Introduction: I teach blues, gospel, pop and jazz piano, and I teach how to play the piano by ear. I am a former professor of music at William Jessup University in Rocklin, CA. I teach piano lessons with grace and style at my studio. If you know anything about John Thompson, Suzuki Method and Alfred's approach to teaching, I use many of those principles and concepts. I offer piano instruction with an emphasis on the student learning how to play by ear, how to improvise, learn Chords, Voicings, walking Bass lines, instead of the desires of the instructor. I provide a varied lesson which is well balanced and includes theory, exercises, fun, performance and quality work. 20 years plus of teaching have given insights impossible for a NEW instructor. As a life coach in addition, your lesson will ultimately include skills in many areas of goal setting, success and confidence. Previous students now bring their children to PPP to carry on the tradition of class, education and a love of the arts. I have been a Studio Musican and a Recording Artist for Commerical Name Artist-

Victor has been the type of instructor I've been looking for. His instructions are very precise & methodical, with a means to an end of obtaining specific goals. His method is very foundational and builds upon what was previously learned. He is very patient and understanding - knowing when to move the student forward at the right time. Unlike other professionals who are very, very accomplished in their skills but cannot teach, Victor is the exception. Not only is he a truly accomplished pianist, he is an excellent instructor. If you, as the student, are willing to put in the time & practice, Victor will definitely give you the right guidance. He's the best instructor I've ever had!!

I had my first lesson with Victor 10 years ago. What makes his lessons unique is his upbeat personality combined with a musical talent and years of knowledge and experience. He touches on all elements of music from theory to performance. The first song I learned by ear was “Don’t Know Why” by Norah Jones. During the course of that song, Victor deconstructed it down to the blueprint by outlining the Key Signature, Chord Progression, Voicing, Timing, and also emphasized on Improve and Performance. In another lesson, he played the same song in different genres and called out their respective techniques during each transition. I learn so much during our meetings and I always leave more inspired and motivated than I did the week before. All in all, Victor is truly an exceptional teacher and mentor and I highly recommend him!

Professor Bright is an Amazing instructor. I am an adult student who has significant instrument and music experience, however, piano is a different work of art. I started with Professor Bright in 2011 in Sacramento and have continued as a student while living in Oregon and now Texas. Professor Bright is such an amazing teacher that we do lessons by FaceTime. His passion for the art and his Student’s success is recognized early in during the interview process through every piece of music you learn. I am not an easy student, however Professor challenges me to work harder through the learning process, interpretation process and through to performance. I have a challenging career but I find lessons with Professor Bright to be the challenge that calms my soul.

Vena, thanks for a warm, kind and honest assessment of what I endeavor to do with each and every student, Students like you challenge me to be a better listener, coach, mentor, motivator, pianist and instructor,a piano teacher becomes successful only when partnering with Students like you that desire to reach their fullest God-given potential, Vena, I like you, are still learning and the process is fun , very "challenging" but rewarding, Thanks for being honest!

A gifted teacher is one who understands a students interests and capabilities and develops an action plan to build on those given traits. Being a latecomer to piano playing , Victor’s approach has given me a path for self expression and enjoyment. Clint Eastwood said “ a man’s got to know his limitations” but for me with Victor’s guiding hands I’ve got my expectations that far exceed my limitations. Now tell me, how many piano teachers can help a guy with all thumbs!!

Victor is an exceptional piano teacher and you'd have a hard time finding one like him anywhere else. He has an enormous wealth of teaching experience (30+ years) and you can tell by the way he can compliment your learning speed and individualize your lessons to push you towards success. His theory and performance teaching method is frankly amazing and unique. He is warm and welcoming. If you really want to understand music and the piano, I can't recommend him more.
