FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For copywriting from scratch, I can usually give a fixed quote, depending on the project. For editing projects, it's often not possible to establish the exact scope of the work until you start working and analyzing exactly what the piece needs. It's like taking your car to the dealer for repairs. His initial diagnosis of the problem may change once he starts poking around in the engine. For that reason, editing is usually calculated on an hourly basis. Where possible, I give a rough estimate up front.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First we connect by phone so that I can get a sense of them and what they want. Then I review their material. If I feel it's a fit for us to work together, I give a rough price estimate - if possible - and an estimated time line.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Website copy, sales letters, articles, ebooks, special reports, proposals and opt-in freebies. Recently I edited narratives to present to attorneys in a case involving a dispute over a family trust. My part did not require legal knowledge. My client simply needed to tell the facts of her story in a concise, sincere manner, without emotion.
