"Movement Coach/Personal Training: I am a Certified Personal Trainer with a personal and professional background in Dance and Gymnastics. My forte is in bodyweight exercises as well as stretching/flexibility and overall mobility/movement. I can train either indoors at a local studio gym, or outdoors (which is my personal preference). We would ideally do a mixture/alternating indoor and outdoor. When training inside a gym, we will have access to weights, machines, and other equipment. When training outdoors, we would be working with lightweight equipment, such as bands, and bodyweight exercises as well as using our surroundings. I believe this combination of exercising and outdoor exposure is fitness for the mental and spiritual, as well as the physical. For those looking or able to commute, I am located in Pasadena. If you have another location in mind, including your own home, I can bring a large (6'x4') exercise mat. A park or apartment gym would also be suitable. Stretch Therapist: I am currently a Stretch Therapist at Stretch Pro Pasadena. Please call Stretch Pro directly to book with me! Education: I have a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition. I incorporate Nutrition at varying degrees based on the client's goals. If desired, we can add an additional focused 30-min session to discuss nutrition as a broad/overall discussion. If detailed nutritional planning is desired, I can refer to a Registered Dietitian. ---- Dance Instructor: I have over 15 years of experience in hip hop dance, encompassing multiple substyles under the umbrella of hip hop, such as: Locking, Whacking, Popping, House, and Hip hop, and overall Freestyle. I have traveled the world dancing professionally. I can help you with both choreography and freestyle. I can help with group routines for events. I can help you with general rhythm and becoming comfortable with moving your body. Dance is my first passion and I would like to help you find freedom and expression through dance! Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do you wear to swing dance lessons?

Swing dance is an increasingly popular style of ballroom dance with a dress code that reflects its roots in the 1920s-1940s jazz era. Although many studios don’t require historically accurate costumes for their private dance lessons, many dancers want to dress the part. You can wear clothes that are comfortable to move — and sweat — in, such as T-shirts and loose skirts or khakis. Or for an appropriately vintage look, women often wear shirt dresses with a knee-length A-line or circle skirt that allows for plenty of swishy movement. Men usually opt for a button-down shirt and trousers. The most important part of a swing dance outfit is the shoes. Both men and women can opt for simple sneakers, like Keds, or leather dance shoes, such as saddle shoes. Until you have several dance lessons under your belt, stay away from heels.

How much do dance lessons cost?

Adults who want to learn to dance, whether to prepare for a wedding or to meet new people, often enjoy taking dance lessons from an experienced dance instructor. Instructors may offer classes one-on-one to individual students or couples, or to small groups. The national average cost for a dance instructor ranges from $30 to $50. Some studios offer a discounted introductory lessons or group lessons, as well as package deals that are more affordable than paying for individual lessons. Some dance instructors will travel to the student’s home, which usually costs more, while others hold small-group sessions in their studios. If you choose a small-group class, expect to pay less than for individual dance lessons.
