Introduction: My work is going to reflect my clients wishes and desires, and therefore the work will be unique. This is no walking into a home and saying "I know where you bought this and I saw this in someone else's home" I give my clients one of a kind options that reflect their personality, and taste. I love the creative aspect of my job: using form, function and good design sense you can take a space and transform it. I get to work with pretty things such as fabrics, paint and other materials that can transform the look of any space. Although creativity is a small percentage of the overall work that I do, it is one of my favorite aspects of my career. I get to meet and work with all different people. I have met so many great clients that have brought me into their homes and each individual is so different. This makes every day a new day and a new challenge.

It was one of the best ideas to ask for the opinion of Joan before we moved into our house. She understood immediately what we needed and gave really practical advice including: - what type of furniture to buy with great attention to specific shapes and sizes (saves time in the shop when you are facing with choices) - gave advice about which colours would work best - how to arrange furniture to promote space and avoid crowding. Joan is a practical thinker and has endless number of ideas. She comes up with numerous solutions immediately that match your budget and taste.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer an hourly rate and a block of time.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The process starts with an in-home consultation: for about 1 hour a new customer and I can meet, walk around the home, discuss the project ask each other questions and get to know each other, establishing the relationship.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Absolutely! Every year I travel to Las Vegas to attend the Las Vegas World Market. At that event the latest and newest products are previewed and promoted for designers. It is very inspiring. I have appointments on a weekly basis with hundreds of service reps that present the newest trends in textiles, furnsihings and accessories for the home. There are designer chats that I attend where I speak with other professionals and discuss the latest trends, designer challenges and share important information that I can use for my clients.
