Chris rehabbed and stained our redwood deck. He was knowledgeable, fastidious, and did the job completely . He re-screwed each board down securely, making sure to even them all out together, sanded it all with a self vacuuming power hand sander, re-sanded each board each board's edge to a rounded bevel, and, giving us a choice of colors, stained everything with a penetrating oil based, weather resistant, stain. And he did all this personally at a cost less than the other two quotes I received from larger companies. We could not be happier with the results and would recommend his fastidious work ethic to anybody wanting to improve their deck. Pete & Marcia.

Recently completed a deck/post/railing sanding and stain project with Chris Stein with C.M. Stein Construction Inc. Chris provided a reasonable on-site estimate and promptly started work. He exhibits true pride of workmanship and does not cut corners. Uses professional grade equipment (e.g. Festool sanders) and a dust extractor to keep the jobsite virtually dust free. Extremely pleased with the results and his attention to detail. Highly recommended for any deck refinishing task.

Our old deck was in desperate need of attention and Chris did an amazing job fixing it up! His attention to detail was amazing and he really took the time an effort to make sure it looked as good as possible. He was always right on time, super responsive, and very professional. When Chris came to give me an estimate he asked all the right questions about refinishing our 30 year old deck and explained the way he works so that we were both clear about expectations for the project. Before he started he pointed out the areas that might be difficult or impossible to do as well as he'd like. But in the end he was able to do every part of it. He meticulously sanded the entire deck, steps, balusters and top rails so that every inch of it looked new. He replaced rotted or damaged balusters. Then he applied small stain samples to the deck so that we could be sure of the color. I appreciate in every way the value of his expertise, his attention to detail, his courtesy, his work ethic, his character and the quality of his work. He uses equipment that keeps the project site dust-free and his daily maintenance was exceptional. He worked diligently and patiently without complaint between intermittent rains to complete the project in as short time as possible. The results were excellent. When the decks were done, we asked him to refinish a year-old fence that was originally given a disappointing finish treatment. He removed all the year-old finish and the difference is remarkable. Hire Chris if you want exceptional quality results.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is quite fair and takes into consideration the complexity of the project. Balusters and railings, deck boards, steps, and exterior rim bands all need to be considered in measurements.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I get all of the information upfront so that there are no surprises in the process. This can include getting pictures and measurements from the client or a visit for me to do the measurements myself. It can sometimes be both.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a certificate of completion and an honors award for excellence from Central County Occupational Center. I have a four-year apprenticeship program for from the Carpenter apprenticeship program. I am a licensed contractor from the state of California.
