I’ve been training with Ravi Machado now for about 1 year, and I look forward to our sessions every few weeks.
My initial goals in wanting to hire Ravi as a trainer were to gain strength and improve posture. I already had a good foundation of how to lift weights but with some recent neck and lower back pain I wanted more guidance on lifting with correct technique as to not cause more pain.
Ravi not only has been helpful in those regards, but has taught me a lot more. Sometimes we work out with body weight, or with a combo of weights, and kettlebells. And other times we’ll just focus on Pilates (as he’s a certified instructor), and some sessions we’ll do a combo approach of weights, HIIT training, and Pilates — which is nice and keeps me on my toes not knowing what I’ll expect.
What I’ve learned in my time working with Ravi. I need to stretch more (I have tight hip flexors and hamstrings). The Pilates machines are perfect for doing just this, and even though I dread stretching at times, it’s so necessary to prevent further injuries. I sit and drive a lot for work, and though I’m an active person and fit, he helps me identify those trouble areas of my body that I need to prioritize with stretching (and strengthening) — and we all have them. And not to mention that Pilates is a killer workout!
I’ve learned to focus on my back and strengthen my shoulder/back stabilizers to help combat neck pain which has definitely lessened as a result of working together. I also now know how to properly swing a kettlebell and give myself an awesome leg workout in a short period of time.
If you’re looking to add variety to your workouts, get stronger, become more flexible, improve posture, and become more aware of how your body and muscles behave and hold onto tension, definitely work with Ravi! I promise you you won’t be bored and his down to earth personality and expert knowledge regarding personal training and Pilates will keep you coming back for more workouts.
