In my mind Jiu Jitsu foundation is the best place in San Diego county to learn and train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Carlos Francis is a fantastic teacher and has created many national and world champions in a short period of time. So you now his technique is first class. The atmosphere at the dojo is very positive and family oriented. With training partners that keep you safe, and go out of their way to help you learn. I recommend Jiu Jitsu Foundation to anyone that wants to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

I first met Victor on the mat training jiu jitsu but it wasn't until this passed mother's day, one of my jiu jitsu sisters, gifted me with personal training sessions with Victor. I can honestly say it was the best gift ever! There is no one else I trusted more than one of my jiu jitsu brothers who especially can relate to my style of training. He's known me since I first moved from Hawaii to San Diego, has seen me before and after I had a baby. He has definitely helped me get into better shape and still continues to do so. Every workout has been different, challenging, but he continues to motivate me. Ladies, I highly recommend you do yourself a favor and treat yourself with a workout with Victor. As for the fellas, give yourself a chance to train with beast! No regrets! Oss!

I signed up to Mark's Dojo Americana after I moved my home & business to Oceanside. There were several locations I could have chosen as there are about 6 "fight clubs" along Coast Hwy. I checked out every single one of them. I wanted to know that I felt like I was in a comfortable environment for myself, and the many times I bring my daughter or nephew along. As I expected, several of the clubs were run by younger, brash, and stand offish characters. I won't name places, I'll just say that I'm really glad I stepped into Dojo Americana, and fortunately for me, Mark was there to greet me. I knew I was going to commit to his dojo within a minute of our conversation. Since then I've been part of 3 classes consistently. Mark trains a fitness class on Tuesday and Thursday I attend that incorporates fitness, self defense, some jiu jitsu, and kick boxing. Its great fun and all levels of students are welcome. I'm a huge boxing fan so I go to the boxing class also on tues/thurs in the evening. Again, all levels of experience and fitness. Javier, who teaches the class is very experienced and teaches you from square one. I've recently added another class on Mondays to try something new. Muay Thai with David. What fun that is! Its like taking Mark's fitness class, the boxing class, and using it all together, plus some new challenging training techniques. When I started at the Dojo I was an out of shape surfer that works every day, and didnt think I needed more than a surf a couple times a week. Once I hit my mid 30's I knew that had changed. I had gotten lazy and it showed on my body and mind. Now I'm 40 years old, more alert, work seems easier because my head is clearer, I'm surfing better than ever, and I've lost over 15 pounds just by showing up to a couple classes a week over an 8 weeks. I'd recommend Dojo Americana to anyone, male or female, any level of experience, in or out of shape, to use for their daily exercise routine. It has turned my life into easier, more energetic days, and very restful nights! Make the time for yourself, you'll be glad you did!

Best Jiu Jitsu instructor in San Diego. A supportive, family atmosphere

BJJ Unlimited is an incredible place for Jiu Jitsu training. The level of competition keeps me excited, the environment is very friendly and humble, and the level of instruction is wonderful. Andrew of BJJ Unlimited has truly put a great team together. It's a growing team of mainly purple, blue, and white belts, so you can join and not feel like you're always going to get clobbered by these experts. The space in the gym is probably the best part about it -- there is enough room for everyone to practice without fear of getting slammed by other people practicing too close together. It is a very safe environment to learn and ask questions, and it's a great workout. You've gotta try this place... I've been to a lot of BJJ studios and I've never been happier at BJJ unlimited.
