About this pro

Do you want a confident, happy, well-mannered dog that you can take anywhere without concern? Are you in need of a dog that walks on leash without pulling, a dog that behaves nicely in your home, or greets guests in a calm and controlled manner? Have a new baby or new pet in your home? Then you have come to the right place!

Wonder Dog Training has been serving North County San Diego and Southwestern Riverside residents since 2002. Cities served include: Escondido, San Marcos, Vista, Carlsbad, Oceanside, Encinitas, Rancho Santa Fe, Rancho Bernardo, Valley Center, Fallbrook, Bonsall, and Temecula.

We have many satisfied clients, as evidenced by our numerous reviews on Google, Yelp, Yahoo, Facebook, and Kudzu, and are often referred by area Veterinarians to their own clients.

We provide private, in-home dog obedience and behavior modification, (general unruliness, jumping, door bolting, leash pulling, counter surfing, destructiveness, aggression, fear issues, separation anxiety, house soiling, excessive barking, child/dog interactions, and preparation for a new baby). Methods are dog-friendly, fun, easy to implement, and effective! Because all dogs are different, every training plan is carefully customized to your dog's specific needs.

In addition to private training, we offer top notch, one-of-a-kind board and train programs (in which the dog stays in the trainer's home). We only take a couple of dogs at a time to insure that every dog gets our undivided time, attention, and training. At the end of the board and train program, we train you how to work with your dog and then follow up with a couple of in-home training sessions to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

We also several innovative, small personalized group classes, including: puppy socialization, basic obedience and manners, STAR Puppy, and Canine Good Citizen! Group classes are ideal for young pups that need safe, positive socialization opportunities, and for adolescent or adult dogs that need basic manners, obedience, and distraction work. Our Canine Good Citizen class helps prepare dogs to be good dog citizens and is a perfect prerequisite for soon-to-be therapy dogs. Classes are held in Escondido, and Carlsbad.

Pet sitting is offered in your home or ours. All sitters and dog walkers are bonded, insured, pet first-aid certified, and experienced. They go out of their way to provide lots of fun activities, and TLC for your favorite furry friend.

We also offer overnight boarding (dog stays in our home), and only allow a very limited number of dogs to insure they get the attention they deserve.

We are looking forward to bringing out the best in your furry friend! Drop us an email or give us a call to let us know how we can be of service.

Q&A

Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here.
We offer a standard in-home training package for 3-9 sessions. Prices range from $350 for three sessions to $850 for nine sessions. Packages are customized for you and your dog. The initial consultation/evaluation is $75 for standard obedience and behavioral concerns. There is an additional $20 for separation anxiety or aggression issues. You may also find information and fees for pet sitting, leash training/walking packages, and group classes under our "Services" menu.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Many of my clients call because they require help with behavioral issues, such as puppy training and socialization, house soiling concerns, aggression (dogs and people), fear-related behaviors, excessive barking, boundary training, door bolting, unruliness, jumping on people, counter surfing, chewing, digging, pulling on leash, and separation anxiety. I also work with dogs that are easily distracted or ignore their owner's requests. There are many puppies, for example, that have short attention spans, but that can learn very quickly in a quiet home environment. Once foundational obedience has been mastered, training may be proofed with real-world distractions in order to increase the likelihood of a dog's ability to comply. I believe in using kind, effective methods and equipment. Consistency and good communication skills are a must as is a positive learning environment. I do not use shock collars in my training. I enjoy working with individuals, families (and even young kids), and tailor the lessons to the needs of the individuals and their dogs.
