Introduction: I'm not just a plug and play wedding DJ. I play the nightclubs too. I can mix, scratch, & blend music. I'm a people person so I enjoy meeting new and interesting people at the gigs that I do. I also like the perk of traveling with my job. Takes me places I wouldn't maybe go on my own. A personal reason is the acknowledgment that I get at the end of an event when the client thanks you for a wonderful evening and the memories that where made.

Stephen is amazing! Hire him if you want a DJ who really gets you. He DJ'ed our wedding 7/12/2014 and I could not have asked for more. It went smooth, and he was very organized, which put me at ease since I'm the kind of bride who had everything noted (twice, lol). I loved that he brought his wife, and new baby boy to our second meeting. It really let us know that we were supporting a family, and it let me know he got us (mentally and financially). We felt comfortable with him immediately. DJ Katz really goes out of his way to make sure you are well taken care of, that you understand, and he understands what you really want, and he's hilarious; down to earth, but very business oriented. Stephen DJ'd our wedding in Sacramento in January 2015. He did a spectacular job DJ'ing our wedding! I can't imagine a better DJ for our wedding, or any wedding! He is the consummate professional and his experience DJ'ing thousands of weddings really shows. He insisted on meeting with me and my wife multiple times before the wedding to go over the details, which was especially helpful. He asked probing questions and had a helpful form that really helped shape our ceremony and wedding structure. For instance, when is the first dance, before or after dinner? When are the speeches? And cake cutting? What songs are played during the processional, and recessional; what songs do you want during your grand entrance after the ceremony? We didn't even know we had to figure that stuff out until we met with him! In a way he was our de-facto wedding planner! This is where his experience was invaluable. He had lots of good advice and input regarding the structure of the event. During the event, he was an excellent MC, and really took charge announcing various events, telling guests where to go and what event was coming up. Again this was extremely helpful. Finally, his music choices are excellent. He truly accepts input from the bride & groom, and asked for specific songs or genres we liked. He is knowledgeable about the latest hits and genres, as well as classic wedding staples, so he can DJ all types of music. He also was super flexible adding personalized touches to the wedding; for instance the bride & father of the bride had a special dance, that was a mix- mashup of 3 songs; he mashed-up the songs in advance so they could practice their dance! We also had a singer and pianist in our bridal party and he went out of his way to help them set up their keyboard with his mics, so they could sing a song at the wedding. Finally, all of our guests had an amazing time dancing! His music choices were spot on. And the wedding and various events during the wedding went extremely smoothly. This could not have occurred without Stephen's expertise. He went above and beyond to make our event excellent. His knowledge and experience is invaluable. I cannot recommend him highly enough!

Yes Comments: Stephen really knew how to read the crowd and played songs that got people up and dancing. He was spot on on his suggestions and made sure that our requests were met. He was very pleasant, friendly, and professional. We couldn't ask for a better DJ, our guests are still looking talking about how much fun they had and how good our DJ was. I want to get to know their needs and direction of the party. I have constructed a checklist for details and I always offer a free consultation with my clients.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a nightclub DJ so I'm constantly updating. I belong to 5 DJ record pools. I work on Serato Scratch computer program and it's always updating with new technology. You never know everything about your field and can always learn more from others.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I love music and every derivative of it. I covered a couple events for friends and because of my other earlier answers I stuck with it. Now I won't do anything else. I love what I do.
