Counseling goals
Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I offer an opportunity to grow and heal in a safe, supportive, non-judgmental and nurturing environment. I offer psychotherapy, somatic therapy, and transpersonal therapy for individuals, couples, and groups. I have a number of specialties such as the following: * overcoming depression * healing trauma * couples therapy * family therapy * adolescents * overcoming addictions * healing sexuality My approach is holistic, meaning that I work with the mind, body and spirit. I am trained in traditional psychotherapy, but also in somatic (body) and transpersonal (spirit) psychotherapies. I believe that by working in this holistic way, deeper, longer-lasting and more-effective healing can occur. I help clients discover their true selves and increase their capacity for intimacy. When we can engage others from the authenticity of who we are, then an aliveness, a joy and a deep healing can come into our lives. I also welcome those who simply want the added flexibility good therapy can achieve, enabling them to live fuller, richer, happier lives.

I was Sebastian's client for 8 years. I have not worked with him for 5 years now but will gladly do so again when necessary. Sebastian's practice centers around authenticity. He works with you to develop an understanding of your authentic experiences and feelings and helps you to evolve this into a healthy, vibrant framework from which you can approach the world in a confident and loving manner instead of in a fearful and reactive one. Your problems don't go away but you become better equipped to face them as well as the greater challenges to come, rather than hiding in addiction, fantasy, or denial. While ultimately satisfying this is not easy work. Sebastian approaches the process with tremendous love and compassion but also favors pushing and encouraging you to move forward rather than coddling you. He also leans more toward the Humanistic school of psychology rather than the classical one which means that he will bring in his own personal experiences as part of the process, discussion, and frame of reference. This can be enormously beneficial but may not work for everybody. It worked for me because our background and trauma were similar and as a result I was able to trust the process based on example rather than theory. A balancing act is inevitably required when the Therapist brings his/her personal experiences into the process. How much of this is relevant, helpful, or appropriate? Sebastian is a willing collaborator in this balancing act and is open to hearing if you think it is too much or you would prefer a more neutral approach. Collaborating on that balancing act was also great practice for me to define and hold boundaries. Sebastian also practices Trans Personal psychology which means that the work you do with him extends beyond your individual identify and experience and embraces spiritual, and cosmic dimensions. It is my personal conviction that any healing practice be in therapy, 12-step program, or personal development will by nature have to encompass a spiritual element. There is no healing within the individual mind at all for the simple reason that it's resources are limited and it's context inadequate. Other things I like about Sebastian is that he has heart and he has a sense of humor. He is also a flawed human being and fortunately will not try to hide behind a veneer of spiritual tidiness. Though Sebastian worked well for me and many others, he is not for everybody. Check in with yourself about what approach feels safest and most appropriate for you. Hopefully this review helps, whichever direction you choose.

Over the course of what I recall to be about a year and a half, I came to know and understand Sebastian Earl. I consider him to be a friend, someone I trust and confide in. During that time I was having difficulty overcoming some obstacles and he helped me identify what they were, how I had been looking at them, and gave me some valuable strategies on how I could best approach them moving forward. I since have considered those obstacles to be resolved, since much of what I was faced with related to another individual at the time. If anything, I feel that Sebastian gave me some valuable and powerful tools to carry along the way in my life, and I still find times to use those tools for my own good, and for the greater goal of communicating more effectively. I felt connected with him during our time together, and I think that connection has positively influenced who I am today. Sebastian is a good mirror for anyone who's willing to see themselves for who they are, in the mirror. If you're looking to pass the baton to yourself and put in the laps, Sebastian is a great person to speak with. I highly recommend him even if you're looking to explore your options. It can be a scary thing, but I always felt comfortable and safe telling anything to Sebastian. He's a great listener and kind-hearted person.

Seb, was the best therapist I've ever had. For many reason but mainly because he is above all incredibly human and can so deeply relate to your pain. He Is incredibly intelligent and warm and flawed like all of us, and his capacity to sympathies is great and makes him such a wonderful guide to understanding ourselves and each other.
