Carl is an excellent tutor. We hired him for sat prep plus his ability to help our son catch up on his studies. He is very knowledgeable on what kids need help on and how to engage them. Our son loves working with him and wants to learn. We chose Carl because he has tremendous experience as an educator plus has an east coast background which was extremely important to us. He has proven to be a wise choice and we are so happy to be working with him. A month into this we are very happy. As parents, we have made the right decision. Carl is an excellent teacher. He is tough, challenging and inspiring. Even as two ivy-league graduates, we respect his advice on our son in regards to grammar and literature. Overall, we are extremely pleased with our decision.
I am currently studying for the GRE. Lois is evey knowledgeable and so far has given me great tips.
Daniel tutored me for about 8 weeks, 2-3 times a week for the GRE. He was friendly, knew his stuff, and definitely helped me to remember my high school math from over 5 years ago. Great tutoring experience!
We chose Elite and were so happy we did! My son struggled in math and he needed more support than the school offered. College prep is tough, I couldn't even help him! Haha Well, we called Elite and Eric matched him up with Tony. We liked that Tony came to our house for a free session before I had to commit to ordering sessions. I always wondered how that worked so you know your kid will for sure like the tutor and want to learn! We're very pleased, thanks again.
My review is a bit early because we have only had one lesson so far but I have to say Lawrence and my son clicked immediately. I had a phone conversation with Lawrence that lasted about 30 minutes before his first visit to go over what my son needed help with and what our goals were. At that time we decided to wait on his PTSA scores before Lawrence's first visit. Then when he came to our home it was right down to business with my 16 year old. Lawrence called me after the initial prep with my son to go over how he felt about the session and his expectations. Lawrence did give my son some homework (minor) but he did tell me this will increase. We have scheduled his second visit. Lawrence is doing prep for SAT's.
Math tutoring for my son to prep for the SAT. Went great Mr. Reid helped my son feel more confident in math.
In a word, Amazing! Randy tutored my 16-17 year old son, who has ADHD, for Algebra II last year and for SAT prep this year. Randy is extraordinarily patient and invested in his students' success. He is very affable and makes the sessions enjoyable. He goes above and beyond....and even helped my son with an English paper after his Algebra II session on one occasion! My son performed well in Algebra II and his SAT score increased 250 points with Randy in the first 8 weeks of commencing SAT tutoring with him! Randy is absolutely my go-to guy for my other kids! Hire him now...you can rest assured that your student is receiving the best support available!
I can't say emphatically enough how much my son gained from Rainbow: he took the Paving the Way to College workshop and used Rainbow tutors to prep for college entrance exams. A special shout out to Joe, who always made time and was so encouraging. The results speak for themselves: my son ultimately got to choose from numerous terrific colleges. Thank you, Rainbow!
I used Arbor Tutors for my SAT test prep and I definitely plan to use them again when I take my GRE in a couple of years.
I started working with Stable Genius Prep in January to prepare for the General GRE. We assessed right away that the Quantitative material was my weak spot, and where I'd need the most help. I'm the type of person who really has to be able to understand something before I can master it, and I don't naturally think mathematically. In other words I can't just memorize formulae and when to apply them. Andrew was excellent with this. Even when I got answers right, he would make sure to go over with me what the principles were behind the problem. He has clearly had much experience tutoring pupils. Perhaps what had the most impact on me, and on my desire to work hard, was the patience he exhibited; it may have not even registered with him, but I noticed it. In the beginning I worked at an excruciatingly slow pace through everything from Arithmetic to Statistics and Probability. It took two hours just to get through ten problems. By the end of our prep, I was able to work through the same number of questions in about 15-20 minutes, and at a high level of difficulty. While my essay writing is normally solid, it was difficult to exhibit that within the 30 minute time limit. Andrew reviewed my practice essays with me and really helped me to develop strategies to write strong essays that follow the test instructions within the time allotted. Ultimately my Math score went from the 48th percentile up to the 83rd percentile! I couldn't be happier with my experience, and with the results we were able to get. I say "we" because by the end I felt like we were a team, with Andrew as my coach. He is a master of the material, and he understands how to teach it effectively. I definitely recommend Stable Genius Prep to anyone looking not only to get over a certain threshold, but to really maximize their potential and do as well as they possibly can!
What a pleasure to work with. I met Jonathan at a college fair, and from the first call to the last session it was just fabulous. College admissions is very stressful as you know, and I'm so lucky to have found these guys. Thank you so much for everything. I've been referring all of my friends to you, so you should be hearing from them. Thank you again. Barbara
I was one of Stephen students for an ACT prep class More MOSTE(College Prep Program) was offering. He is a great teacher, I learned all the stratgeies he taught and I knew how to apply them on my test. He helped me understand what challenges I was going to face in the ACT by providing me with several practice test, and then reviewing on what I did bad to work on my weaknesses. He broke every section down such as the reading, science, math, and english. He took each section and explain the stratgeies that would be used to break down the question and find the answer quickly. He always answered any question that did come up from my other classmates and myself. As a teen it was hard for me to wake up early to these weekend classes, but I can honestly say I really did anything to not miss his class. I really enjoyed his classes, and what I really like about Stephen was the confidence he gave the whole class. Without his help I feel I couldn't have gotten the score I did.
I had the good fortune of finding James Nassir when I had 4 college math classes to take, including Statistics. Math is not my strong area, but with James excellent tutoring I made "A"s in all 4 classes! He is patient and explains everything clearly and directly and is flexible with tutoring times and locations! So glad to have had his help!
I would highly recommend Great Expectations College Prep for anyone with a child planning to attend college!! I've had two daughters go through her program. From SAT/ACT prep to the college application process. Jennifer and her staff gave my girls the confidence and knowledge to take ownership of the college process. Jen and her staff gave all the tools my girls needed to do their best on their tests and guide them through the schools that best met all their needs. The entire process was VERY easy, without stress and my girls happy. I'll be using them for daughter no. 3 in a few years.
Evan began working with our daughter to prep for the ISEE High School Placement Test. He was patient and very structured in attacking the materials that needed to get covered for her test prep. They made very good progress and she improved significantly in understanding how to take the test and the materials. She ended up with very good scores on her test. In the process of working with our daughter, we asked if he could help with our 5th grade son who struggles with reading comprehension. He began working with our son in helping him develop a better understanding of what he is reading. My son has improved since working with Evan and is enjoying reading much more than before he started working with Evan.
Hands in the air for the BEST LSAT TUTOR PERIOD. I was weary of spending more money but I heard she was especially gifted with teaching applied logic to people who "should" be scoring higher but aren't. After our 3 sessions, we changed my entire approach and I am officially +11 from last summer. I told her she should double her price, she changed the trajectory of my life --I'm going to Vandy! She can take the most complex abstract concepts and convey them in a way that suddenly *clicks* without any condescence or sublte remarks for having taken two paid-for prep classes already. She's a Polly-Anna for late-bloomers/mom's/40+ and everyone else going back to school and I highly recommend her.
I have been specializing in SAT and ACT prep since 2005. Other subjects include math, science, reading, writing, and social studies. I also have extensive experience with English language learners and students with learning differences. I separate myself from the crowd by having a deep knowledge of the SATs and ACTs and my ability to form great working relationships with a variety of students.

My specialty with the pro-literacy programs, classrooms, group dynamics as well as tutoring and preparing learners for testing has been reading, math and art. I also specialize in utilizing creative learning and test-taking anxiety techniques with individuals who learn differently. I realize and recognize the challenges and struggles often experienced during the learning process; therefore, communication is vital! We will establish goals and by-when dates during the initial meeting. Reaching goals and learning how to exercise your potential is most important. Students who are committed to their stated goals will do well but will be challenged with homework assignments. Completion of challenging but not overwhelming homework is a key component to the learning process for the learner as well as for the teacher/tutor. I pride myself in providing reasonable accommodations as needed, maintaining a flexible schedule and being prompt. My expectations include reciprocal respect, open communication and sharing real concerns. I care enough to give constructive feedback and expect the same from each individual I work with. My cancellation policy is a 24-hour notice for both of us. We can always reschedule for another time when we both are available. Three consecutive absences will cause for an assessment, reevaluation and redetermination. Your success is what really matters. I will always check in with you to see how things are going and hope that you will share any concerns as well. I believe in a quiet learning environment, such as a library, for best results. Distractions such as phone calls can disrupt progress. I'm looking forward to partnering with you as we diligently work towards your desired goals.
