Bill is excellent. He knows the business and knows how to put together the ceremony and reception without a hitch. We enjoyed his music selection and how they blended with our music selection. Many of our guests complimented his services during and after the wedding. Bill knows how to engage the guests and get everyone on the dance floor. Lots of fun and laughter had by all. We are thankful for his service and professionalism.

I really enjoyed working with Mike and his wife for my July 2017 wedding of 70 people. His wife helped along the way and was there during the wedding, so that was an added bonus! His other great reviews and great price was what initially attracted me - and working with him was even better. -He was extremely accommodating to all of our needs. -Easy to talk to and work through the timeline with -Had great sounding equipment and microphones -Was an all around super nice guy. -Made sure to check in with my wife and I during the wedding to ensure the music and sound was to our liking. -Just did his thing in the background and made the music sound great. I would absolutely recommend Mike and Mytaste to any event.

Martha and Arturo knocked our wedding out of the park. From the start, they were friendly and professional. Once we met them and tasted their delicious food, we knew we were in good hands. Even though I knew we had nothing to worry about, we still couldn't have anticipated just how exceptional the food and service was at our wedding. The guests loved everything and kept commenting about how many options there were and how great everything was. The service was on point the whole night. There was even a snafu with the rentals (it was on our part...the coffee cups never got delivered and we didn't realize it until the middle of the reception), and next thing I knew Martha appeared with some disposable cups from the store to save the day! They went above and beyond and anyone who works with them will be lucky to have such a caring team involved with their event. Thank you Martha and Arturo!

DJ'd our wedding and was absolutely perfect! His set up was small for our intimate venue, he was very professional, and played the right music at the right times. He read the crowd well, and adjusted as needed. We planned our wedding from SoCal and booked him over the phone, and we're not entirely sure how it was going to work out. Could not have been happier!

She is very professional and flexible with your makeup and hair services. I would definitely recommend her for wedding services. I wished I used her solely for all my bridesmaids as I hired two different makeup/hair individuals. She is quick to respond and gives reasonable prices for the services! Thank you for making my wedding day special!

Alena and her husband, Alex, photographed my wedding in July 2017 in Tiburon, CA. I can't say enough positive things to capture our experience working with Alena, but I'll try to draw on the highlights. First, Alena is a steal. With her experience, you'd be hard pressed to find someone that's also at her price. She has years of experience under her belt, and is pricing low because she's trying to break into the Bay Area market. Her work is exceptional, despite having the lowest quote we found. Second, Alena and Alex are extremely warm, sweet, supportive, and positive. The charm and kindness they brought to the first meeting drew us to hiring them, and they had proven to be nothing less than a supportive and warm presence throughout the wedding process. Planning a wedding is a tough process for many, but these two put you at ease and remind you of the romance. Third, Alena is super responsive and flexible. Any communication and/or concern is resolved quickly and professionally. She makes it a point to be extremely flexible for you. Meeting in person just to chat, viewing the venue, having her arrive at a certain time on the day of the wedding...despite her living out in Sacramento, and we live in Berkeley (and having our wedding in Tiburon), she makes sure to make every appointment on time and molds to your schedule as much as possible. Just this alone helped make the wedding planning process much smoother. Fourth, Alena and Alex are extremely professional on the day of the wedding and beyond. Honestly, I completely forgot they were there most of the time. Alena was present for the morning prep (makeup and hair), and she fit completely seamlessly into the day by snapping many gorgeous photos while blending into the background. Her non-intrusive style helped me and my bridesmaids relax and just completely be ourselves - nerves and humor and all - while she caught wonderfully candid moments. Throughout the day, her and Alex's photojournalistic style were able to capture so many moments we missed, while making everyone look good! But also importantly, she was also able to direct posed shots and suggest placement and timing for our first look, sunset shots, and bridal party/family photos. Even a request for a re-edit of photos, Alena took with positivity and responded with a newly edited version rapidly. We hope to one day work with Alena and Alex again!

We had a great experience with 2TipsyChicks. Working on a very short time-frame and with a venue that wasn't exactly a short trip away - they delivered. They provided great service during the wedding, and the two signature drinks that they designed for us were a huge hit! My wife and I would highly recommend them for anyone who needs professional and fun bartenders for an event.

Amber and Max were AMAZING! I originally hired two event helpers through another woman who pulled out less than a week before my wedding. Thankfully I went onto Thumbtack, submitted an inquiry and within less than 20 minutes Amber sent me a message with a quote. She saved me! Amber and Max were so efficient and professional during my wedding. I didn't have a wedding planner, so I had so much on my mind and many things to worry about that day. I never once had to worry about Amber and Max, they were so on top of every little detail. I can't thank them enough for all their hard work!

Sorry for the late review, we used Elegant Event for a birthday party in feb as DJ, very tolerant guy, his name was Dwayne, very nice and patient with the kids. My sister just used them for their wedding and we all loved the workers that came. Brad was in contact with me constantly, very knowledgeable man, since I was the wedding coordinator, his DJ Dwayne has a quite yet fun way about him. The photographer was Cristian, he is a young guy but he knows what looks good in a picture, very good job! We are all buying our prints. The video was done by Trevor and his wife assistant. He is a very entertaining guy, friendly and its always cute to see a husband and wife loving to work together. Video was breathtaking! All that being said I was very impressed being in the wedding business 15 years I have seen some disasters

He also, DJ and MC my wedding. He exceeded my expectations and I would refer him to my friend and family. Definitely will book him for future events. So I have to be honest I didn't hire this gentleman as I found somebody a little bit closer and a friend of the family but I will say that he responded immediately was extremely professional and clearly knows how to run a business I didn't get back to him right away and I feel really bad but we are in such a time crunch with only a few days left in the wedding one of the DJs backed out on us and I asked him could you do it for us with only 4 days notice and he said absolutely talk about character thanks again and I'm sure you would have been amazing at our wedding I'm very sorry that we went with somebody else but like I said friend of the family so it was hard to say no to them as well if anybody's looking for somebody who respond immediately and seems to be very professional this would be your guy

Simply put, we could not have asked for a better wedding experience, from start to finish, from our pastor, Jerry ("PJ") Drummonds. He was such a loving, supportive, and godly mentor to us as he met with us in the days and weeks leading up to our special day. At the same time, he was highly professional and very organized, turning a daunting task like planning our wedding service into a stress-free process. His message was thoughtful and personal. He made the entire service an amazing, magical event. And every step of the way, as busy as we know he must have been, he always made us feel like we were the only people on his schedule!

Upon getting a message from Tom he was able to meet with me and my fiance same day!! We met in a coffee shop and discussed our wedding plans. He was open to and willing to customize our ceremony to our needs; he's willing to help us write our vows; he's willing to come to our rehearsal (and all this was included in the price!). Tom was super personable, funny, and seems to really enjoy what he does and really wants to help us to have the best wedding possible! He even thought about his attire, told us what he normally wears to weddings, and made sure that was okay. He was willing to go buy something else to wear if it wasn't. Best of all he wants our ceremony "finalized" 6 weeks before the wedding, so it's one less thing we need to stress about as the wedding countdown starts! He gave us some homework and a ceremony template (just as a guide) so we can start thinking about what we want to include in the ceremony and what we don't want. We are very excited to be working with Tom!!! **Will update the review post ceremony, although I'm sure it will be perfect!!**

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

  • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
  • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
  • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
  • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
  • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
  • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
  • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
  • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you find a good caterer?

Reviews, interviews and menu tastings will help you find the right catering choice for your big day. Start by screening possible wedding caterers based on past reviews. If a caterer you are interested in has a review that concerns you, ask them about it; how they respond will be very telling. Next, ask about their availability for your wedding date.

If the wedding caterer is available on your date, it’s time to talk about menus and prices. Be clear about what your maximum budget is find out what choices this will allow you. Caterers may custom-create a menu for your event, or they may have menu templates within different price ranges that can guide your decision. A clear budget gives the caterer clear parameters within which to work and offer creative suggestions. Schedule a menu tasting to confirm you love your wedding menu. Once you have a menu and date, and have paid a deposit to reserve the caterer’s services, confirm additional details including when the food will be delivered to the site, what kind of service will be provided, how many servers will be onsite and for how long, and who is responsible for setup and cleanup. The more specific your contract, the fewer worries you’ll have on your wedding day. Get more smart hiring tips here.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
