Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: My work stands out from the others because I also play music for a living, and my passion for guitar shows. I make lessons fun, not only do I teach the fundamentals, but I teach your favorite songs. I am hip to the times, but also know the old classics. My amp accepts iPods so we can access any song you are trying to tackle, without having to bring a bunch of cd's. I am personable with children and adults alike!

I have been a student of Greg Russell for two years. When I started I couldn’t even hold a guitar right. Every week, Greg assigned me homework to practice, but it’s not like normal homework. He would assign me actual songs to practice that required certain techniques to play. In the beginning, I would only play metal music, but with my increased skills, I started looking into different genres. I am now studying the components of funk and rap music. Greg Russell is different from other guitar teachers in so many ways. For one thing, he can figure out how to play a song just by listening to it. That was one of the most helpful things for me. If he didn’t know a song, I would play it on my iPod and he would write it down on paper for me to read, which brings me to my next subject, teaching. Greg’s teaching methods were extra helpful to me. He would go slowly if I needed to fix something, he taught me how to read tablature, and he knew countless songs from every genre of today’s music. One of the most important things that I liked about Greg was that he is skilled in playing both the guitar and the bass. So when I wanted to start learning to play the bass, he knew as much about it as he knew about the guitar. I would always come to his class knowing what song I wanted to learn. Thanks to Greg and his teachings, I am now in a band and hoping to start having performances later this year. I owe a big thanks to him. Without him, I never would have become a musician. I hope he can do the same for many more people.

My daughter who is 8 1/2 years old started taking lessons this past 7 months or so with Greg. When she first started out she wasn't really sure if guitar was for her but after about seven months with Greg that has changed. She now has a desire to play guitar and sing and I credit Greg for building her desire. I have watched him work with her quite often and I can say he is a pro. He has the technical skills as well as the people skills and that is very important. Keep up the awesome work Greg!

Greg really knows his stuff, and is a great teacher. He is patient with students, but still pushes them to learn new skills.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I advise that someone looking for a good guitar instructor make sure that the instructor has a solid background in teaching. Testimonials and reviews are a plus, so you can read what others are saying about this person! Speak with the potential teacher over the phone, and ask questions, while also explaining your goals for playing guitar!Check to see that they can teach the style of music you prefer, and that they provide materials. If the teacher has a personal bio, that is helpful in deciding whether they are a good fit for you. Generally kids and young adults are more comfortable with a younger, hip instructor, and older adults might prefer a teacher who is around their age. Generally you will know after the first lesson if the teacher will be a good match for you!
