Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Music is my passion! I work with students of all ages; from my studio or I will come to your home if our schedules fit. I teach piano and I am a vocal coach for anyone from beginning to intermediate levels. Nobody is too old to be a student. You will have an enormous amount of fun by beginning to learn various songs on the piano via pattern identification. We will concentrate on artistry and technique, and eventually, I will introduce sight reading and theory. These two things are much easier to learn when I introduce you to my pattern identification method of learning. I teach all different styles from Classical to Jazz, Blues and Pop. My background includes several decades of piano playing with my mother standing by (she was a piano teacher who was educated at Yale Music school, so I couldn't get away with too many mistakes). I've been a professional singer for more than 20 years, and performed at numerous venues in the U.S. and China. I have extensive experience in music. I sang with the Glide Ensemble at the famous Glide Memorial Church while living in San Francisco. During that time, I have had the honor of performing for various politicians campaigns and public speaches, including Hilary Clinton, Barack Obama, Diane Feinstein, Gavin Newsom, Ed Lee and various others in the bay area. I have had the pleasure of performing with Ashford and Simpson, Pete Escovedo, Sheila E., and Tom Johnston of the Doobie Brothers. I was one of the 30 people chosen to sing with the Ensemble at the 2010 Expo in Shanghai. I've performed with my choir doing backups for Stevie Wonder. While on the East Coast, I performed as lead vocalist in a band called The Mansfield Hollow Promises, with our lead guitarist Peter Tork (of the Monkees). I've traveled with and was manager for several different bands and performers in New York City and the New England area, with The Mercy Seat (lead guitarist Gordon Gano from the band The Violent Femmes) and with Ellen McIlwaine (guitarist/singer in U.S. and Canada).

Jane is a wonderful piano instructor with a unique approach- I'm finally taking lessons after years of playing "by ear" - she creates a comfortable and fun learning environment and each week I learn something new-

Jane teaches our two kids piano lessons and they love her. She picks pieces that they want to learn and has realistic expectations for our 8 and 10 year old. She comes to our house, is always on time, and has been a joy!

Jane is so fabulous in all ways. She's great with kids, and I have enjoyed watching her teach and inspire the 6 year old I care for. She has a contagious positivity and passion about her that comes through in her music teachings. I recommend her with the highest regard!

I have two girls ages 9 and 11. They loved working with Jane and we all loved her flexibility singing or playing the piano.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

A piano teacher and vocal coach for any age, I am teacher who concentrates on positive feedback and assuring my students enjoy their lessons AND their practice time. I will never tell you that you have to practice for an hour, but will ask you to practice for at least 10 minutes a day and let you skip a day a week. I will also be very happy to let you practice as long as you would like to beyond the recommended 10 minutes. It's up to you. My belief is that music is to be enjoyed. It should not have the feeling that it's being forced upon you. That's my teaching ethic. If I were the student, I wouldn't want it any other way. I invite you to contact me to see if we can work out a schedule.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

If you would like to hire me, please be sure to call me, or text me your number and I will call you back. I'm a reliable instructor, with many years of experience teaching children of all ages. My students enjoy their lessons and have recommended me to others. The experience I share in teaching my students are vastly rewarding. I can't imagine having a career in anything but music (even though I already have had numerous careers in other capacities). Music makes me happy and I always hope that I convey that message to my students. I am located in Mansfield Center Connecticut and am excited to set up my students in my new location.
