FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I meet with the initating party privately to learn a bit about the dispute and discuss how to engage the other party. If the dispute is family oriented, or involves Restorative Justice, I conduct interviews with each party before meeting. If the dispute is more legalistic (contact-dispute, landlord-tenant, etc.) I will want to move straight into mediation to preserve my neutrality and learn about the dispute equally from each party appearing together.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a J.D. (law degree) and many certificates including Mediation, Public Participation and Restorative Justice.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I fell in love with mediation in law school because it puts the power in the hands of the people that are most effected by the dispute. I started high level - federal and military projects, but kept getting deeper and deeper into community work. My passion is working with families and neighbors to find realistic and achievable solutions tailored to every unique dispute.
