About this pro
I am an estate planning attorney with over 35 years of practice experience, and a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate law (California Board of Legal Specialization). My law practice is devoted exclusively to helping families with avoiding conservatorship, avoiding probate, and planning for the inheritance they wish to pass to children or other heirs. I prepare high quality, customized living trust estate plans. Flat fees are charged for most legal services. I personally handle all meetings, drafting of living trusts, and other estate planning documents, and signing of all documents. I do not use paralegals, legal secretaries or outside services of any kind. I also offer free living trust seminars at my office and other public venues.

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My estate planning services are all flat fees, with the exception of trust or probate administration, which is typically hourly. I am an attorney provider for several legal plans available through employee assistance plans with local employers. If you check with your Human Resources department, they can give you information to contact your plan to see if I am a provider. Discounts are generally 25% from my usual fees.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? We start with an initial consultation to determine if are compatible to work together on your planning. If I am hired, I provide "homework" worksheets for my clients to complete in the comfort of their own home. Once completed (or largely completed), a Plan Design meeting is scheduled to go over the worksheets. At the Plan Design meeting we go over the worksheets, and come up with the design for the estate plan. I then draft the estate planning documents for review. Once the review is finished, we schedule a Signing Appointment to actually sign and notarize the documents if necessary.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I attended Santa Clara Law School, graduating in 1980, and pass the Bar Examination on my first try in 1980. I have a background in financial services, including real estate, insurance, securities, and financial planning, which makes me more rounded as an estate planning attorney. I am a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law (State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization), a distinction only enjoyed by about 100 attorneys in Santa Clara County. My certification requires 12 hours of continuing education per year in my specialization, or 36 hours each three years. All attorneys, including Specialists, to do 25 hours of continuing education every three years. This means I do 61 hours of continuing education every three years. I am a 10+ year member of WealthCounsel, a national association of estate planning attorneys who train attorneys such as myself in the field of estate planning,
