Introduction: I work on a 'train the trainer' mentality, so that I give you the tools to continue to work with your dog in the future. I also believe in getting your dog right into the situations where you are having trouble. For example if your dog is aggressive toward dogs, we will meet in a place where we encounter lots of dogs. I do not feel that avoiding a situation will provide any benefit to you. I work with all breeds, all ages and all problems, but I also *specialize* in dogs with fear, anxiety and fear aggression. I work with many clients who have tried other trainers but have not had success. I love dogs and I love helping to build the human animal bond. Having a dog should be a wonderful experience, not a stressful one!

I highly recommend Beth for your dog training needs. I had already gone through two trainers with my reactive dog and she is by far the best that helped me so much! She was always very knowledgable about how to go about a really difficult situation with my reactive dog. She helped me grow to be a more confident dog mother so I could be better for my puppy. She helped with anxiety, manners, jumping, leash walking, and reactivity. All in all she was incredible and covered every single issue I had with my puppy and it has been such a joy and weight lifted off my shoulders to see myself and my dog grow to be more confident! Thank you so much Beth we love you!!!!

Wow! What a marvelous experience having Beth help me with training for my new puppy “Sonnet”. I think any dog & owner can benefit from her professional yet personable guidance. My “Sonnet” needs more self control, and with using the techniques and advice Beth demonstrated she is 100% better! Even after just a couple of sessions, by practicing her techniques that she modeled in person; wow such excellent results! It is obvious that Sonnet also feels more secure and loved as well! It is definitely very gratifying to have such positive progress in obedience and respect. Now I am more consistent and confident in the way that I interact with my pup. Minute by minute! (hour by hour, and day by day!) life is 100% better due to this awesome trainer. Really can’t thank you enough Beth! Also, knowing that if I have any concerns in the future, you are right here in San Diego and always respond! (For instance the recommendation for a specific different collar to try for walking nicely on the leash.)

Beth did an incredible job giving me the tools I need to be successful as a new dog owner. She helped me swiftly potty train, crate train and leash train my dog, Bandit! She was super responsive, very punctual and was so helpful via text in between sessions when I encountered new behavioral issues from Bandit. Worth every penny, and I would use Beth again in a heart beat!

My 2 year old female havanese needed help with not pulling while on the leash and pottying. Contact and meeting with Top Dog Trainer was something I should have done a long time ago. After our first meeting, I was taught great techniques and was given a plan to train my little girl. My dog learned very quickly using the plan outlined. On the second visit, Top Dog watched my dog to identify other important issues my dog had. We worked on not jumping on people, not running out of the front door when opened, and refined her stay and sit demands. Thank you Top Dog!

I offer a free online phone consultation to better discuss your needs. If you are looking for dog board and train in San Diego in addition to a phone consult there will be a personal meet and greet to establish your needs.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I left a corporate career many years ago to follow my passion, working with dogs.
