I was quoted the same price that I have paid for 10 years, but when he arrived he wanted another $200.00 dollars. I hired him anyway as I had already talked with 2 other tree trimmers and just wanted the job done. He and his crew completed all work and cleaned up everything. He was also flexible with a time change that I needed and showed up on time.

I'm very happy with Domingo and his crew. My backyard was in very bad condition, since the tenant I have did not take care of it for 1 year. Domingo and his crew cleaned all debris, trim 1 tree, clean 3 palm trees and 10 bushes, put new sod, everything looks really nice now. Thanks Domingo, I appreciated it.

After working with Palm Tree Trimmers for 24 years, I was exceptionally pleased with Torres. He literally climbed up a 55 Palm Tree within 30 seconds and made certain when he removed the dead branches, it did not damage the landscape. He was done within 13 minutes and took another17 minutes to remove the debris. With his price being lower than Palm Tree companies with a lot of overhead, I highly recommend his services 100%.

Carlos was prompt with his quote, his follow up and scheduling the work. The workers were amazing. I had a 70' ash tree that needed to be removed. The workers were organized, everyone knew their job and knew how to get it done. There was a high level of team work. I was very impressed watching them work together. No one needed to tell anyone what to do. They were a great crew. This 70' tree came down with no problems. I would hire them again and recommend them highly. All their paperwork was in order too.

Did tree trimming, bush removal, weeding, grass trimming, and sprinkler repair, and removed the debris. They did a lot of work for a reasonable price, good communication, got here when they said they would, and didn't leave too much for me to clean up.

I didn't give this project a five star because I asked that our china- berry tree have the berries removed along with trimming the tree. After all the trees had been trimmed and everything had been cleaned up I was told taking all the berries off would take longer then the agreed upon time for the project. Also, removing all the berries would be too much of a shock for the tree ( I appreciate the knowledge). However, I would have preferred less crown reduction, and shaping of the tree to having the berries removed.

These guys were fantastic. I was quoted for my project to be a two day thing, and they finished in about 6 and a half hours. They were clean and did exactly what I was quoted for, which was a total yard clearing. I live on a cul de sac so my yard is pie shaped, and they took it all out. George also trimmed my palm tree for me, which was so nice. Hire these guys ! They're great!

I had a dead peach tree in my side yard for the last couple of years. Because I heard that we were going to get some Santana winds, I feared the tree may fall over and damage my neighbors roof. I went on Thumbtack and put in my request for tree removal. Luis of Brandon Tree Service responded almost immediately with a price I thought was fair. (the other tree service companys that responded did not give an estimate, or were very expensive). I called Brandon Tree Service and talked with Luis. He said he could come out on the same day. He arrived at 4PM and cut down the tree. Yaaa...! no more worries for me. Great service and very professional and friendly. I highly recommend them !

What can I say ... Discount Tree Care is the best. I solicited bids to cut down and remove three trees on one of my properties and Didcount Tree was the lowest of six bids I recieved. They not only gave me a great price but they did a great job. Would highly recommend them and will be using their service again.

Efren is a true professional, the quality of his work is first rate. I had him put in some automatic sprinkler valves and a new timer and lastly finish things up with a little tree trimming. When he was complete, the property looked great. You couldn’t even tell that he did so much work. He made sure to clean up and put everything back in its place. Thanks for a job well done Efren, I will certainly be calling you for some more work when I get ready to have it done.

We are thrilled to have found Francisco! Reluctantly and with much trepidation, my extremely picky husband agreed to hire a garden service. - "No one will manicure my lawn the way I like it!" After a couple of negative experiences, we heard about Francisco Ramos. Francisco with his work quality, professionalism, garden knowledge and expertise, and work ethic are all the things my husband and I were looking for in a garden service. We have the greatest of confidence in all the work he does for us always going above and beyond from tree and shrub trimming, slope clearance, rose pruning, and most importantly, manicuring our lawn! We couldn't be more pleased and highly recommend Francisco Ramos Garden Service!

Abraham and his crew were terrific! He gave me a very reasonable quote and did a quality job on an oak tree. He helped educate me about how very sensitive this tree is to heavy pruning and ensured the health of the tree. I will be using him again and have already recommended him to others.

Not only is Dale a licensed contractor, which is what we needed, he also furnished us copies of his liability and workers comp insurance. Dale and all of his workers were very professional, courteous, and polite. Dale was able to assist us with our project by being able to do the work the very next day, and he was on the job at exactly the time we had scheduled, and he completed the job exactly as we had expected. We would highly recommend Dale and his Roley's Tree Care crew to do your job.

I had a very large tree in front of my first home I bought and I wanted it gone for our new landscaping plans. A few guys came by and checked it out and gave me a very expensive quote! Daniel removed our tree for a very reasonable price given the size and complexity of the roots. Everyone told me it would take 2weeks and Daniel did it in 1week! He was always respectful and Had great work ethic! I would highly recommend him!

I hired Leo to trim a Eucalyptus-like tree and a pear tree in my back yard. He had a good price and did a nice job in a little less time than i was expecting. He did all the clean up and kept the branches out of the neighbors yard. He had to re-schedule our first appointment, but he called ahead of time to let me know and showed up right at 8am the next time as promised. So i was happy with that. I'm used to most contractors not showing up and telling me a family member was in the hospital. Anyway I recommend Leo and will hire him again.

Best thing about them was punctuality and responsiveness. My job was complete within 2 days of first call, and it was quick work with the amount of manpower they provide. Only took 2 hours for bush removals and 6 palm tree cleanups, plus cleanup/haul.

This is my first time working with Neil from Bella Earth Design. He was friendly, professional and had some wonderful creative design ideas. He was easy to work with and open to hearing my ideas and plant interests. I have a small house and small yard in Long Beach. I wanted a designer with a creative eye, professionalism, and some unique design ideas. He fulfilled the requirement. He was responsive to questions. His work proceeded in a timely manner without no surprises. He provided me with an email on various plants to review to get a sense of the type of plants, trees, and shrubs i am going for. We started out with an onsite initial consultation, where he was able to look at the property. He came back with two visual design options for me to choose from. The drawings included all the plant choices, ground covers, and some added visual features, which i appreciated. We reviewed both drawings and made some changes based on the consultation. His third meeting more of a final drawing where we agreed upon the final draft of what it would look like. So, now just waiting on the final budget and the work to begin. I strongly recommend you choosing Neil with Bella Earth Design for your next landscape design project.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
