FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Examples of our cuisine, menus, & pricing can be seen in our Thumbtack photo gallery or on our website (DNL-Catering.com). Typically we begin the process with a brief conversation by phone in order to be certain we fully understand your vision & needs, including budget. We will then email you a preliminary formal quote based on that conversation which will include all items & services, including delivery & gratuity if applicable, so you have a clear understanding of pricing. Quantity discounts & child pricing are available on barbeque menus. For all other menus, let us know what your budgetary needs are, and we will create a custom solution for you. Pro Tip: Food is often the smallest component of pricing in a complex catering event. It will come as no surprise in today's market that labor & service can easily dwarf the cost of any other item! If budget is a concern, wow your guests with a lavish buffet and premium menu items rather than a couple of passed appetizers and formal plated dinner service. You'll reap the rewards in cost & compliments!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We begin the process with a conversation by phone. We will discuss your vision & needs, including budget, and if needed can offer suggestions and resources for everything from venues to theme menus and table linens. Once we have your information, we will develop & email a preliminary formal quote which takes everything discussed into account. The quote you receive will list all items & services with pricing, including delivery & gratuity if applicable, so you have a clear understanding of cost. This quote can be adjusted at any point in the process up to a week before the event. When you are certain we're the right match for you, a deposit will hold the date. As the date of your event approaches we will remain in touch to be certain we're prepared as your details evolve. We're always available to answer any questions you may have, at any point in the process from the first time you contact us right up to the day of the event. Pro Tip: Understanding the details is key to a successful event, so communication with your caterer is extremely important. Any good caterer should be willing to take whatever time is needed to talk with you, answer all your questions, and really get a feel for your needs. Experienced caterers typically have a number of tricks up their sleeves, so don't be afraid to ask for things that aren't on the menu. Your caterer should be willing to discuss possibilities, and equally willing to let you know when experience tells them something isn't a good idea. Communication is the first step to a magical event success!
