Q. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A. Potential clients are given a free consultation. If I feel I can meet their needs, I will proceed to offer them legal services at a very reasonable price.
Q. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
A. I have been a licensed attorney in the state of California for almost 14 years, where primarily I have dealt with family law, including divorce, child custody, and child support.
Q. Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here.
A. There is no standard pricing system per say, it varies case by case depending on the level of difficulty of each individual case and the amount of time expected to spend on each case. However, typically family law attorneys in San Diego county have an hourly rate that ranges from $200 to $350 per hour (and some are even higher than that). I am on the lower end of the scale, usually, at $200 an hour. Moreover, your typical family law attorney in San Diego county requires a retainer to get started on your case. Think of a retainer as a down payment or an upfront payment before services can be provided. Typical retainers for family law attorneys in San Diego county vary between $2,000 to $5,000, and some attorneys have even higher retainers than that. My retainer is generally on the lower end of that spectrum, usually starting out at $2,000. Some cases can require a higher amount, whereas some cases may require a lower amount.
Q. How did you get started doing this type of work?
A. I enjoy working with people to get them out of their current stressful situation and into a better place.
Q. What types of customers have you worked with?
A. I work with a wide variety of clients, from some being unemployed to others being multi-millionaires, etc.
Q. What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
A. I always tell potential clients that are shopping around for attorneys NOT to hire the first attorney they find. Often that could be a big mistake that is hard to get out of when deep in a bad relationship with that attorney. Instead, the smart thing to do is to interview between 3-5 family law attorneys and go with the one you feel most comfortable with.
Q. What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
A. They should not only look at who has the lowest price, because sometimes that could be very misleading. They should also look at the quality of service provided with the quoted price.
