Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I'm a somatic psychotherapist who specializes in working with women on issues of women's empowerment and in re-integrating their intuition and embodied knowing. I also double as mindfulness educator and yoga/meditation teacher for companies and non for profits in the Bay Area. *Dana Marie Nielsen is a registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (#97764) through the Center for Mindful Psychotherapy, supervised under Meridel Tobias, MFC 48745 I love connecting with my clients on a heart to heart level, and being there with them through thick and thin. We all need to be seen, heard and allowed to be who we are -- and sometimes we need a nudge and a bit of accountability to help us get through the confusing parts of life. I'm honored to be that person for those I work with and to pass down the wisdom that my teachers and therapists have given to me.

Dana is a truly talented yoga teacher. As a somatic psychotherapist in training she has a deep interest and understanding in the human body and how our body, mind and spirit are all connected. She brings this to her profession as a yoga teacher and continuously pushes me to new levels every time I'm in her class, whether that be a more advanced asana or becoming more in touch with my inner needs via movement. She's also a joy to be around, and a lot of fun :)

Dana is a gifted yoga teacher. Her knowledge of the body and her connection to the Divine make her classes remarkable. Her teachings are inspired and always ground me back into my purpose and truth. Even though I'm a beginner yogini, Dana supports me with zero judgment and tons of compassion through her words, adjustments, and intuitive touch.

Dana lights up the room with her beaming energy. Her teachings are powerful, spiritual, and enriching. Words cannot even begin to express how much I appreciate her gentle voice and creative expression. Her teachings have transformed my life - through working with this brilliant leader, I came to realize that, I too, could be a teacher. With Dana's encouragement and inspiration, I finally found my deepest passions through yoga.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My therapy sessions are $140.00 for 50 minutes. I offer some sliding scale sessions as well for those who demonstrate financial need. For corporate sessions please contact and share a bit about what you are looking for and we can create a workshop/lesson that works for your team.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

In our sessions together we build trust so we can explore your unique process, heal your pain and tap into your true self. I offer free 30 minute in person or phone consults so you can meet me, get to know my vibe and ask any questions you may have. If we both feel like we are a good fit for one another, we find a time that works for weekly sessions. Sessions are 50 minutes long and weekly. This frame helps to build our relationship and keep the momentum going so that you can get the most out of therapy.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

As a young and passionate undergraduate UC Berkeley college student, I studied education and social change in hopes to learn the best ways I could make a positive impact on our world. I explored the fields of teaching, communications and NGO work both in the SF Bay Area and overseas before feeling called to journey much deeper into my own personal healing. Over the years I've immersed myself deeply in study of the yoga tradition, meditation, shamanic studies and reiki energy work. My passion for healing and the mind-body connection eventually lead me to the Somatic psychology M.A. program at the California Institute of Integral Studies. The journey of becoming a psychotherapist has been a beautiful full-circle path for me, for thru my own healing work of reclaiming my own body and sovereignty, I found my calling as a therapist. I have worked with a diverse range of clients as a therapist at the Center for Somatic Psychotherapy - a sliding scale trauma-focused counseling center and partner with women's organizations including the Gyals network, Black Girls Code and more, to facilitate mindfulness workshops and courses throughout the Bay Area. I also work with girls in coming of age and rites of passage work through the Stepping Stones Project. Last but not least, my heart and my therapy practice is fueled by my continued practice and study of the Mysore Asthanga yoga tradition with Devorah Sacks.
