What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes. I go to seminars, workshops, and classes with other criminal defense and DUI lawyers to stay current on changes within the fields of criminal defense and DUI enforcement.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I had been a police officer for a few years when I decided to go to law school. I wanted to help people avoid the harsh consequences of a system that rewards aggressive cops and prosecutors for arrests and convictions but does not reward the most honest cops or the most honest prosecutors.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Getting charges dismissed. Getting felonies reduced to misdemeanors. Winning trials. Getting probation terminated early. Getting clients out of jail. Appealing decisions by bad judges. Getting old charges dismissed through expungement. Suing police departments.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I just got two domestic violence cases dismissed in one week. And I got a speeding ticket dismissed that same week. None of the charges have been refiled.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask a lot of questions before you hire a criminal defense attorney. Find out how much experience he/she has in doing trials. Find out what his/her strategy will be if you hire him/her. Check out his/her rating on the Avvo website. Get 3 or 4 price quotes before you select an attorney.
