Julie was viola teacher in our El Sistema music program for 2 years, in Montreal. She was a great asset in our team. She is a wonderful teacher, good team worker, organized and very creative.
Linda combines the brilliance of her musical ability with her thoughtful teaching skills. The result is my daughter is learning and loving her lessons.
My daughter has been taking lessons from Carly for 3 months now. Amelia has been playing two years, and the teacher moved, so we were sad. But I am really glad that we found Carly, who has been not only a good teacher for my daughter but also a warm and supportive presence. I highly recommend her!
Kathleen makes every aspect of violin enjoyable. She challenged me to be better, and made learning fun and stress free while doing so. There was never a dull lesson!
Michele is a wonderful teacher! I am taking violin lessons after several years of not playing and she is very encouraging. After years of playing classical music, I am enjoying taking lessons to explore other styles of music, such as folk music. She has an extensive background that allows for this kind of exploration.
Julie Mae is a good violin teacher. I've learned a lot from her. She's very good in teaching her students the right techniques in achieving good intonation and learning how to play the music the right way.
I bought my first Violin at age 50 as a gift to myself. Had always wanted to play and knew it would be a challenge. Then I met Amanda. Within a few months I was playing several songs and enjoying every minute of it. I even played Silent Night for our church just a few months after I had started lessons. Amanda came to the church and played along with me. After just a couple of years I was playing at weddings. I can't say enough good things about Amanda and her teachings. She made it so enjoyable. Proved that old dogs can be taught. My only complaint is that she moved from Indiana to California.
Yuri has been a great teacher so far. We have not covered much yet, but I feel like we are going at a good pace. Her vast experience means she can tell me what skills to focus on early on, and which I can practice once those core skills are done. I feel like I'm building a good base from which to expand.
Having not played for over a decade, I enjoyed picking up the violin again and having lessons with Claire. She made the lessons fun!
I believe it's important for music lessons to be fun. I also believe in laying a firm foundation of technique to avoid injuries and problems later on. Often, teachers can come across too demanding, or they have so much fun in a lesson that the student continues their interest in music without developing the necessary skills to play what they'd like. My experiences have gotten me to the point where I believe I've found an excellent balance.
I give violin or viola lessons to students, from beginner to advanced, for any age. I've taught at UOP, Cal State East Bay and Sonoma State as well as working in the Oakland public schools with young students. Come and have a first lesson for free! I'm located in Emeryville. I charge $60.00 an hour or $70 if I go to your house. I have many many references from all the satisfied students in over 30 years that I've been teaching.
Flexibility on our lessons plan and schedules. We tailored the lessons to the needs of the students, not other way around. We allow flexibility in the scheduling without compromising the quality of service we have been providing for over 15 years.

Here is a little about my teaching: There are two approaches we can take to your lessons: hobbyist or more serious. If you are looking to learn a musical instrument as a hobby, we will focus on basic technique and note reading while building some beginning repertoire. For those wishing to pursue music more seriously, I believe in a strong foundation of technique, music theory, and ear training as well as building a repertoire that will serve you well for future auditions. I also believe it is important to learn to practice efficiently and be unafraid to explore your musical ideas. If you aren't quite sure where you want your musical journey will take you, we will work together to figure out what works best for you. I am currently a San Francisco based professional violist with a background in both violin and viola performance. I graduated from the Juilliard Pre College and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and my primary musical activity right now is being the violist in the San Francisco based Friction Quartet. Though I personally started violin lessons at a young age, I strongly believe that any age can be the right age to learn a musical instrument. I am available to teach at my house in the Sunset, come to your apartment or workplace, or we can meet at a music studio near you. In addition, maintaining a flexible schedule is important to me as I understand that your schedule may change week to week. Lessons are offered semiweekly, weekly, or every other week. How often we schedule lessons is up to you. I offer the following pricing: * 30 minutes - $35 * 45 minutes - $50 * 60 minutes - $60 Please feel free to contact me with any questions!

My studio is a 5-day-a-week, one-stop shop where both students and/or adults may rent, purchase and/or repair their string instruments as they attend lessons at the same Heaney Violins location. I teach Suzuki method piano, violin, viola, guitar, beginning cello, and recorder beginning from ages 2 1/2 upwards. Voice is also taught and other instruments including ukelele, mandolin, banjo and harmonica. South Indian karnatak violin is also an option. Biannual recitals are held closely to the Mountain View studio location, and monthly group classes are also encouraged along with weekly instruction. Younger Suzuki students must be accompanied by parents who will learn along with their child how to play their instrument of choice.
