FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For lessons at my home I typically charge $35 per hour. For lessons at your home I charge $40-45 per hour depending on the travel distance.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For lessons I typically take some time to find out what the student is interested in learning and I see their current technical capabilities on the instrument. Then I prepare practice routines that will help their technique catch up to the level that they want to perform at. One of my favorite maxims is that "with good vocabulary comes the ability to express yourself." This holds true for any instrument and vocabulary can be synonymous with technical capacity on the instrument. I have been performing in classical settings since I was a child and this is my profession so I expect myself to perfom publically at my highest ability every day. I will consult with you to see what the performance requires and match my sound and style to the context of the gig.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been studying guitar for 15 years. I have been in orchestras, jazz ensembles, and bands since i was a child. Before guitar, I studied classical violin and cello for 6 years before I picked up the guitar.
