Albert and Sandra were very easy to work with. Despite very little communication before the wedding (my fault) they were able to produce a great video for us with very little direction. They adapted quickly when we had to make changes and gave us the finished product in a very timely manner. All e-mails were responded to ASAP and they made all the little tweaks I asked for. Our video turned out wonderful! We are so happy we booked them!

I hired Lawrence to do my wedding at city hall. He met us there & we took pictures for about 3 hours. The pictures came out great and his prices are very reasonable. I would definitely hire again to take our pictures!

Our experience with Pastor John was extraordinary. Due to personal issues we had to make many changes as to the location and the length of the service. Pastor John was very understanding and accommodating with our circumstances. He went above and beyond to make sure our wedding day was full of laughter and love. If you are looking for a Pastor that truly cares about your needs and making sure your day is very special Pastor John is the Pastor for you.

I cannot say enough about how much I loved working with Cindy! She had both my husband and I at complete ease & comfort while photographing our wedding. Our family and friends loved her as well. She took lots of photos of our venue and decorations because she knew I had put a lot of work into every last little detail. I would definitely recommend Cindy to anyone and everyone, and I plan on hiring her for anytime I need a photographer!

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing. We hired Sheila for our wedding in SF, over the internet as we live in the UK. We really lucked out as she was fantastic from start to finish. It was like having a extra friend at the wedding, she fitted in totally and made everyone feel at ease. The finished pictures are fantastic and we are so happy that we chose Sheila. i would highly recommend her to everyone, she is not only a fantastic photographer, but also a really lovely and down to earth person.

I couldn’t be more pleased to provide this review for Saundra, as she truly was amazing to work with for my wedding. I hired Saundra as a day-of coordinator, which includes a few meetings leading up to the event. (We met by phone, as I was planning my wedding from across the country.) Saundra helped me to keep all the details in line as we approached the wedding, and communicated efficiently through email and phone calls to ensure she had all the information she needed to keep the day running smoothly, including copies of contracts and a timeline for the day’s events. A few family members had included some things in their speeches that I had asked them to omit, but because Saundra asked for speeches to be sent in advance, she was able to review them and tactfully guide the speakers toward an acceptable outcome. She listened closely to our desires, and really kept the wedding focused on the things we wanted. My wedding was held at a private (and beautiful!) home, and on the day, I’ve since learned that there were a few glitches, including people moving things from our staging area to other places in the home, causing Saundra additional work. The thing that is most impressive to me about that added stress was that I had no idea it was happening. Saundra stayed cool and collected, and handled each situation on her own, which allowed my husband and me to enjoy ourselves, spend time with our guests, and focus on eachother. Leading up to the wedding, I told my fiancé multiple times that hiring Saundra was the best wedding decision I could have made. After all is said and done, I’m certain our day wouldn’t have been the same without her. She worked hard, and all we had to do was have fun! All the details were in place, and I had no worry because I knew she was taking care of everything. Thank you again, Saundra, for being so supportive and helping to create a beautiful day for my husband and me, and all of our guests!

In August of this year, East Bay Digital Sound coordinated the music and lighting for my daughter's wedding and reception in Half Moon Bay. Rob Goldberg (owner) and Tim (DJ) worked in perfect unison to provide us with an awesome sound and atmosphere. The event lasted a total of 7 hours. EBDS was there early to ensure set up and testing of their equipment, which was faultless all evening. Both of these gentlemen were very professional, flexible, and personable to work with. I highly recommend their service.

Noel did a great job and worked with my wedding planner to make sure the announcements and music were right on. He also arrived earlier so he can set up and work with the owner on sound check to make sure we are in compliance with the noise level. Very satisfied and happy that we hired Noel.

Young (aka DJ Twin Spin) did an amazing job on my wedding day. He worked out of the playlists that my wife and I put together, and he kept the party going all night long. He's very good at reading the crowd, and each song he played served as a soundtrack to the many memorable moments of my reception. He's quick to respond and very flexible with scheduling. He's also an awesome MC! I highly DJ Twin Spin! A+++!

His recommendations were spot on. My husband and I took forever with some decisions and Matt was good about following up with us as well as taking last minute requests. Definitely highly recommend!

If you're looking for a DJ to have people on the dance floor all night DJ Dub T is your man! He was so convenient! He took our horrible description of what we were looking for and turned it into a beautiful dance performance for our wedding. He took special song request to until literally 2 hours prior to the wedding with no question. He really loves what he does and you can tell by the quality of his work. There isn't ONE thing I would change about him. So many of our guests complimented the music throughout the night and there was not a moment that the floor wasn't crowded with dancers. Thank you so much for making our wedding one of the hottest celebrations!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
