I had the pleasure to work with Mehrzad Hessamian. Mehrzad remodeled my master bath. I am very pleased with his workmanship and his pricing. He attention to details was much noticeable. He used creative designs to install shower tiles and constantly gave me feedback on his work and how to do the job better. Mehrzad did a good job cleaning after each day and after job was finished. He finished the job on time as we had agreed upon. I called him a few times and asked him questions about a few details. he always welcomed my calls and answered my questions with smiles. He came by once to inspect the job two weeks later to insure all is going well and did some final adjustments. I highly recommend him and will ask for his services again in the future. Shawn O.

I highly recommend Matthew from American Custom Builders. Here is the reason why: I was in need of some Stucco repair work and some custom deck around my big in-ground Hot-Tub at my backyard. I consulted with few Contractors and was experiencing that it was hard to find someone who exactly understood my requirement for the custom deck work on a slightly challenging terrain. At that time Matthew was doing some major remodeling work at my colleagues house and I was impressed with his attention to details, pricing and most importantly the finishing of all work. My colleague strongly recommended Matthew to me, so we ended-up hiring Matthew for our work and we were completely satisfied with both the Stucco work and the custom deck work. Every guest that visits us praises the deck as the highlight of our backyard around the hot tub. We had no knowledge about the composite materials that Matthew chose, but he took time and methodically explained step-by-step how he designed and how the finished work will look like. We cannot be more happier with the finished product. I highly recommend him to anyone.

We found Matthew by doing a local contractor search on Houzz. Matthew came into our house and redid our Kitchen counter tops, backsplash and sink/plumbing. He did a great job, finished in the projected time frame and was very clean and paid very much attention to all details and made sure that everything he found was up to code. He then did a complete remodel of our 2 original bathrooms in our 1957 home. We had custom tile throughout both bathrooms and showers, custom vanities made by a company he referred us to along with new plumbing. Matthew is a great communicator and hard worker making sure that everything comes out perfect. He will go above and beyond to make sure it is just right; his attention to detail is spot on. He not only listened to what our vision was, he was able to deliver just as we hoped along with adding extra touches that we had not thought of. I cannot emphasize enough how lucky we were to have such an honest, hard working contractor who made the whole process as painless as possible. We have no hesitation to use him again for future work and will 100% refer him to family and friends.

To Whom it May Concern, We are very pleased to provide this strong letter of recommendation for Matthew Hess of American Custom Builders. We used Matthew's services for two projects at our daughter's 1950's-era, ~900 sq ft house in San Diego, CA. We interviewed a half-dozen highly-rated contractors, but selected Matthew based on his outstanding references, strong knowledge of home-building, and lowest overall price. The first project involved removing a major structural wall, removing a closet, and expanding the kitchen. The remodel turned out great and was completed on-time and within budget. Because of the success of the first project, we turned to Matthew again when we decided to add a ~480 sq ft master bedroom/bathroom addition plus a roof deck to our daughter's house. Matthew worked with us and our architect to ensure the plans were well thought-out and structurally sound. Once the plans were completed, he helped us obtain the necessary permits from the city (not an easy task!). The El Nino rains delayed the start of our project, but Matthew was flexible with the start-date and ready with his crew once the rains subsided. Throughout the project, Matthew was closely involved in all the details and even performed some of the hands-on work himself. As might be expected in an older home, we ran into some challenges (e.g., replacing all the water lines in the house), but Matthew came-up with creative solutions and did the extra work at his cost. For several extra items, he did not even charge us at all! Our daughter is delighted with the remodel and room addition and we are extremely happy with the end-results (including quality, cost, and timeframe). Overall, we had an excellent experience working with Matthew. He is diligent, hard-working, conscientious, honest, and delivers on his promises.
