You guys have given me what they call tough Love! I feel like a renewed & young again (speaking of mentally!) LoL I am just getting started! Have a whole life ahead of me! I’ll never be done learning! Always be helping, contributing, giving, achieveing and being all I can be! If for some reason I fail at a job I’ll still have my children and my children are the most important thing in this world to me! I’ve lost my twin sister years back and my life has been downward since then! John , thank you for that tough Loving! They are the reason I’ve changed! I thank God everyday for helping me to overcome my issues I once had! I look forward to coaching right along side of John! We all need to start helping one another even the small things can make a huge difference ! Anyone like to join in on change?! All is welcome! I’d like to thank all of those that were involved! God Bless each and everyone of you! To everyone’s success! Few others I’d like to mention , Palm beach Research Group, Marketers Traders Institute, Social Security, NBC, CBS, Funnel X Project, Go Daddy,Click Bank, Sen,.....there’s many many more! Sean is an intuitive, insightful and compassionate healer. I went to him for help with my career. After a couple sessions it turned out it wasn't my career that was in need attention but other areas of my life. I had some internal mental blocks that we addressed. By doing some deep meditations, he helped me work through them. After each session I felt shifts happening in my life. They were subtle but very impactful. I can honestly say after working with Sean I feel more peaceful and content with where I am in my life. I strongly recommend using his services. It will be time and money well spent.

I don't usually write reviews but I am compelled to do today. I've been blessed to work with Debi for at least 10 years, through the years she has become my mentor, my wise woman and my balance adjuster. You know how you want to read all the help books that you see on Amazon or at a bookstore but you never actually get to? Well, Debi has read them all! You know how you need someone wise to push you to a solution or path that you already know is yours? Debi will know exactly what is best and objectively show you the way! My life has been a fabulous journey and many thanks for that to Debi. I've gotten praise, I've gotten a kick in the butt and the kind hug of all ver wisdom when I needed it the most. Bring everything to the table with this lady- career, relationships, the dilemmas of life and of course personal goals and resolution of conflicts and all will be so much better and it will just all flow. You will feel better and sturdier as you walk out her door.

I've been working with Arya for about 18 months and I could not be happier with my experience. In our sessions, we focus primarily on how to navigate potential career opportunities and how to understand behavioral patterns that may hinder personal and professional relationships. Without question, his coaching has completely changed the way I understand myself, my behaviors, and the way I hope to interact with the world. He has a pragmatic approach to meeting me where I am, whether that be practical tips to reduce anxiety at work or coping with uncertainty and risk about major life decisions. The sessions have become increasingly more insightful as he learns more and more about me. As others have mentioned, he's also extremely kind, open-hearted, and trained to tackle a spectrum of life's challenges. Far and away the best coach/therapist/spiritual advisor I have ever encountered.

"I have a lot of confidence that Susan has seen hundreds of "Melissa's" in her career. She will be a great guide and support for me during this hard time in my life!" I participated in a women on the verge morning workship with Susan and plan to lean on her some more...! It will great to have other women in the workshop who had a similar issue but were further along the road than I.

Nicole played a big role in my career development. My issues have been trying to focus on what I want to do and how to do it, and working with Nicole on those issues put me on the right path for success. What I love about Nicole is that she forces you to see the big picture, ask yourself the hard (but necessary) questions, and then identify the steps to reach your goals. I look forward to using Nicole again when I need to navigate life and career changes, which I anticipate will reduce my fear of making those changes, knowing I have her in my back pocket.

A friend recommended that I approach Beth when I was considering a career transition from a senior research role at a Washington, DC-based foreign policy think tank. Beth's assistance has been invaluable. She has helped me frame a strategy to guide my job search that's built around a detailed appraisal of my skills and interests. Beth's experience working in different sectors means she has a lot of fresh insights and contacts to share. Her advice has improved the way I have conducted my job search and expanded my network in the process. Beth is very personable, an excellent listener, and is brimming with good ideas. I appreciate her enthusiasm and always leave our conversations feeling energized.

I have been working with Laura for about a year as a coaching client. Laura uses a lot of novel approaches as a coach and sessions are always fresh and interesting. I've been going through a lot personally over the last year and have found Laura to be an amazing guide during a really big transition. Her insights have translated into new actions for me, like learning to keep better boundaries for myself and I'm forever grateful. ~Danielle

Donna is not only a knowledgable career adviser but also a very supportive mentor throughout my job search and offer negotiation process. In the first meeting, she already identified my weak points and developed a plan for tackling each of them. Throughout the process I learned to communicate succinctly, maintain poise and overall demonstrate seasoned professional material. After working with Donna, I have successfully landed a few offers and negotiated terms for my dream job which I am happily working on now. I definitely recommend Donna for anyone who is looking for a career adviser or for any help to advance her/his career. Just one meeting will help you understand the changes needed and where you can get to. I love to continue working with Donna!

Cynthia worked with me as a life coach for a couple months. I had talked with a few life/career coaches here and there, and Cynthia was the only one I wanted and chose to work with due to her professionalism, integrity, intelligence and creativity. Even if I was confused or pessimistic, she would work tirelessly to find the positive qualities and kernels of truth I could build on and work from.

Lisa helped me uncover and take action on my life vision. Every area of my life has seen big changes in alignment with that vision. I’ve strengthened my marriage, stepped away from a 25 year career in Human Resources, built a company I’m passionate about and found balance in my life. Lisa’s approach is no nonsense and honest. She has an amazing way of keeping you focused on your dream, one step at a time … next thing you know you’re living it.

Amanda is a great yoga instructor! She is always on time and ready to help me jump start my mornings bright and early every Tuesday and Thursday. I needed an instructor to come to my home to get me motivated to get my body moving consistently and Amanda has been my rock through the transition of getting up early to exercise. I had not practiced in years and am so happy to have Amanda to get me on my feet again. She is motivating, changes it up, and pays attention to form. She even gave me a yoga workout with awesome visuals to use to motivate me to practice while on vacation! I would highly recommend Amanda's yoga services.

Congratulations on considering working with Shannon Gibbs as your personal coach. In my experience with Shannon, I can attest to the value she brought to our relationship. She’s unlike a traditional counselor, rather, she brings to the table her coaching hat. Shannon’s skills and innate and spiritual wisdom provided me exactly what I needed during a rough patch where I was struggling with identifying my personal gifts and how they could be best used in a career profession. She helped guide me through an exercise where I was able to discover, through feedback of close family and friends, the personal qualities that I possessed that will propel me to my next career. It took this guided instruction to get me there. She has a nurturing and supportive style that is invaluable if you are feeling stuck and need a little nudge or feel defeated, worn out, confused, dealing with a life crisis or are just plain scared and tired of being stuck. She has backbone, passion, commitment, wisdom and persistence. She is also a natural teacher which shines though in her coaching because her focus is that you be set free so you can soar on your own. It is in these coaching conversations that she talks with you to find the root of your desire to become all that you were created to be. Shannon always has a word of encouragement or correction or wisdom and it’s always delivered in compassion and constructively. She has inspired me to pursue a career passion that, up until now, seemed distant and unattainable. I still have a lot of work and growing to do, but Shannon taught me how to be open to these new possibilities so that I can thrive where I’m meant to be.

When I left my last job I was really struggling to find a new path. Anyone who has been involved in an early-stage startup knows just how much stress and burnout can derail your ideas about what you want for your life and career. Having support, encouragement, and advice from another female professional was what I craved at that time in my life. Victoria was exactly what I was looking for. She provided me with the patient listening, advice, and sometimes commiserating, that I needed to move on and begin my next job hunt. I happily found an amazing new job at the beginning of last year where I've been able to set personal time boundaries and earn the respect of my superiors. I adore this woman. And I know you will too.

Jacquie is great. Having her available during my job search made the process so much less stressful. She helped edit my resume, condense and streamline my cover letter, connected me to people she knew in the industry, wrote referral letters and gathered useful feedback regarding my applications. She has a ton of insight and wisdom on how to beef up your resume, how to interpret interview feedback and how to stay grounded & motivated throughout your search. Working with her felt like having a cheerleader, editor, mentor and agent rolled into one awesome package, and I would absolutely recommend that anyone looking to switch jobs, enter the workforce or change careers utilize her services.

Wendy played a major role in how I was able to realign my life to be more purposeful and gain control of my future. Before I started my sessions with Wendy, I worked at a decent job with above average pay but extremely low job satisfaction in an industry I could care less about and a role I strongly disliked. I am sure this describes most of us! I knew I wasn't truly happy, and Wendy helped me take inventory of my life. She challenged me to think deeper about what kind of life I wanted going forward. With Wendy's help, great patience, and her asking me all the right questions, and through different assessments, I realized it was time (and felt ready) to switch careers, back to what I've always wanted to do. Once we figured that part out, she helped me with resume review, cover letter review, and interviewing techniques through mock interviews. Now I can say I am finally doing what I studied in college, which is what I've wanted all along! If you are looking for a coach or feel that something is off in your life then I would suggest reaching out to Wendy and starting the conversation to create meaningful change in your life.

          Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

          What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

          What is a career coach?

If you’re interested in furthering your career and want expert help, a career coach is a smart solution. A career coach is a professional you hire to guide you during a job search or a career transition, or to help you improve and advance in your current position. A career coach analyzes your work situation and learns what your professional goals are. They then create a strategy to help you achieve your targets. Throughout the process they should provide objective feedback and guide you in approaching the process strategically. Here are some of the tools and tasks a career coach may assist you with:

          • Helping you build a strong resume that reflects your work history, potential, and skills
          • Coaching for interviews and strategies for solid answers built around your resume and the target job
          • Defining your career goals
          • Creating a plan for job searching
          • Improving networking strategies and skills
          • Developing strategies for negotiating raises or promotions
          • Assessing why you’re not getting where you want to go
          • Identifying new positions or career opportunities that fit your skills

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

          Why is career counseling important?

Career counseling can help you discover your career path, help you overcome challenges preventing you from finding happiness in your job, or help you learn more about career opportunities that are available to you. Career counselors are typically counselors who specialize in helping guide people into their best career choices. As professionals, they have typically completed a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on career counseling and bring a nuanced understanding of the emotional blocks that prevent someone from doing what they love or getting ahead in their current position. Here are some of the ways that career counseling can help:

          • Identify your skills and talents and how they correlate to different career paths
          • Educate you about the educational requirements for launching in various careers and what earnings can look like
          • Help you understand the kind of environment you want to work in, and which careers are best suited for that
          • See opportunities to transfer your existing skill set to other career areas
          • Help you identify causes of tension or unhappiness in your current career and how to overcome those difficulties
          • Help you create a game plan for moving forward
          • Provide a safe space for you to understand your feelings about career choices you’re making

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

A career coach provides one-on-one sessions to help you reach your career goals or overcome any challenges you’re having in your career path. The cost to have career coaching can vary based on factors such as the number of sessions you purchase at one time and the experience and rates of your counselor. Career counselors are typically professionals who have earned at least a master’s degree in their field. Based on their academic background, supplemental certifications they have received, and any postdoctoral work they have done, their rates may vary. Typically career counselors offer reduced rates when you sign on for their services on an ongoing basis. A typical price range for career counseling services (nationally) could be $75-$150 per session. Remember to always ask if the career counselor offers a complimentary introductory session. You want to make sure the relationship will be the right personality and counseling style fit to help launch your confidence and upcoming career changes.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
