Introduction: If you're looking for a web/graphics designer that's collaborative and comes from a corporate culture and work ethic, I'm your man. I take ownership of my work and I will help guide you to graphics and/or a website that meets your marketing goals. I have been doing professional web design as my day job for over fourteen years, and professional graphic design for over ten. My job title for many years in a corporate position was Business Development Coordinator, which meant I did web design, graphic design, coordinated, designed and ran all trade shows, and I supported our marketing teams. I come from a place of understanding marketing and competition and I bring that to my work with clients if that's appropriate for them. I am also college educated, and I was on the web team at the prestigious Brookings Institution think-tank in Washington, DC, for three years. That is where I really learned how to feature information on websites, especially thought leadership. Gary has worked with me off and on for several years. I love the new logo he developed for me, and he has been the primary webmaster for my website for some time. His prices are reasonable, he's very efficient with his time, and he always advises with my best interests at heart, even when that sometimes is less profitable for him. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a learning junkie. I never stop learning new things and from every aspect of the business. While I'm always learning to improve my technical skills and knowledge, I'm very interested now in online marketing; both the technical and the higher level of how to really connect with your target market and position yourself, your product or service as the thing that solves their need.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was the Secretary for Graduate Programs at a University and they taught us how to do web design so that we could maintain our department's pages, and I just took off it with immediately. I later went back to school for graphic design, and then got an even better job combining web and graphic design.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would look at all of the provider's work and try to understand their level of involvement:look, at the quality of the work, the writing, how focused the message or the marketing goals were in each piece.
