Massage Therapy

My first session with Alex was, hands down, the most premium experience I've had. I've had more than a few massages and I've learned that, for the most part, the therapists have a predefined routine they've settled into and there's really no variance between clients. Most will ask if you want special focus on a particular area and maybe you'll get a few extra minutes of their routine there, but that's about it. Alex is totally different. He listened attentively to my concerns and goals for the session and put real thought into developing ideas about what the root cause of certain misalignments might be. During the bodywork, it was abundantly clear that Alex was paying attention to the specific needs of the area he was working. It wasn't five minutes on this should then five minutes on that one - it was the amount of time and work each shoulder needed. I'm super grateful for having found Alex and I'm really looking forward to continuing to work with him. For me, massage is about caring for my body - keeping it healthy and ensuring it's performing optimally. Alex's thoughtful approach is exactly what I'd been looking for.

Massage Therapy

Alexander was great to work with. He was very attentive from the start and listened to understand what would make for the best massage experience. He answered my questions and even suggested some stretches to practice at home. After a couple of days I'm still feeling limber and some of my aches and pains have subsided for the time being. I would highly recommend.

Massage Therapy

My first session with Alexander was one of the most restorative bodywork/massage experiences I've ever had! I went to him to work out chronic pain in my shoulders, glutes and hamstrings from marathon training, and I left 90 minutes later feeling like all the trouble spots were unlocked and back in their natural positions. I would definitely work with Alexander again! To start, he asked me about the specific areas I wanted to focus on and why. As Alexander dived into more detailed follow-up questions, I could tell - and really appreciated - that he takes a very individualized and holistic approach to his work. He first talked me through where he thought the pain was originating from and showed me some stretches/form adjustments for running. He then structured the massage to target the specific pain points I had identified, spending extra time on the places that really needed it and less on the places that didn't. It was an amazing feeling to have knot after knot get worked out and there was a moment where I felt my right shoulder just relax back into place when it hadn't felt normal for months. Given how tight some of the knots were, the massage definitely wasn't gentle, but Alexander offered helpful coaching throughout. In terms of logistics, booking the session, communicating with Alexander beforehand and paying afterwards (helpful that he accepts Venmo) were all seamless. The space itself was also really cozy and clean. All this to say: If you're looking for someone who is thoughtful, knowledgable, professional and part magician, do yourself a favor and book a session!

Massage Therapy

Alexander was phenomenal. I went to him for a deep tissue massage to address some tightness that had arisen from my yoga practice. He was very friendly and professional, and his space was quiet and clean. Per his advisory, the massage was definitely not gentle, but it was deeply healing. He always made a point to coach me through moments where I was experiencing heightened discomfort due to built-up tension. I was particularly impressed with how sensitive he was to the slightest movements within different muscle groups (even when I wasn't aware of them myself). We chatted for about 10 minutes afterward, and I was impressed with his thoughtfulness. He explained that we often carry tightness and pain in certain areas as manifestation of experiences and feelings. He encouraged me to 1) notice what feels different after bodywork and 2) consider what may have caused it. Many bodyworkers speak to the psychosomatic nature of muscle tension, but our conversation was particularly enlightening for me. His candor and kindness really made the experience for me. Do yourself a favor and book a session with Alex!

Massage Therapy

Working with Alexander was a great experience. Service - I arrived early and Alexander gave me a warm welcome to his home (which was tidy and clean). We spend a good amount of time on building rapport and discussing a few issues that I have around my lower back. He explained his hypothesis, what he was going to focus on in the massage to help and what I could do going forward at home to alleviate my backpain on my own. The message in itself was, to my request, not gentle, although Alex made area specific adjustments whenever he noticed heightened sensitivity or tension. Overall I really appreciate the individualized approach. I feel that Alex listened carefully to what I had to say and actually translated it into his massage practice. Logistics - He sent a thoughtful quote, was easy and fast to communicate with, and offered plenty of timing options for me to pick from. He offered multiple payment methods (including Venmo/Paypal which I generally prefer)

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    $190/60 minutes $220/90 minutes $260/2 hours

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I start by doing a quick interview with the person I'm working with. I like to ask questions that help me to understand any discomfort in the body/mind and where (if unknown) it could be stemming from. I ask about any past injuries/surgeries, and inquire around spots in the body that need the most focus. For clients who are interested in the more emotional, and trauma related work, I ask some questions around what they're working with, and how they'd like to move through their experience. Once on the table, I address the entire body. I work with my clients to teach them how to breath into their bodies, and become more embodied in their awareness as well as how to breath into deeper pressure that may feel painful. Afterwards, I allow time to process anything that happened during the session, and offer stretches, or anything that I think might be useful to help aid my clients for after care.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Over 1200 hours (and counting) of training in massage, and bodywork. Focus in Swedish, deep tissue, structural integration, myofascial release, Reiki, Rosen Method, and Transformative Bodywork. I’ve also developed my own bodywork technique called SomaSyn bodywork.
