FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
A tune-up or virus eradication service will run $40. Installing/Upgrading software/components is $20 per item (in addition to the part/software). LCD repair/replacement is $60 plus parts. Deeper repairs are $80/hour (IE: electronic repair). Data recovery is $100 per device - no charge if I can't recover (I'll evaluate and recommend another provider if your recovery needs exceed my capabilities). I guarantee my work for 30 days and will do free follow-ups for virus eradication if needed. As always, physical cleaning and diagnosis is always free.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I'll look at the issue the customer is having and ask some questions before making a bid. Sometimes just one or more questions can resolve the issue without a service call or at least provide enough insight that the service call is brief. When I get a system into my shop, the first thing I do is to make a backup of it's drive(s). I also clean and inspect it, checking for damage and failed components. I'll report my findings before proceeding with any further work.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In addition to many years of hands-on experience both personal and with numerous employers, I successfully earned a degree in Information Technology/Network Security from Heald Business College in 2007. The Internet is an amazing tool and I read several blogs to stay on top of current trends and issues. I'm also continuing my education and will soon have CompTIA A+ and iFixit MasterTech Certifications.
