I'm very happy and grateful becouse you are helping us with English as second language.. thanks a lot.
Grace is a patient, fun, and dedicated tutor. My two girls enjoy their lessons with Grace. Grace has made it fun for them to learn. They originally started with after-school Chinese lessons at a learning center. Because of the larger classroom size, my kids were not corrected and only learned to copy really well. Grace has corrected their stroke order and established a strong foundation in their reading and writing. We don't speak Mandarin at home so next she will work on their conversation. I am so glad and fortunate to have found Grace!
Angela has tutored me in introductory spoken Chinese for a few months now, and I am so grateful for her patient expertise. We work extensively on conversational skills and correct pronunciation, which even if you are self learning or in a class, is incredibly valuable and is often under-practiced without one on one tutoring. I highly recommend Angela for Chinese language tutoring.
I am so happy that we found Lillian! I have 2 little boys at home and their attention span is usually very short. But within the year, my then 4 year old (now 5) is happily singing Mandarin songs and also impressing my family (living in Hong Kong) with his pronunciation. Just a year ago he could not say a single word of Chinese. Even my 2 year old can count to 10 and speak some Mandarin words now. Lillian is also super organized and always emails me a summary of what she taught the boys that week and video clips so that I can review them with the boys over the weekend. She also videos my son singing during class and sends them to me so that I don't have to miss it even though I'm at work! All in all, she is a wonderful Mandarin teacher with a lot of patience, is super organized, and wonderful at teaching Mandarin and keeping it interesting for young kids! I wish we found her even earlier!
Isabel Wei has been teaching me professional and business-level Chinese for the past year and a half. We have lessons 1-2X per week for 2 hours per lesson. Isabel Wei is an exceptional teacher of the Chinese language. When we started our lessons, I had no knowledge of Chinese. Due to Isabel Wei’s effective teaching style, I feel very confident that I can reach conversational fluency (w/ proficient writing skills) within 2 years. Professor Wei has a strong work ethic and is flexible to all of my professional demands. She is highly recommended.
BR is very knowledgeable and very nice. He patiently taught me the language and I've become more confident in speaking Mandarin. Keep it up!
Cici is a great mandarin teacher. She is extremely patient and will help you improve your pronunciation. I took 3 months of Chinese class with Cici at an intermediate level and found it to be extremely effective. Also, she is highly receptive to feedback if there is a specific area that you want to improve on. She has passed professional Chinese language tests in China so you are getting a high level of service and value. No matter what level your mandarin is, take it to the next step with Cici. P.S. Download the Pleco app - it's the best for learning characters.
Teacher Wan Wan comes prepared and knows the material to teach my son, and knows how to test him back to see if he absorbs the Chinese lesson well.
A bit of background, I am conversationally fluent in Cantonese, but had always wanted to learn Mandarin and become Chinese-literate. Corinne was the second tutor to respond to me, but the first who could meet with me. My initial apprehension at learning Mandarin from a white girl quickly evaporated upon our first conversation. Corinne is one of the sharpest, emphatic, and amiable people I've had the pleasure of meeting...I highly recommend her to anyone who's looking to learn Mandarin and about Chinese culture.
I met up with Johnny for my first lesson yesterday evening. It went even better than I expected. Here's my assessment. Administrative Style Johnny has been very professional and prompt. Johnny was the first to respond to my request for a quote. There were a total of 3 other quotes, but I value promptness so I went with him. He also continued to communicate quickly to setup what type of lessons I wanted, time, and location. He arrived early for the first lesson. Teaching Style Johnny asks me questions in a very polite way to understand what level of Chinese I am comfortable with. Then he starts the lesson. While observing my reaction to questions and my answers he tries to correct me where he can, but not in a stern or disruptive way. That helps us to continue with the lesson and progress. Towards the end of the lesson, he remembers all the details that I stumbled on and review them. That was a pleasant surprise. It shows how caring he is about what I need to improve on. Personality Johnny seems like a very professional and smart guy. However, he doesn't act arrogant or stern. I'm not sure how old he is, but he seems much more mature and experienced than his bio on Thumbtack might seem at first glance. I think I made a great choice with going with Johnny.
Our 14 year old daughter has been a student of Sharon's for 18 months and we recommend her highly! Sharon brings a depth of understanding about the art and physicality of voice training that is very powerful. Sharon is a great coach; she brings her many years of professional performance background to each lesson, somehow knowing just how to develop our daughter for that next audition or the next artistic challenge. Sharon has made a lifetime impact on our daughter. Her gift of insight about music and artists, her patience, energy, and guidance have made a fantastic difference in our daughter' singing as well as speaking voice. We highly recommend a Sharon Kaye!
Tina taught me TOEFL, particularly on tips to get high scores on the speaking and listening parts. I learned a lot from her. The skills she gave me were really useful. Tina is really passionate about teaching and cares about her students. she is capable of giving me broad and comprehensive experiences on learning because she is interested in languages and has experiences teaching in different countries. I am indeed happy to have her as a teacher who helped me succeed on my TOEFL exams.
Xieyu was very professional and thorough. We first discussed a lesson plan and she laid out some suggestions of how the lessons would go before meeting. During the lesson, she was very clear in pronunciation and patient. Highly recommended.
She was a very experienced and creative Mandarin tutor. I was very bored of reading textbooks from my old Chinese schools. She created her own lessons that are way more fun and effective than textbooks.
