As an elite athlete (Paralympian), a humanitarian aid worker who has worked in three war zones, and a person whose life is rarely calm, I was looking for a way to deal with stress, which caused weight gain. Due to my unique body, a fake hip, destroyed knees, lack of feeling in my lower right leg, and missing muscles, traditional yoga classes required me to modify almost all poses and were difficult due to my inability to stand or walk without shoes.When I signed up with Brad, we had a long conversation about my physical limitations, pain, and what I was trying to achieve. I started yoga with Brad during the stressful time of moving from an office environment to working form home. At the beginning of my sessions my mind was racing with everything on my plate and worry, by the time we finished I was so relaxed. Contrary to how I felt after traditional yoga classes, like I hadn't gotten as much out of it as everyone else, this class accommodated my disability and helped me cope during a particularly stressful time. And the sleep afterwards was GREAT! The online classes allow me to relax in the privacy of my own home and took away a commute that might have decreased my yoga benefits.
