- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I decided to go in to my line of work because of my Grandma. When I was in law school I did some research for a supervising attorney on Medi-Cal planning and realized that my, very organized and well prepared, Grandma was not as protected as she thought she was. Her current estate plan left her vulnerable to high taxes and asset recovery from the government.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look for the provider that offers a customized estate plan. Cookie cutter estate plans may be appealing because of the low-cost, but can be very costly if not done correctly.
