Zion Health helped me to be honest with myself. I learned what worked for me to reach my goals such as a tenacious, encouraging trainer who kept me accountable for trainings. I work best in the morning vs afternoons and with in home training. Zion Health also helps with tips and recommendations for eating habits. Goal settings is broken into reachable increments and setbacks are not life shattering. They reset goals, determine what went wrong, and encourage small tweaks. I've lost 30lbs in 6 months with their coaching and discipline.

I've been working out with John for over 3 years, and he has transformed my body. He helped me lose about 13 pounds before my wedding. He's more than just a personal trainer - he's a life and health coach as well. I know if I have any questions about health or what I should be eating, I can always send him a note, and he'll respond. Every workout we do is always different. He keeps things interesting, and I always leave feeling good/sore. John is the best!

I started my spiritual journey around 12 years ago in 2005 when I started chanting the Hare Krsna Maha Mantra. I sort of chanted it by myself; never joining a temple or group. However, it changed my life. I felt as if I 'woke up' at age 22 and ever since it's been quite a journey. Not an easy one... but definitely a journey. I never had the opportunity to learn what meditation was until I had a 3-day retreat at Dada's Anada Marga Retreat Center. There Dada wonderfully played his guitar along with the mantra that he taught us and afterwards we meditated. Meditation is something I have not figured out how to do at home since it's not as peaceful here where I live and I have roommates, but I am sure if I tried I can do it. However, I still sing kiirtan outside during my walks and listen to kiirtan on my laptop at home. Spirituality and awakening your consciousness is important. It's important to everyone. If we ALL did it, it would be a much more peaceful and cleaner planet because we are all living 'consciously'. :) Spirituality is not the easiest journey because it forces you to look inside and sort of work out your issues; but in the process you figure out what is really important and how to properly live. If you are new to attainting a spiritual practice or want to revive your current one, I highly recommend joining Dada on one of his meditation lectures/practices. You wouldn't regret it. The kind of community feeling that the Ananda Marga Retreat Center gives is hard to find. Especially with live wonderful music and yoga too! :) As a note: the way I look at us as souls...When we first come into this world, we sort of have 'dirt' on our souls and we do not shine as 'bright' as we ought to. As we chant, meditate, and have fellowship with other spiritual beings, we awaken our truest self and begin the process of removing the 'dirt', so that we can shine bright again. :)

It has been powerful for me to have Debi as a witness to my transformation. She sees my life challenges clearly and provides feedback in a positive and supportive way. She is quick to point out my successes and shares them with me joyously and enthusiastically. Working with Debi is the best personal investment I have ever made. Nicole is one of the most thoughtful, savvy individuals I have had the privilege of working with. She is masterful at listening, reading between the lines, and suggesting powerful tools that will help advance you toward your goals in new and thoughtful ways. Nicole cares deeply about the individuals she coaches and the rapport you build with her is one-of-a-kind. Nicole has provided me with extensive support as a new manager and helped me successfully navigate a transition to a new company. Her support is immeasurable, puts me at ease, and I highly recommend her to provide a refreshing lens through which to experience your career journey.

I've been working with Arya for about 18 months and I could not be happier with my experience. In our sessions, we focus primarily on how to navigate potential career opportunities and how to understand behavioral patterns that may hinder personal and professional relationships. Without question, his coaching has completely changed the way I understand myself, my behaviors, and the way I hope to interact with the world. He has a pragmatic approach to meeting me where I am, whether that be practical tips to reduce anxiety at work or coping with uncertainty and risk about major life decisions. The sessions have become increasingly more insightful as he learns more and more about me. As others have mentioned, he's also extremely kind, open-hearted, and trained to tackle a spectrum of life's challenges. Far and away the best coach/therapist/spiritual advisor I have ever encountered.

I have been seeing Emily for life coaching for a month - I'm working on sorting out some career and relationship challenges. We've been meeting over the phone when I travel and at a quiet coffee shop when I'm in town. Emily's communication is really wonderful. Sometimes the sessions feel emotionally difficult - and Emily is supportive of my journey. She's never judgmental. She asks deep questions. In my time with Emily I've made progress. I feel better about where I am. I'm really thankful for this great service she offers.

I've been working with Conrad Sherby of Life Sherpa Fitness for more than 2 years and find my weekly sessions with him a true highlight of every week. The gym where he practices is clean and uncrowded and reserved only for trainers with clients. It's a positive place where the trainers and clients are all respectful, happy, and working on their various goals. Conrad is a rare gem of a trainer, although the term "trainer" doesn't begin to cover what he offers! He is truly gifted and fully oriented to helping his clients achieve whatever health/fitness goals they want; heck, if you're not sure of your goals, he'll help you by asking the right questions, getting to know you and your habits, and figuring out plans with you. As you continue your teamwork, Conrad frequently adjusts the trajectory of your workouts and recommendations for you as your body or life events change (eg, you get stronger, you're injured, you're overly stressed from a poor work-life balance, your life has too little happiness at the moment, and so on!). Conrad also has a myriad of excellent referrals for you to increase your wellness, for example, to a massage therapist or gifted yoga instructor. Conrad gave me a reference to my new-favorite cookbook, too. As a true educator, he also will send you interesting and helpful videos, articles, or links to apps you may benefit from. We've even gone on weekend hikes with a small group together--just for fun and camaraderie while exploring something new. Conrad could easily have chosen to become a doctor, neuroscientist, teacher at any level, psychologist/counselor, among others, but it speaks to his passion that he chose what drives him the most: a career as a health/happiness/wellness/mindfulness coach using his large base of knowledge, his passion for science-based information, his innate ability to "get" people, and his orientation toward helping others attain a healthy life that works within their life patterns. He has tremendous patience and never judges others; plus, in between sessions, he will even text you to see how that new "habit" is going (eg, "how's the stretching going during the work day?" "Did you have a chance to step away from the computer and take a walk this week?"). I cannot recommend him highly enough--you deserve a try with Conrad to increase your levels of happiness and overall wellness.

Rachel is the number one, brilliant and genuine Life coach! If you want the results, she is for you! When I was referred to Rachel (she was highly recommended by a dear friend of mine), my life was falling into pieces and I was uncertain which direction should I take to move forward. Rachel helped me in every little detail to transform my life for better professionally and personally, and got the wanted results in a matter of couple sessions, although we continued working together for 6 months because you don't want to stop the pleasure of coaching process and can not get enough! Her vast professional experience is very rare and unique. I would recommend Rachel Jacobs "Jacobs and Associates" to anyone who craves a change, want to improve their career and relationships, open to new opportunities and ready to take new heights. Rachel is highly professional, extremely qualified, resourceful, right to the point, attentive to detail, punctual and fun to be around! Coaching with Rachel will enrich, empower and inspire you! It will help you live the life of your dreams! Coaching sessions with Rachel is a must have for any successful person!!! Fondly, Masha Shidlovskaya

Emily is one of the most amazing, kind, generous, understanding, and intelligent person I met in my entire life. I feel so luck to have her as my mentor in her spiritual workshop! I like to say that my life is divided in two parts: before I met her and after I met her. I asked for her to help me in a decisive moment in my life when I realized I needed help with getting focus in my everyday life. I was kind of lost and she helped me to get back on the track. And she has been doing a great job! We work together in a weekly base and she is always there for me with her wisdom and grace. One of the greatest thing about having her as a mentor is that she helps me to keep a healthy balance between my body and mind. I highly recommend!

I highly recommend Dr Beth Milwid as a career coach. An experienced senior finance executive in the midst of a career transition, I approached Beth after being referred to her by well regarded leadership coaches in the Bay Area. I have appreciated Beth’s knowledge and experience not only of the job-search process, but also with the broader “career coaching” space. Beth provides an impactful blend of strategy and tactics. She applies real world experience and a talent for listening to guide a process that is specific to one’s goals while providing context from best-in-class resources. Beth provides exercises, articles, and online resources to help guide the process from self-assessment to executing networking and search strategies. She is quick to jump into the detail to support opportunities as they arise - rapidly turning around resume, cover-letter, and other communication edits. If you are in the midst of a job search or interested in more fundamental career coaching, I urge you to contact Beth to see what she can do for you.

Laura was my mentor during my time with New Ventures West as I was going through their Life Coaching Program. She was able to provide me with insights into my practices that helped me move forward. She asked me powerful questions when I was "stuck". Her presence in conversation was attuned to my whole self - mind, body and heart. I have been inspired.

I have Natasha as a life coach. She listens and holds me accountable. She checks in on me, texts me, and makes sure that I'm on course. She is loving but tough. She gets excited about my progression, and reminds me to stay positive and patient when I need it most. Her energy is awesome, and I am delighted to have found her.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
