I needed a caterer for my dad's funeral reception. Spoke to other caterers but Carolina of Gourmet Lover's Catering was the only one who gave her condolences, this meant a lot to me. The full service presentation was tasteful, the food delicious and reasonably priced. There were no exta added on fees like the other caterers. I highly recommend Gourmet Lover's Catering, Boris & Carolina are a wonderful team and you will not be disappointed.
I used Jose and his staff for our daughters 15th birthday party. We had a bit over 100 guests with the party lasting about 5 hours. I can't say enough about how good the food and service were. Jose and his staff were quick and efficient and super professional and friendly. Jose bailed me out with a few items i had forgotten (ice and dessert plates). I would and have recommend Jose's service to anyone looking to have a catered event.
I hired Sierra Madre to cater a come-and-go brunch for close friends and out-of-town guests the morning after my daughter’s wedding. Initially I was concerned about travel time from Monrovia to my home in the Larchmont area of Los Angeles, but Tonya (owner-chef) assured me she would allow for all eventualities and be there with plenty of time to set up and be ready before the guests arrived. The menu was mimosas, orange juice, lox, bagel & cream cheese (with the usual trimmings), vegetarian omelets, pancakes, cut fruit, and sour cream coffee cake, coffee and tea. Everything turned out perfect! Tonya and her assistant, Chris, were at my house early, got set up and were ready to go before the guests started arriving. The food was wonderful. The on-the-spot food, pancakes and omelets, were outstanding; and Tonya’s sour cream coffee cake was a BIG hit. The guests loved everything. The only glitch was an under estimation of how much lox, bagels and cream cheese the guests would consume. Fortunately, I had anticipated that could happen and had an extra 60 ounces of lox on hand and an extra pint of cream cheese, and we have two bagel shops within walking distance. Tonya was great to work with and having her cater made my life so much easier. It was a beautiful brunch, within my budget, and I am thankful that I took the chance on hiring her company as I had relied solely on the Thumbtack reviews when I made the choice. I’ll definitely use Sierra Catering again. The only suggestion I might make is that more attention be paid to the serving dishes used. Mixing bowls really aren’t attractive bowls to put on the buffet table.
I have to qualify this review first by saying I have worked as a professional cook and have owned a catering business. So I have an eye for and know what works and what doesn't, what can be prepped beforehand without sacrificing quality, and what can be done on sight and off-site with the aim of making sure everything is properly expedited and comes out on time. When I arrived the table was set up nicely set up and decorated. However, we had previously informed Chef that we were going to be 13 and we would like two tables, as some people are uncomfortable with sitting at a table of 13 people. So we had to ask Chef to please separate the two tables. When Bridgette came the day before, my wife mentioned she wanted a table of 6 and one of 7, not two tables pushed together to make 13. There were also no cloth napkins, but paper napkins. I guess assuming that a request for "linens" did not include cloth napkins, only tablecloths. But I digress. Even though this was done in our home where we are well equipped, I still expect anyone coming to prepare food to come fully equipped to meet their needs without having to use the home equipment. This was not the case, as Chef used our Kitchenaid, tongs, and other items. As well, they did not have a serving platter for one of the hors'd'oeuvres. Furthermore, they had to use some of our silverware because they did not bring everything needed (spoons, forks). There were steak knives on the table when we were eating fish, and no other knives. I had no problem with this because, of course, I wanted the event to go smoothly. But other clients might not have been as flexible. Finally, they used all my kitchen towels and had them all wet, from I don't know what- but it's easy enough to bring your own hand towels. As well, because we used the plates on the table for hors'd'ouevres, they had to wash and prepare again for salad plates, as they had expected the hors'd'oeuvres to simply be finger food. Nonetheless, the hors'd'oeuvres-asparagus with prosciutto and chicken bites, or whatever they might have been-still require plates. This delayed serving. More forethought should have been given to how this was all going to go down. Personally, I would have brought the salad all prepped. Because it wasn't prepped, it meant a longer serving delay. The server didn't know the difference between wine and water glasses-some basic protocol needed. The food was excellent and I had several very positive compliments from the guests, this is where they shined, and it was served hot and fresh like it should be. We had a delicious shaved fennel salad with parmesan, and a main course of Blackened Sea Bass with a succotash and roasted potatoes. That is the beauty of preparing on-site. I say this with the caveat, as mentioned earlier, that a few things could have been prepped beforehand without sacrificing quality. This would have allowed the service to flow more quickly and not have such long delays between dishes. As Chef prepared the chocolate mousse on site, some people had to leave before dessert since it took well over 45 minutes between our main course and dessert. While we had agreed that I would supply the chocolate, it I had known it was going to take chef so long to prepare it, I would have suggested it be made beforehand. If I had done this lunch, I would have brought the mousse pre-made. They used up my whole bag of ice too-I would have brought ice. Finally, food left over was taken away and not left with us. I asked the server I f she was going to leave the food to me as she was walking out and she laughed uncomfortably and said no. My assumption is that the client paid for the food, they should get any leftovers. I give Kudos to the Chef for excellent food, but the service was uncomfortably slow and everyone noticed. Finally, the server was inexperienced. Overall, organization and attention to details were lacking. To end on a positive note, they did an excellent job leaving the kitchen just as the found it and were friendly and professional despite the hiccups mentioned. I didn't have to worry about anything. If you are looking for good food, Chef Mumsie does a great job. But please ask that they send you experienced servers, and make sure to point out every possible detail that you can think of, because in my experience, they did not have a checklist or form to check off what you do or don't need for an event.
I hired Tacos El Rey for my baby shower. From the beginning, they were incredibly professional and communication was clear. Within an hour of initially reaching out to them, my questions were answered and I knew that I needed to move forward with booking them for my event before it was too late. On the day of the event, Jose Gonzalez arrived about an hour and a half before the start time and wasted no time in setting up and cooking the meat. In the past I have hired previous tequizas and they usually arrived about thirty minutes prior to the start time and just reheated the meatit was a great surprise knowing that my invites (and myself) would enjoy freshly cooked meat! (And the smell was amazing!) Throughout the event Jose was checking in to make sure that everything was fine, and he even informed me (and showed me) that the meat was starting to dry out due to the grill being on and my guests taking a "break" from eating. I made my rounds and announced the "last call" before boxing up all my leftovers. I still have some meat leftover, and the food was just as amazing the next day as it was the day of the event. The theme of my baby shower was a fiesta theme, so hiring Tacos El Rey really was the icing on the cake. Their set up is impeccable (they even use a mexican sarape for a tablecloth). The sauces they bring are deliciousI highly recommend the blended guacamole, and their rice and beans are just as tasty as my grandma's! I definitely will be using Tacos El Rey for my future events, and I will pass the information on to those I know looking to hire a professional and tasty taquiza!
I have had the pleasure of being Edmond's dinner guest on two occasions. First, his warm and friendly style created a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere to enjoy a perfectly executed meal. The lure of the aroma of the secretly spiced crusted tilapia was rivaled only by its artistic, inventive presentation. His raspberry vinaigrette is unrivaled, I ate the remainder of the salad directly from the serving bowl! The side dish of soft pinto beans was the refined choice and the best I've ever had. The Riesling sangria was the ideal beverage since I rarely drink alcohol, he read his guest skillfully.Bravo Edmond!! Dessert was the crowning glory; a flawless cake with berries and cream, an impeccable choice for a superb ending. Edmond then came to my house and showcased his skills as a great teacher. We had pork chops with spiced apples, garlic mashed potatoes, thumbelina carrots and salad. He was the ideal teacher: patient, gentle, and very informative. I learned about using correct tools, suitable sides, and refined presentations. His experience was superb and I would highly recommend Edmond for anything food! He's dependable, goes above and beyond to please his guests. He's an all around accomplished chef, good guy and marvelous host, highly recommended!
We had a very condensed time frame to plan everything (more or less two weeks). David worked with us to plan a menu within our budget. His menus selections are quite versatile and can appeal to many different palates (including our vegetarian and gluten-free friends). We had our choice from a number of different global culinary traditions, as well as seasonal and thematic offerings. Despite the variety of choices, David's recommendations and guidance kept our menu focused and cohesive--our food was able to capture that perfect summer feel. As we left our wedding photo shoot to meet our guests at the reception, we were a little nervous about all the loose ends we had left. Little did we know, David and his team had already gone out of their way to tie these up before any guests had arrived (i.e., moving the chairs, lighting the candles in the pool, prepping our cake, making an ice run, etc.). When we finally arrived, our guests were very complimentary about the hors d'oeuvres, as well as the service. The buffet was absolutely delicious, and not just because we hadn't eaten all day--we've been having leftovers for two days now and it's just damn good food. Throughout the reception, David and his team washed and kept everything tidy as they went along, and by the time our guests left the place was spotless. All in all, David deserves 10 stars!
I hosted New Years dinner party and found Derek he was super professional and flexible. He worked with the budget I had and answer all my questions and concerns promptly. The food was beautifully displayed and served hot. The service was excellent his staff was friendly and professional. After working with other caterers Derek has been the best. He brought everything needed, was on time and we even had left overs. It was a pleasure working with him.
Qworks did an excellent job catering my Mother in Law's Celebration of Life. We ordered the cheese and cracker platter and anti-pasta skewers for appetizers. For lunch we had "the works" which included tri-tip and grilled chicken, with salad, green beans with roasted tomatoes and their cheesy potatoes. The beverage package included cucumber water, strawberry lemonade, ice tea and coffee service. They even stayed and served our guests and hand carved the tri-tip. They set everything up and tore it down making the day go perfectly. They even brought the paper goods and all condiments. I highly recommend Qworks for your next event.
I can't begin to describe how delicious the food is. I'm obsessed and so are my kids. But that's just a icing on the cake. The family that runs this business is kind and thoughtful. So happy I found this hidden gem at the farmers market. I am contacting them ASAP to cater my sons graduation party!
I am a very strict vegan and therefore I was looking for someone to cater for my PhD graduation party. Luckily I found Ms Farrington and Vegetables Under Glass. Many times vegan food can be quite bland and lacking in variety. However, her dishes were phenomenal! She is very talented with flavors, presentation, and variety. My friends and colleagues would not have even known the food was vegan had I not told them. I'm absolutely 100% satisfied with the experience, and I would recommend her in a heartbeat. Oh, and you must have her make the vegan coconut ice cream for desert. To die for!
N2 Creamery provided service on Sept 19th at our home and it was excellent. Everybody really appreciated that. We had different booths at home for this occasion and everybody felt like this was the best. Service was great! Ice cream was great! Guest of all age group really enjoyed. No waiting line in the booth. Easy to set up booth. We all really enjoyed that. We are glad that we took this decision to make our occasion so special. Thanks to Samantha Stuppy for making all the arrangements.

Only caterer I recommend in the high desert.
I had enjoyed several different flavors of Foxy's cupcakes and I have to say they are by far some of the best cupcakes I have ever eaten. They are moist and the icing is flavored to perfection. No one can eat just one. I guarantee it. The Owner is extremely professional and aims to please her customers. Her cooked vegan dishes are beautiful and well prepared. Her vegan dishes are on my list next to try.
We really wanted to do an ice cream sundae bar at our wedding and so happy we found this place! Cooper was really helpful and was willing to do anything to make it perfect! Everyone was extremely excited to have ice cream! Thank you very much for making our special day even better!
Wow! Words cannot describe how wonderful Chef Fenya is and what a feast she can prepare. Russian Doll Bakery catered our wedding in Las Vegas and made us proud to serve our guests at the reception in our home. Chef Fenya prepared a fantastic gourmet dinner that included Lamb & Chicken Shashlik, Grilled Vegetable Kabobs, Marinated Beets with Goat Cheese and Citrus Marmalade, Jalapeño and Chicken wraps in Bacon, Shrimp Shooters in Cocktail Sauce, Smoked Salmon with herbed cream cheese on Rye, Stuffed Mushrooms, and Mini Fruit Kabobs with seasonal fruit and cheese. And oh by the way, she prepared a wedding cake to die for -- actually three cakes served on tiered cake stands -- a sugar free lemon cake with raspberry curd, a chocolate cake with caramel Macchiato filling, and a red velvet cake with cream cheese filling. This was, without doubt, the finest gourmet wedding dinner I've ever seen and I give Chef Fenya and Russian Doll Bakery my highest recommendation!
Grandma Lucy's catered our Thanksgiving/Rehearsal dinner for 35 guests and everything was wonderful. The team showed up on time to set up all the tables and chairs etc. and the meal was ready exactly when promised. The food was delicious! We opted for a traditional Thanksgiving menu with Turkey and Ham, vegetables and casserole; pies and ice cream for dessert. So many of our guests commented on how good the food was, and I couldn't agree more. Joy and her team certainly took the stress out of the event. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again.
