Good coaches, very well spoken about fitness and self defense! THEY will put you to work and walk you through every workout! Good jiu jitsu as well. They will help you reach your goals about losing weight.
If you are interested in truly learning a martial art, and not just being awarded a belt, then you must train at Jiu Jitsu Foundation. The friendly, championship-proven staff and members will guide you to actually learning proper Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The sense of accomplishment is thrilling and the workouts are intense, but if your fitness level is relatively low, the staff will make sure to help you reach your goals. Clean mats and facilities add to the professionalism and family environment you will experience at Jiu Jitsu Foundation. Easily the best exercise I've experienced and I've made friendships that will last a lifetime. Join the fun!
Best martial arts studio in San Diego! Brian (head instructor) is awesome. He is super knowledgeable and very helpful. I would not go anywhere else for martial arts classes in San Diego.
I took a Tae Kwon Do class with Miss Mosier recently and she was a great instructor. She has great tips to improve my techniques that have bolstered my confidence in my ability to defend myself should the need arise. I highly recommend taking lessons from Miss Mosier, you will not regret it.
I trained with Dawn for about 5 years on may way to a TKD black belt and beyond. She's absolutely committed to helping everyone around her achieve their best, overcome obstacles, push themselves to grow, and build long-lasting bonds of camaraderie.
Training at Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu Academy has been extremely fun, challenging and fulfilling. Sifu Nick was able to take me through the basics to help me understand the principles of what I was doing, while progressively pushing me to build a solid foundation in Choy Lay Fut. If you are looking to learn Kung Fu and really be able to use what you are practicing for self defense, try a class with Sifu Nick at Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu Academy
I signed up to Mark's Dojo Americana after I moved my home & business to Oceanside. There were several locations I could have chosen as there are about 6 "fight clubs" along Coast Hwy. I checked out every single one of them. I wanted to know that I felt like I was in a comfortable environment for myself, and the many times I bring my daughter or nephew along. As I expected, several of the clubs were run by younger, brash, and stand offish characters. I won't name places, I'll just say that I'm really glad I stepped into Dojo Americana, and fortunately for me, Mark was there to greet me. I knew I was going to commit to his dojo within a minute of our conversation. Since then I've been part of 3 classes consistently. Mark trains a fitness class on Tuesday and Thursday I attend that incorporates fitness, self defense, some jiu jitsu, and kick boxing. Its great fun and all levels of students are welcome. I'm a huge boxing fan so I go to the boxing class also on tues/thurs in the evening. Again, all levels of experience and fitness. Javier, who teaches the class is very experienced and teaches you from square one. I've recently added another class on Mondays to try something new. Muay Thai with David. What fun that is! Its like taking Mark's fitness class, the boxing class, and using it all together, plus some new challenging training techniques. When I started at the Dojo I was an out of shape surfer that works every day, and didnt think I needed more than a surf a couple times a week. Once I hit my mid 30's I knew that had changed. I had gotten lazy and it showed on my body and mind. Now I'm 40 years old, more alert, work seems easier because my head is clearer, I'm surfing better than ever, and I've lost over 15 pounds just by showing up to a couple classes a week over an 8 weeks. I'd recommend Dojo Americana to anyone, male or female, any level of experience, in or out of shape, to use for their daily exercise routine. It has turned my life into easier, more energetic days, and very restful nights! Make the time for yourself, you'll be glad you did!
Ari is an exceptional personal trainer. He was able to accommodate my busy schedule and train me in the comfort of my own home, which was very important as a busy working mom. He provided me with the tools and skills necessary for me to reach my post-baby weigh loss goals by implementing a personalized fitness plan. Ari is both pofessional and experienced I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for motivation to reach their fitness goals.

BJJ Unlimited is an incredible place for Jiu Jitsu training. The level of competition keeps me excited, the environment is very friendly and humble, and the level of instruction is wonderful. Andrew of BJJ Unlimited has truly put a great team together. It's a growing team of mainly purple, blue, and white belts, so you can join and not feel like you're always going to get clobbered by these experts. The space in the gym is probably the best part about it -- there is enough room for everyone to practice without fear of getting slammed by other people practicing too close together. It is a very safe environment to learn and ask questions, and it's a great workout. You've gotta try this place... I've been to a lot of BJJ studios and I've never been happier at BJJ unlimited.
