Marissa was always incredible to work with. She always kept things fun and interesting, while still making sure I was doing what I needed to do to succeed. I would 100% recommend her to anyone interested in tutoring help.
I had heard of Arbor Tutors through a friend. I hired them to help my daughter with chemistry and math. She ended up with As. Great tutoring. Great price. Super happy with the service I received. FANTASTIC
STEM Academy offers quick response times for inquiries and follow up questions. The tutor they sent me was polite with a great work ethic, my daughter enjoys her time with her tutor.
Alan began tutoring me for College Algebra at Moorpark College in October, 2012 when I was really struggling and not sure I would get a passing grade. We met a few times a week until the final exam. Because of his patience and help, I was able to get a B in the class. When I began Calculus in January, 2013 Alan and I met about once a week throughout the semester. I was able to ask questions and complete all of my homework and projects that were assigned each week. I received an A in this class. Alan is very kind with a great demeanor and was always happy to answer questions and go over material more than once to be sure I understood. He is a reliable, intelligent person with a good sense of humor.
Sabari Somanathan is an outstanding tutor, his methods of teaching and making his student understand what they are learning affect them greatly. He was always a very outgoing and positive person to be around. All in all Sabari is a hard working, resourceful, and friendly tutor.
Best tutor ever. We focused on algebra for my little Timmy and it was like night and day. Matt makes it fun and is very patient.
I met Arnie in the company I'm currently work for. He was my English tutor and we have 1-hour class once a week. Arnie helped me a lot with my English pronunciation and presentation skills. Now I'm much more confident of talking to my colleagues during work and giving presentations in company meetings.
So far so good! We have only had two sessions, but Megan seems great and definitely knows her stuff.
Udo is an amazing tutor. He tutored me for two very different classes. One was a first quarter physics course, and the other being a discrete mathematics course. He always hit the nail on the head with explanations and examples that really helped me succeed in both classes. He broke down complex physics problems into very simple and memorable steps and took confusing math concepts and made them easy to remember and execute. On top of that he is super friendly, nice, and very compassionate to make sure there's an great understanding of the material at hand. I wouldn't be the major I am today without him.
I recently took piano lessons from Virginia's Music and Tutoring and was completely satisfied with the lessons. They were modified for my level of knowledge and everyday was filled with new and fun challenges.
Super cute, smart and fun. He is just like Khal Drogo only better.
Teresa is a wonderful tutor. Her competence, skill and knowledge are exceptional. She knows how to bring out the best in each of her students and gives them the confidence they need to succeed. You won't be disappointed in choosing her!
Ian was very patient with me not understanding the material. Was always punctual for our meetings. Was flexible when it came to scheduling a tutoring session and the location of where we would meet.
I'm a professional tutor, and I'm a few weeks away from receiving my CA teaching credential, so the experience is definitely there!
I am offering my services as a seasoned one-on-one SAT tutor. My qualifications: I have a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Maryland. For two years during college, I tutored students taking Intermediate Macro and Microeconomics. Before moving to California, I worked as an after school tutor for the Baltimore City School System. I've also been a tutor here in Santa Barbara for two years, making this my fourth year of test-prep tutoring. In my experience with major test prep companies, I have found that SAT tutors generally receive about ten hours of training and teach dogmatically from a set curriculum. This amount of training is inadequate and the curriculum taught is too rigid to allow for the realization of maximum potential in a student. A student needs an instructor that has worked through a multitude of test questions and has independently developed multiple strategies for approaching even the most difficult SAT questions with confidence, comfort, and ease. It is a source of personal pride for me to say that I have worked through the vast majority of test prep material on market and separated the quality training material from the fluffy dross that populates the bookshelves at your local bookstore. I have developed my own style of SAT training that is custom tailored to every student. In just a few hours, my students command a complete understanding of the test itself and many strategies used to improve (and later perfect) overall scores. From there I focus on building skills quickly and effectively through intense "answer and review" sessions that improve scores every single lesson. Every student has strengths and weaknesses when it comes to taking the SAT. Our goal together will be to identify weak points quickly and to fill in those gaps with directed practice. The rates I offer are quite reasonable and I teach from many convenient locations in the Santa Barbara area. If you are interested, contact me via email or phone and I will schedule a time for us to meet. Also, find me on craigslist.
I first started tutoring students when I became a Teacher's Aid at University of California, Santa Cruz. Since then I have held both one-on-one and group tutoring sessions through the university in math, economics and science. I have also taught English as a second language, and have taken extensive coursework in Spanish. I am patient, work well with all different levels of students, and believe that having a good relationship with your teacher is a key to learning well.
