Kandis is a top-notch yoga instructor--and I am VERY particular about yoga instructors. She is the only personal yoga instructor I have ever had who thoughtfully explains what you are doing, why you are doing it, and how it impacts the muscles and structure of your body as you do it, too, which I love. Because of this I find myself easily integrating yoga into my day on days I don't see her just because I know what to do and how to do it. She also has a fun personality and you can easily see she actually enjoys teaching yoga which makes the process of doing yoga 10x's more enjoyable. I leave our sessions together feeling so much better energetically and physically than I typically do from yoga. If you are looking for an excellent yoga teacher who is thoughtful, thorough, highly intelligent, fun to work with, who will foster and help you grow your own love of yoga beyond your sessions together, you need Kandis in your life!

I am a middle aged guy, (54) and wanted to make radical changes in my life. I started by addressing my up-tight over weight body! This is where I found Veronique. Veronique is not your average Yoga, fitness swim instructor, much more. For me she is guiding me through a new way of life, addressing all of what I think are my short comings. In our first few weeks I have gained much more flexibility, strength and confidence than I have had in a very long time. Veronica is a truly gifted and professional teacher. What ever your concerns, Veronique is so nonjudgmental, you will become comfortable in a very short time no matter what level you are at. When leaving our two hour session i am already looking forward to our next. I give 5 stars!

Melissa is by far the best yoga instructor I've ever had the pleasure of doing classes with. She has a unique gift to teach a class full of people on such an intimate and individualized level. She makes the atmosphere fun and peaceful, yet challenging. She gives individual attention to form and to difficulty level, adding more challenges for those who are ready for them, and modifying for those who are struggling. She creates an environment that is welcoming and not intimidating for beginners but also develops community and pushes everyone to really challenge themselves and "leave it all on the mat". When I got injured badly rock climbing and couldn't even walk, Melissa wanted so badly for me to be able to participate that she would work with me on the side while still effectively teaching the class. She showed me stretches and poses I could still do, and took my injury into consideration with each suggestion. I took Melissa's yoga classes at the rock climbing gym where I was a member. She catered her yoga classes incredibly well to our purpose. The poses, stretching, and strengthening were specific to rock climbing. Not only was the class amazing in and of itself, but it made us all better climbers as well. In all honesty, Melissa has ruined me for all other yoga instructors I've experienced. As much as I developed a love yoga in her classes and hated to miss, I have struggled finding motivation to attend other classes since she moved. When I go, I always find myself disappointed. Either I'm not challenged, or it's too difficult. The atmosphere is cold and distant, or it is too clique-ish. Melissa has many unique gifts that make her a phenomenal yoga instructor and make her classes both fun and rewarding. Because she instilled such a love in me for yoga, I'll keep trying to find someone who teaches as well as she does!

Justin is AWESOME. Working with justin has been a lot of fun. Not only with strength trainining, but flexibility and core training with yoga and acroyoga with my girlfriend and I. I go to justin to boost my workouts and mix things up. I'm a functional movement based sports doctor and I can tell you that I'm impressed with Justin's approach to exercise and wellness. No matter how much you think you know, you'll still learn more, reach your goals faster, and benefit from seeing an experienced and knowledgeable trainer like Justin. He's also big on nutrition, which is fundamental to being and feeling healthy. His company Kula Wellness also does meal prep which is pretty cool. 5 stars!!

Working with Jessa has been such a wonderful experience! I hadn't considered private/small group yoga sessions before finding her on Thumbtack but it has really expanded my understanding & interest in the practice. She is incredibly mindful and is always sure to check in with you to make sure you're getting the most out of her instruction. If you have any injuries or soreness she will show you alternative poses and makes sure to keep the sequence challenging enough but still within your ability. It's really cool to practice yoga specifically curated to your level - not like gym yoga or giant "all level" classes. If you're into it, she will also open practice with a short guided meditation to get you grounded, I hadn't had much experience with that before but I've found it to be quite beneficial! Lately I've been going to her new group sessions at the Felton Commons across the street from New Leaf on Highway 9 in Felton and it's a cool small class that is "all level" but it's still intimate enough so you still get the personal attention of a private lesson. I love it! Jessa had been such a gift and she makes me love yoga more all the time :)) do yourself a favor and try her out!

I am taking private yoga lessons with Amanda twice a week and OMG, what a privilege! Once I retired I promised myself that I would use my hard earned money to do something special for myself. One of my desires was to find someone who could help me get back to myself after so many years of giving to everyone else. I was skeptic the first time I met Amanda because I was so much older than she but after 10 minutes talking with her I knew I had ended my search. She put me at ease immediately as she listened patiently to all of my requirements without interruption. I have taken many yoga classes in my 65 years (both private and group) but this is the first time I have been fortunate enough to have found someone who can teach me how to tap into my total self. My experience with Amanda has been phenomenal. She is a truly devoted teacher with an in-depth knowledge of the true philosophy of yoga. Amanda shares her skills and experiences in a kind and non egotistical way. I come away from each session in touch with myself on so many different levels. Amanda is not just a yoga asana instructor she is a true yoga teacher. I am very fortunate to have become one of her students and always look forward to our time together.

I have taken yoga from Sierra for over four years. Her attention to the details of practice and finer points of yoga lifestyle kept me coming back week after week. She is attuned to the seasons and changes they bring as it affects the yoga practitioner. As a new student, she will carefully guide you, but she will also deepen your own long practice.

I've loved yoga for a long time and I really wanted to deepen my practice. I took Holly's vinyasa flow class at Equinox. I loved her style and we decided to work together one on one. Now Im doing hand stand at the wall! I really appreciate how Holly breaks down the poses and, even when Im thinking "no way", she always helps me experience what part of the pose i CAN do. Its super fun and empowering.

I've been receiving yoga instruction from Courtney for over a year. She offers a warm and supportive environment while challenging you to build strength and test your comfort zone. The reason I enjoy yoga with Courtney so much is that she helps you to approach these challenges playfully. Because of her "just try" and "don't overthink it" mantras and willingness to help me modify, I have become the person practicing handstands during standard downward dog poses, after eight years of yoga and never enough courage! I'm so grateful to her, and happily traipse the Bay Area to attend her classes to suit my ever dynamic schedule. I highly recommend Courtney!

My experience with Ferox Yoga was a very pleasant and informative experience. When I scheduled a private session with Claire, she was very quick to respond, and she provided me with a questionnaire that addressed all of my needs, goals, and noted any injuries I have/had. I am a male individual in my late twenties, and I lift weights about 4-5 times a week. I don't have too much experience in yoga, and I'm not all that flexible. A few years back, I had spent about five months recovering from a lower back injury from doing deadlifts improperly. Since then, I've recovered, but I've noticed a lack of strength in my lower back which I noted in Claire's questionnaire. Once we began the private lesson, she assured me I didn't require any previous experience. We focused heavily on my form and breathing through many of the starting poses, and she showed me a lot of different exercises that helped to strengthen my lower back. Claire was extremely supportive and patient throughout the entire lesson. Also, her bubbliness and kindness are one of a kind! My first experience with Ferox Yoga was amazing. By the end of the session, my entire body felt energized, and I had gained more knowledge from Claire about yoga than I'd ever had. She was a great instructor, and she did such a great job accommodating me considering my lack of experience and past injury. I would highly recommend her regardless if you are an avid yogin, recovering from an injury, or totally new to yoga.  She is great!

Karen is one of the greatest yoga teachers I've ever had! Not only does she give lots of adjustments and have the best playlists, her classes always connect me to the root of why I come to yoga. She reiterates throughout various postures the ultimate goal is to be present and connect deeper to our body, our breath, and our heart. Karen's perspective inspires me and I would recommend her to anyone who wants to sweat a lot and deepen their yoga practice and broaden their mindset.

For me, Ericka is one of those people that you feel fortunate when you cross paths with them in life. I met Ericka when she started teaching yoga at my company twice a week more than two years ago. She is easily relatable, down to earth and doesn't take her self too seriously - but she definitely knows her yoga. Our class is a great combo of folks who take yoga seriously and folks who are there for work yoga. I appreciate how she tries to tailor each class based on what types of ailments each of us have that day. But more than that, Ericka has been a friend and an awesome teacher for me personally, so if you have the chance to meet her and work with her - I would highly recommend it. Gabe

I typically practice yoga in SF, but when in the East Bay...I do as yogis do & enter the world of serenity & positivity at So Yoga & Healing🙏🏼 The marvelous Margaret led her classes with constant professionalism with a welcoming & casual approach. I appreciate how her classes begin with student participation honoring special requests (e.g. focus on lower body, hips, core, etc.) or considerations (e.g. those with ankle injuries, weak backside, etc.). Most especially, I enjoy each closing savasana that allows one to decompress mentally, emotionally, physically - this is made possible because of Margaret's subtle, yet effective use of aromatherapy oils, a sweet treat every time! And lastly, what makes this class astounded original is the rhythmic beats of reggae tunes accompanying nearly each asana that Margaret carefully guides her students through: cannot wait until the next time & that's for real mon! I am so grateful to have found Apoorva More Yoga on Thumbtack. I was in need of private in-home yoga due to an acute case of Adrenaline Fatigue caused primarily by stress. Apoorva has taught me restorative poses and breathing exercises that have been helpful in relaxing me and reducing my stress level. I would highly recommend her for anyone desiring to develop or strengthen a yoga practice. Besides being kind, empathetic and nonjudgmental, she is very skilled in modeling and teaching yoga so that one can optimize the benefits. Under other circumstances, I would not have thought of private instruction, but now realize that I have gotten more out of my sessions with her than the various classes I have taken over the years.

Orly offers an exceptional yoga practice that has supported my growth on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels, as well as experiencing the healing of her classes. Orly is able to connect with the flow of each class and make adjustments as needed, seamlessly. She is respectful of people's time, and doesn't ever feel forced-whether its the length of class or holding an individual pose. I have felt welcome and comfortable in Orly's classes, and even though my yoga experience is limited, I am able to find a way to challenge and embrace my own potential with her teaching. Highly recommend that you give yourself the gift of a class or session with Orly, it is truly magical!

I've been doing weekly private yoga sessions with Shannon for 3 months. I sought out private sessions in my home because I work at home and it was too disruptive to try to go to a class in the middle of my work day. After factoring in roundtrip travel time, time to park, etc., the advantages of in-home yoga became clear. More importantly, however, I sustained an injury in a previous yoga class and wanted to ease back into yoga in a carefully supervised setting. Shannon is the real deal. She trained in an immersive yoga program in India and understands and embraces the spiritual and meditative aspects of yoga, as originally taught over the centuries. She is not a product of the ubiquitous Western yoga school that cranks out teachers on an assembly line, and her skill level and teaching style reflect the depth and quality of her training and commitment to teaching and practicing yoga. Finally, Shannon is able to skillfully adapt her sessions to accommodate my physical limitations. I'm working on flexibility, am very tight (hamstrings of concrete), but Shannon easily adapts to meet my circumstances in a safe, supportive and kind-hearted manner.

Brett is amazing. We had our first office yoga session today, and he was wonderful at walking us through each pose while maintaining a harmonious setting. He even provided music. It's very apparent he is well experienced and has a lot to teach. We can't wait to learn more in our next class.

We have benefited from Stephanie's healing yoga sessions in our home since December, 2017. She tailored her sessions to my husband (who has back problems and has never done yoga) and to me (no practice for years). Stephanie creates a new routine of poses each week and explains the how and why of new poses when she introduces them. We asked for "gentle" yoga but she offers more challenging variations all the time if we want to try them. She epitomizes professionalism always on time and responses to scheduling e mails. I worry about submitting this review only because she is absolutely terrific and I fear the day we will not be able to get onto her work schedule.

Gina took a very personal approach when we started our lessons. I suffered from sciatic pain after a lower back/ spasm injury due to a bulging disk so decided to try yoga to help strengthen my lower back and lessen my pain. She was always prepared with different poses to improve my health. She has a true passion for the practice and helping her patients. Gina was in it for the journey with me and I really appreciated that.
