install the new water heater in the same visit. They kept me informed every step of the way. I was very impressed with their service and will definitely recommend them and hire them again. Great company!

Sid removed my old water heater and replaced it with one I bought from Lowe's. He even went down to the store to pick the unit up for me. He did a great job for a really reasonable price.

What can I say, he showed up he told how much it was, and he even charged me what he said from the beginning. After all was said and done I couldn't even tell if he did any work(aside of the new water heater). He left no mess. A strait forward no B.S. kinda guy. I'd definitely call him again. He just gets stuff done compared to the other companies that just beat around the Bush with prices.

Kevin is one helluva guy to have your work done by. He's a very busy man, and sometimes our time schedules conflicted, but in the end, when all was said and done, the work done was quality, the guy wasn't blowing smoke up your arse, and a plus is his talents, skills, and experience which cannot be surpassed by most of the "run of the mill" servicemen. Kevin is a general contractor and his abilities speak for themselves, making sure safety is primary, the work is done to code, and the rate is reasonable considering his expertise and experience. We highly recommend Kevin for any work you might need in and around your home. He provided the replacement of our water heater, diagnosed the issue with our faucet fixture in the kitchen and recommended replacement, of which we heeded. We are extremely satisfied with Kevin's work, knowledge and expertise. After all, he has been in this business for 25 years. Thank you, Kevin...you are a lifesaver!!! And, an added plus, is he's a dog man and our dogs loved him!

Thomas is no question the best plumber we have ever hired. He is now going to be our go-to for everything. Not only did this man do fantastic work on our tankless water heater installation, but the inspector actually said that he had never seen a better installation. He is hard working, fairly priced, punctual, professional and on top of all that probably one of the nicest guys you will ever talk to. What are you waiting for? Hire him now!

My hot water heater failed in a big way. I called Sidney and he came to assess it, told me what I already knew...needed a new one. We talked about options, whether to go with a traditional or tankless model, and I went traditional. Sid made a recommendation for a unit that I could get quickly, and it wasn't the most expensive one, either. My water heater sits in a tight corner, and required.removal of some pegboardsort that had tools hanging on them. Sid didn't even question or complain, he just did the work that was required. When it was done, everything was put back and he hauled off the old water heater. I'd recommend Sid to anyone. He's responsive and very responsible. I found him to be honest and he does good work.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

When is it time to replace a water heater?

Although regular water heater maintenance and water heater repair may extend the life of your hot water heater, it won’t last forever. Most water heaters have a life expectancy of about 10 years. Many water heaters need to be replaced when they’re 8-12 years old — that’s when they start to show signs of fatal wear, such as leaking around the base of the tank. A water heater should be replaced when it fails to sufficiently heat water for the home; if your heater is operating erratically, check first for a blown fuse or a tripped breaker to make sure an electrical issue isn’t causing the problem. Another time to replace a water heater is when you want to upgrade to either a larger model or a more energy-efficient one.

Why is my hot water not working?

The most common complaint among homeowners is that their hot water isn’t working — and the water heater is generally the culprit. Typically, it isn’t making the water as hot as you’d like it to be. When the water isn’t hot enough — or isn’t hot at all — run through this troubleshooting checklist for basic water heater repair tasks:

  • Make sure the power is connected to the heater, then reset the thermostat.
  • If it’s a gas water heater, make sure the pilot light is lit.
  • Raise the temperature setting on the thermostat.

If these stops don’t lead to hot water, it’s time to either check the heating element in an electric water heater or the burner unit and gas control valve in a gas-powered heater. A water heater repair and maintenance company can handle these repair jobs. However, if your hot water heater is eight years or older, it may be time to replace the water heater instead of repairing it.

Who can fix a water heater?

When a water heater stops running effectively, it’s best to hire a water heater repair professional to troubleshoot the problem. Whether it’s a plumbing company that offers water heater repair services or a provider specializing in water heater repair and maintenance, most repair companies offer same-day service as well as weekend and after-hours emergency calls. Usually, water heater repair professionals are experts in both electric and gas systems, as well as tank and tankless heaters, and can repair any kind of unit.

How much do new water heaters cost?

The cost of a new water heater depends largely on the type and size of the heater. The average national cost for a new water heater installation including a 40- to 50-gallon tank is $350-$780. Most homes don’t need larger tanks, but they are available — for a price. The average difference between a 50-gallon tank and a 75-gallon tank (the next most common size) ranges from $400 to $600. Hundred-gallon tanks are also available, and they can cost double or triple the price of a 50-gallon tank from the same manufacturer. New water heaters tend to be far more energy-efficient, so they can cut energy costs; homeowners may also be eligible for a new water heater rebate from their local utility company.

Typically, tankless water heaters, which heat water only when you need it, cost more but can save about 25 percent of annual water heating costs, on average. They also lose only 5 percent of their energy compared with a tank unit’s 30 percent energy loss. Note, too, that a water heater with a tank has a life expectancy of 10 years, while tankless units generally last about twice as long.

The final expense to consider is a possible disposal fee to get rid of the old water heater; some companies include it in the price, while others charge an average of $35-$150.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
