Mike was great. He was easy to book, showed up right ontime and was extremely flexible. Mike sent us a list of artists ahead so we were coordinated but he was also very approachable and did requests . We were having so much fun we extended Mike for an hour. He really added a lot to my sons wedding rehearsal dinner.

This band is definitely the best performance band that I have seen in the Sacramento area. The vocalists and the musicians are amazing, and being involved in music myself, I consider BluPrynt a band that I look up to and would love to continue working with in the future.

I cannot recommend Ryan Hernandez enough. I had never heard him before and hired him on short notice for our buffet style wedding reception at La Venadita in February 2018. We are so lucky to have found him and that he was available. This is hard to write because I almost have no words to describe how special and perfect everything was. The soundtrack Ryan provided really made the night. We provided him a few favorite songs and artists to play live (including our first song "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran) and he took it from there. He and Kaz played beautiful acoustics while people started to arrive and then they began the live vocals. They were absolutely incredible, every guest came up to ask where I found them and comment on how phenomenal they were. Their music elevated the ambiance of the event to such an unexpectedly magical and romantic level, we were blown away. He did his versions of many of our favorite songs live and they were all incredible. After a few hours he transitioned into a DJ set for dancing (after everyone had a couple margaritas) no one really wanted them to stop playing live but then he started playing hit after hit and had created the perfect dance playlist. We had ages 3 to 90 dancing and singing for hours. Ryan, thank you, you created the perfect soundtrack to our evening and we will be forever grateful for the memories you helped create. Originally I contacted Ryan for live music only and figured we would do that for a couple hours and then plug in a playlist. Then I read another review that said he DID IT ALL, live, MC, and DJ and I figured I'd spring for the whole package, I am so glad that I did. Ryan is incredibly personable and professional. He made announcements throughout the night, introduced us as a couple, announced the first dance, and passed a mic around for toasts. We had a casual taco reception and he provided the exact amount of structure that the event needed. Hire him. We are currently working on figuring out what we can hire him for next....

Ruby Jaye and the band performed at my wedding. Ruby learned all of the songs I wanted for my ceremony, and the band played 5 hours straight for the reception, only taking 1 quick break! They had great energy and paid attention to what songs everyone wanted to hear.

My students actively participate in various festivals and competitions as well as studio recitals. My piano lessons include music theory, performance technique, etc. My passion is to teach students who love music. I always give my best to all of my students so I expect them to work very hard daily at home. Music becomes more "fun" when you put lots of effort to your daily practicing.

    About

We are a trop rock group. We are Michael Sea & Island Fever. Nationally recognized singer/songwriter, Michael Sea has been writing and performing songs with a tropical/nautical theme for the past 25 years. A contemporary of genre touchstone for Jimmy Buffett, Michael interpolates his own personal spin on Buffett and other classics into his set. Michael's vast catalog of original songs tell stories, both true and fanciful, evoking exotic locales and bringing to life colorful characters like Toucan Bill. The music masters of Island Fever complete the sound combining a driving rhythm section and tight harmonies. Island Fever features the talents of Bryan Weiss on bass, Don Parsons on drums, Gordon Schaaf on percussion and JJ Jenkins on keyboards. We have performed at countless festivals, fairs and stadium shows, including opening for Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer's many times. For larger, stadium-type venues, the band brings out the full compliment for that your-face-is-in-the-music sound with up to 12 musicians.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

    • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
    • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
    • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.
