"Leo has been my personal trainer for nearly 16 years. During that time, his instruction has been professional, caring, and geared to my personal needs and capabilities. I feel that my overall health, strength, stability, and knowledge that I have about my own physical abilities are due in large part to my association with Leo. I appreciate his accommodating my schedule, the flexibility of our sessions, and the comfortable, friendly vibe of our time together. He not only works on strength training, but is also able to incorporate core work, balance, compound exercises, hand/eye coordination, flexibility, endurance, and nutrition information, all with encouragement and positive reinforcement."

"Healing Miracle Massage was amazing! They were on time and prepared with everything. They were very clean, with disposable face cloths for the massage chair and wiping down all of the chairs and table after each massage. There was a nice flow for our 60 employees to take turns getting massaged. The only suggestion we have would be to bring some sort of aromatherapy scent so that while getting the massage, people could also smell something nice. All of our empoyees had nothing but great things to say about their massages and we hope to book Healing Miracle Massage again very soon!"

"One of the best massages! Had some bad neck pain that he worked on as well as a regular full body massage and my neck pain was gone shortly after! I was nervous having a male come to my house since I was home alone and had never done that before but he was nothing but PROFESSIONAL. A+"

"I've been a furniture designer for many many, years. So I should know a thing or two about massage therapists. Nobody combines the ability to soothe with the savant-like intuition about what it takes to undo a knot, relieve a pinched nerve without surgery (I should know), and generally give you the feeling on a Wednesday night that you just had a relaxing weekend. Chris Saves! Lol"

"Jeremy is a highly skilled massage therapist. He makes a calming atmosphere and engages in pleasant conversation while doing the massage. Most importantly he is able to “fix” muscular problems in the body. I have gone to him unable to move my neck and after one massage I had regained 90% of my mobility and 100% after a nights nest. He has saved me from taking time off from work and from using pain medicine. Jeremy is the real deal when it comes to massage therapy."

"Lama Jigme Tenzin has a powerful gift of Tibetan Buddhist healing energy that he is able to transmit during treatments. The effects of his spiritual massage reach levels way beyond traditional massage. Jigme's gift most certainly developed as a result of years living and training as a Buddhist monk and Lama. We are fortunate he came to the West and is offering this deeply beneficial, one-of-a-kind service. His treatments reach way beyond the physical body, and leave you feeling a deeper connection to the Spirit within. Highly recommended. Julie Lilly-Belote and William Belote"

"Lisa Spirito of Cloud 9 is the utmost professional in this business. I have been having massage of various types from her for about 15 years. She is ultimately friendly, accommodating & sensitive to the customer needs. Lisa is always ready to assess a customer's pain & structure to see where they need help beyond what the client tells her. Sometimes she can feel things & points them out & they are right on target! Lisa can give a variety of massage types: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Lymphatic, Sports Injury, & probably more depending on what you want & can change then to suit from visit to visit. Lisa has a wonderful method & she has been doing this for many years, & it shows in her rhythm & pressure & timing. I never want it to end when the time comes! Lisa is willing to travel & can do work massages too if you need visits there. She is licensed & has both table & chair for massage. If you have a group of overworked, stressed employees, what better way to increase productivity than scheduling a day of appointments at work & letting staff unwind their desk posture for 20 minutes? I highly recommend Lisa Spirito for any massage needs you may have, even post surgery or injury. It's my pleasure to refer her. Good luck & enjoy."

"Ms. Chong was able to provide an amazing massage unlike any i've ever experienced before. She was able to establish a calm, peaceful setting that helped clear my mind and helped me feel relaxed even before the massage began! I can tell she has some kind of therapeutic background the way that she listened to me de-stress and helped me go through some mindfulness exercises. Her massage was very professional and I could tell she has very skilled Thai techniques with just the right amount of force in the right pressure points in my neck and back. I immediately felt better after the massage and the way she listened and talked to me was almost as helpful as the massage was! Overall a great experience that I would recommend to anyone"

"My massage was very relaxing and Kaz is very skilled at finding tight areas and understands what is causing them. He helped me understand better the tightness in my neck, and showed me some stretches to help me relax those muscles. Very therapeutic in aligning my lower back. My right hip tends to be higher than my lefts after a fall 10 years ago. Management of hip balance is one of his specialties. It was like getting a massage and adjustment at the same time!! He really understands the body. His acupressure method is very effective on trigger points and relaxing at the same time. "

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

  • Relieving tension headaches
  • Decreasing back pain
  • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
  • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.
