Tom did a great job installing shelves, hanging framed art, assembling metal racks. I was so impressed that I'll hire him to put up curtain rods/brackets and other items on my to-do list for the future. Terrific guy, really knows how to do tons of things.
I hired Jose to demo the complete interior of a dilapidated rental house to get ready for renovation. He was punctual and a great communicator throughout the entire process. I am very busy with work but Jose made the process very convenient by sending me pictures as they went to keep me updated on the job. I would recommend Jose and am planning on hiring him for the drywall and framing as well.
As the Project Manager for an upgrade to a condo for resale, I hired Emmy Hyde to do the work. She did a great job! Her attention to detail was impressive and she was very easy to work with. As an Interior Designer, I work with a lot of contractors who assume I know nothing about their trade and often condescend or disregard my opinion. On the contrary with Emmy, even though she knows her trade well. Will definitely hire her again.
We purchased a new home two years ago and my husband and I decided to install new laminate flooring, door trims and baseboards ourselves. We only managed to finish half of the house and got too busy with our work to complete everything upstairs. The house always seemed unfinished with tons of material cluttering our garage. We decided to post an ad on thumbtack and Oscar responded -- and we are soooooo pleased that he did. Oscar and his crew are true professionals. (You can check out his facebook page for ideas and pictures of his work - https://www.facebook.com/OscarsHardwoodFlooring ). We have nothing but praises for Oscar - the quality of his work, his attention to detail, the fact that they cleaned up everyday before leaving. Now we have absolutely beautiful floors and mouldings and the house is finally "finished"! Even though it wasn't included in his original quote, he also installed the baseboard and quarter-rounds in some of our half-finished closets and pantry. He is a wonderful contractor - one who won't "nickel and dime" you for extra small stuff. My only regret/complaint: 1) not finding/hiring Oscar sooner and 2) not being able to give him more than 5 stars for this review.
We randomly (and luckily) met Stan through Thumbtack. He helped correct a progressively leaning garage that had been worrying us for 6 years. Two other contractors had given us the impression that the problem was too expensive to correct (perhaps too cost prohibitive due to the work they envisioned necessary) or generally too daunting a job to be interested in. It was the last stab at either fixing or tearing the structure down. Stan brought a level of professionalism that was refreshing. His project proposal and execution of work demonstrated that he clearly knew his stuff about framing and construction. Since we were not sure of the future of the structure (since we might remodel further) he also helped us keep within our budget for the scope of this project. We were provided with a description of the work to be carried out and accurate cost estimates. Stan also secured the fence after straightening the lean (there was a gap left where the garage was previously leaning); in the end we also had him frame in a small window into the structure. He worked independently and very efficiently to get the job done. We would not hesitate to recommend him or consider him for other projects.
If you are looking for a honest, organized, knowledgeable, professional, hard working and timely general contractor then Matthew is your guy. In our new purchased home we had two old bathrooms that we wanted to remodel, plus the full house re-painting. We got a few quotes similar with Matthews but what really sold us was that he just struck us to be a really honest guy...which turned out to be very true. He listened to what we wanted but also used his design expertise to guide us toward a practical and beautiful remodel that we are very happy with. Since we were not home while the majority of the work, Matthew was always available to update us or answer my husband many questions. He also gave us lots of advice on other projects outside of his job scope that really saved us time and money. Simply put Matthew does what he says and comes in on budget. Our scope of work was to basically remodeled both bathrooms, extension to master bath new flooring, plumbing upgrade, new bathtub and custom shower pan, custom tile work for entire bathrooms, electrical upgrade, framing and building new wall, drywall and complete painting for all the house. Overall it was a very pleasant experience working with Matthew and we ended up with two beautiful new bathrooms and a fresh house!
I found Chris when I was given one of his fliers by a friend who raved about his work. I only deal with licensed contractors, since I've been burned before and there's little recourse when they disappear or change their phone#, plus eventually I have a lot of work I want to get done and I want it all legit in case I need permits,etc... And licenses tell me a person has made the effort to put his time in, learn a trade, and become licensed. It's cost me more money to fix things that have been done sub-par over the years. The paint on my house trim was peeling and I could see the wood was becoming damaged in some areas, which means more money to fix rotted wood, so I was anxious to get the exterior paint done. I shopped around. Chris gave me a fair estimate, plus he was confident in his work and I saw the results at my neighbor's house. I loved that he was very respectful of my house, my yard, clean up, and his work was so clean! He gave me a head's up that some of the wood may be more damaged once he sanded the old paint. He showed me the damaged wood and gave me the option to fix it or not, which of course needed to be done. He replaced some old window sills and window frames. You can't even tell which ones he replaced! Everything matches the other windows! I couldn't be more pleased. After a few weeks I saved some money and was still so excited about the outside of my house finally getting done right that I decided to get some work done in the bathroom. My house is 90 yrs old, the interior walls have plaster not drywall, which many guys don't want to touch, but Chris said "No problem!" it's one of his specialities. He explained what's involved, wrote an estimate, and now I've got one bathroom done and it looks AWESOME! My husband is impressed. We're going to have a dinner party with friends to celebrate. Chris is a solid guy with good old fashioned work ethic. We have only great things to say about his work! After the new year we're going to save money and have a deck built so my husband can barbecue outdoors. Thumbs up times a hundred!
His work on our crown moulding and baseboard trim was very precise, and he worked with us on coming up with the best option for our redone kitchen. Just as important, he returns phone calls and texts promptly, actually shows up when he says he's going to, and completes his work on schedule. When was the last time your contractors did that?
Pedro is not only a great guy but an awesome worker. He shows up when he says he will and stays until he finishes the job. He works well around other contractors and is able to complete a variety of tasks.
I hired Cheryl through Thumbtack in Feb 2015 to fully renovate a 1700sqft home in what we thought would be a quick two months. First and foremost, she's a fantastic designer - she understands color, is particular about details, and can visualize what a space should feel like. Different times of the day, different seasons of the year ... she thought through it all and got the right combination of lighting, windows, and heating/cooling to get it right. In ADDITION to that designer's touch, Cheryl is a tiger of a General Contractor. I really can't overstate how much energy and passion she put into the project getting bids from subcontractors, managing and directing her own crew, and fighting to keep everything on schedule. I felt entirely comfortable letting her pick fixtures and finishes, which lessened the load on my shoulders. And, from an owner's perspective, the way she documented every dollar spent and provided reports and accounting was beyond anything I've seen anyone else do. It's amazing. In the end, the project did NOT go as expected. After opening walls, we discovered extensive termite damage (which meant some new exterior walls), antiquated electrical, and sub-standard plumbing work. Most other contractors would have walked off the job or taken advantage of the situation. Most other contractors would have taken an additional four months to finish. Cheryl didn't - she poured her whole self into the challenge and worked tirelessly to get the project done. The end product is fabulous and it took only one month longer than originally anticipated. Perhaps most importantly, Cheryl's integrity, "whatever it takes" attitude, and her extremely high Say/Do ratio is a testament to her character. She's the type of person I like to work with, and I'd be delighted to share any details of my experience with anyone who's considering her services.
Repaired a shelf and rod in our master closet that was not properly anchored with original installation with building contractor. Anchored 3 new bookshelves to the wall and replaced door knob face plates. He was very interesting to talk with, and although he arrived later than scheduled, he was able to complete what we asked.
We highly recommend Peter of Reliable Renovations. We ran into a big problem when we tried to have new double pane windows installed, the framing on 2 bay windows had extensive dry rot. Thankfully we hired Peter. He was very knowledgeable and put our concerns at ease. We find him to be much more reasonably priced than other contractors we met. He rebuilt two second story bay window frames for us and did an excellent job. He works quick too, in just two days the framing was ready for the new windows to be installed. Even the window installers were impressed with his work! He really cares about his work and that was evident in his attention to detail and willingness to take the extra time to make sure the job was done right. He's also just a really great guy! You will not regret hiring him.
My wife and I had a great experience working with Allen from AP flooring. Prior to contacting Allen, I had already received multiple estimates from other contractors on kitchen cabinets. He's prices surpassed all the others in affordability and quality. Allen went out of his way to assure that we'd be happy with his services. He is easy to work with, no pressure, hassle free and he got the job done on time. We would definitely recommend Allen AP flooring and cabinets.
When we moved into our new home, I was so excited to get into our spacious new kitchen and start cooking! I couldn't wait to start stocking up our pantry until I opened the door and realized it was just a closet with a single rickety shelf. I talked to Ron about a couple of ideas and the next day I had a beautiful and organized pantry with shelving from floor to ceiling and side bins for herbs and spices. I have seen other contractors' work, and it does not even compare. Ron is professional, experienced, and he knows what looks good depending on your style and the style of your home. He is precise and never sloppy. Clean corners, sharp lines, smooth surfaces. He's the guy to call if you want your home improvement job done right the first time.
I've worked with numerous contractors and Mike is a breath of fresh air! His communication, knowledge and attention to detail has been very helpful in some unusual projects. He is always on time and prepared for our meetings, his quality of work is outstanding and his prices are competitive.
I'm writing to let you know what a wonderful job AML Leon Construction completed on my home. They replaced about 110 linear feet of damaged fascia boards, removed rotten load bearing support wood posts on my front porch and installed 6X6 new posts along with raised concrete footing. They also designed, constructed & installed a decorative grill like metal platform for my AC unit the previous plywood platform was damaged. I thought I would give you an ideal of a few jobs completed. All work was not only done professionally and in a timely fashion, also their prices were very reasonable & all material used of very high quality. I was very pleased & would highly recommend AML Leon Construction. I do plan on using them in the near future. Thank You, Mary Machado
Mr. Heuslein company was hired by Mountain Health Community Services INC to renovate two of Mountain Health primary health care clinics in San Diego, and in Escondido city. I had a pleasure of working with Mr. Heuslein company on the renovation of our two primary health care clinics in 2014. The renovation consist of the following: Demolition, Framing and drywall and concrete footing. Electrical & lighting, plumbing, heating &cooling, Painting, T-Grid ceiling , roofing, handicap parking stripping, MEP, flooring, IT etc... Throughout the course of the renovation. Mr. Heuslein was a consummate professional. He was accurate in his initial assessment of the scale and cost of our projects. He was absolutely clear in his record keeping and construction timelines. He chose and managed the sub-contractors appropriately. The jobs was done with care and precision. He demonstrated that he is an efficient contractor and make sure all change orders are communicated thoroughly and cost effectively. Mr. Heuslein took special care to prevent unforeseen extra cost to the projects and keep us in within budget. While major renovation is inherently stressful, Mr. Heuslein services as a general contract were invaluable, and I am extremely pleased with the final result. I would like to give Mr. Heuslein top marks in the following areas: Quality of work: s consistently top notch. They were conscientious about following project specifications and the work product rarely needed improvement or revision. Quality of Crew: professional, reliable, courteous, and respectful to the clinics staff and respectful of clinic property and business during renovation and goo work habit with strong emphasis on getting the job done right than doing it fast. Project Management and Coordination: Mr. Heuslein company is knowledgeable about all aspects of our projects and was able to plan, coordinate and manage the activities in different work crew effectively. They are familiar with medical building codes and dealing with city hall also facilitated a smooth and hassle free process when it came to building permits and inspection. Mountain Health Community Services is currently planning on building a new 24,000 square feet in campo area and his company is on our hiring list for our new medical health center.a
We recently hired Sun State Glass to install a frame-less shower enclosure and replace an old, failing insulated glass unit in an exterior door. When evaluating contractors I consider three core factors (in no particular order): time, quality and cost. The crew from Sun State Glass showed up on time and finished on time; The quality of the finished installations meets our expectations in all respects; Their bid was the lowest of three we obtained and we are happy with the value received for the price. I can recommend Sun State Glass for this type of work without hesitation.
We have worked with Doug Arnold, owner of Doug Arnold Construction, using his contractor skill and services on several occasions. He has installed doors for us, repaired the roof at our rental condo as well as removing the popcorn ceilings there and painting the interior for us. Two years ago, he was our contractor when we added three rooms onto our home, specifically a master bath, walk-in closet and a home office. The renovations were fairly extensive including designing a new roof to blend with the existing. When completed, the addition looked as though it had always been there. Most recently, we are having him build our patio cover which will have a metal roof when completed. The design will tie in well with the rest of the house. We have been pleased with his work, his work ethic, and knowledge of construction. His skill and abilities are extensive. We would be glad to recommend him and / or use his service again.
