Bruce was the best. He was ON TIME!!! He had a long commute with traffic, but still called and made it. He kept his promise to the $$ amount he quoted me. Even when I did not have the right sink/part, he came to the Home Depot with me to get/advise of the things I needed. Even when Home Depot, didnt have what I needed, he called a local contractors only store and they had exactly what I needed. He was very neat, clean, friendly and professional, but most of all, HONEST!! Price was great, The only down side....There is so much more I want him to do now Im not sure where to begin. I will use him again and refer him to others.

Highly recommend Juan for any plumbing projects. His work is very professional. He is easy to communicate with and a good guy to chat with. He quickly repiped a couple pipes and capped another. He had all of the parts in his van which made the whole appointment quick and painless. He left the job site cleaner than when he showed up..didn't leave a message like some contractors tend to do

First off, Allan is a solid guy. Good character. OCD about getting things right. Trustworthy. Cares personally. He is technically astute and is not intimidated by complicated appliances such as Grohe. Secondly, his pricing is reasonable. He will work with you. In my case, over about 5 months, he had about 4 bathrooms, multi valve hansgrohe shower, soaking tub, infinity drain, tankless hot water system, outdoor pvc, rain capture, natural gas conversion, drains for various appliances such as ice maker and air con, and several dishwashers. He dealt with rigid gas lines and worked well alongside GC. No need to concern yourself with warranty because he is a stand up guy and will come out in a moments notice to make sure things are working fine. I dealt with many many trades and he is one of the very few who developed into an all star.

As a contractor I'm particular about other contractors. I've also had a number of plumbers out to the house and have never called the same one back twice. Anthony will be the first I will call back. Super nice guy, prompt, and easy to contact. The price was also equal to or better than the other plumbers I've called. He got to the house and had the drain unclogged in no time. This is after I used my own snake, then went out and rented a 50' electric snake from Home Depot, spent hours on the drain, and finally gave up and called Anthony. I would highly recommend him for your drainage, hot water heater, most of your plumbing needs.

Moises installed a new toilet, shower head extension, and caulked a bathtub. He did all of the work quickly and efficiently, and was so professional and personable. To my surprise, his helper laid down a cloth tarp from the front door all the way to the bathroom so shoe prints and dripping water were handled. He arrived at the scheduled time and did an amazing job. I will definitely use him again.

Scott was great to work with, he gave me suggestions that helped me to decide just what I wanted done. Scott is a hands on contractor and did most of the work himself. He drove to a previous job site so I could visually see what I was getting. I decided on a diamond pattern with broom brush in in different directions and a boarder around the edge of the driveway. The effect was assume, by using this pattern it gave the driveway the look of using different shades of concrete(no color was used). this is by far the best looking driveway in the neighborhood. his workmanship added many more dollars in value to my home. thank-you Scott. Dan Ross a happy home owner.

I originally used Haggerty Construction a few yer ago for improvements to my rental properties. The crews always showed up on time. And were always professional. They finished on or ahead of schedule and were always able to work within my budget. Because of this I decided to use them for a small but high end bathroom in my own home. My wife and I were very pleased with the outcome. Haggerty Construction is the only contractor I will use for all my Construction needs.

Very grateful I came across thumbtack, as it connected me with different contractors. Joe gave me an exact estimate for my kitchen remodel. I choose him to remodel my kitchen, since he answered my questions in an upfront manner, without any sales pitch or feel. Plus, he was the only contractor who gave me an exact quote, unlike the other contractors who had said they could only give me an approximate estimate. Joe was always calm and in control during the remodeling process and helped me feel calm throughout the process. My kitchen is unrecognizable, and that is a good thing. A complete makeover! Ecstatic with the results. I highly recommend!

I hired Inside Out Contractors to remodel my master bath. First of all, the quote I received was so reasonable that I was able to remodel both my master bath, and a half bath for less than what several other contractors had quoted me to do just one bathroom. And when I got the final invoice, there were no surprises or extra charges that I had not previously agreed to. The only additional charges were for extras that I had requested. Brad with Inside Out was great to work with. He was very helpful in suggesting different options and ideas, and never tried to “upsell” me or tell me I needed to fix or replace things that weren’t necessary. He even met me at Home Depot so I could show him exactly what I wanted. When we started the project, Brad showed up on time, worked quickly and efficiently, and cleaned up every day before he left. He finished the project when he said he would, and I couldn’t be happier. Both bathrooms look great! I would highly recommend InsideOut contractors if you are considering doing a remodel. I was very impressed with the service, the price, and most importantly, the quality of the work. I will definitely use them again in the future. Mark J. Agoura Hills, CA

We needed a room addition. Prior to hiring HLS we had 3 contractors give us estimates. Mike the owner of HLS was the 4th contractor who gave us an estimate. After evaluating all 4 estimates we decided to go with Mike because we saw Mike as a contractor and as a construction company owner who exercises very strong project management, problem solving and organizational skills, which we considered could bring special advantage to our project. Mike and his team performed strongly and Mike was hands on. We are greatly thrilled with the quality HLS has delivere.

We had 3 bathrooms remodeled by hillstar construction, which included 2 complete remodels (master bath and Jack/Jill) and 1 minor updating of guest bath. This is our first remodeling experience and lior and his crew made every effort to accommodate our needs and requests. We relied on lior advise for details and very happy of the outcome. lior responded promptly and communicated well, and his attention to details was really good. We also noticed that hillstar construction used higher end product than other contractors when we compared the estimates and asked specific questions. They installed frameless glass showers and completely replaced floors on two bathroom, changed countertops to quartz replaced we actually had to change painter (from different paint company) to lior crew as we did not like the original work. lior crew completely removed wall paper before painting, which original paint person could not do. Major part of renovation was completed less than 2 weeks, just couple of hours for installing glass showers later and some paint work due to change of painter along the way. Overall, we are extremely satisfied with the quality of the work done and the outcome. Also, LIOR went beyond as a contractor as to helping us manage the house while we were away during renovation, and it is very much appreciated. Bottom line, he can really be trusted for the quality of work he provides.

How do I plan a bathroom remodeling project?

If you’re stumped on how to plan a bathroom remodeling project, it pays to hire a designer. This is especially important if you’re changing your bathroom layout in any way. Designers create contractor-friendly drawings indicating exactly where each tile and fixture will be installed, down to the light switches. This investment might cost you $300-$500 but save you significant frustration and miscommunication, while ensuring you get precisely what you want.

If you’re going to do your own design, planning a bathroom remodeling project means being organized and planning ahead. Create a general outline of what you want and the budget you have. Identify the specific fixtures, tiles, paint and vanity you prefer. Get all this organized before requesting quotes from two to three reputable general contractors. Once you find the right pro, get a written contract outlining scope of work, materials that will be used, timeframe and payment schedule. Communicate clearly about when to order your materials so they are ready and waiting by the time the contractor gets the permits. Your job from here is to communicate clearly, pay the contractor as the work progresses, and enjoy your remodel when it’s done.

Where should I start when remodeling a bathroom?

Bathroom remodeling doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Before starting a bathroom remodel it’s crucial to know what you want and have a clear understanding of your maximum budget. If you’d love all marble fixtures but have $3,000 total, you will have to compromise. Being realistic about materials and money before you even contact a contractor will have you on the road to success. Here are some simple steps to follow in the planning stages of bathroom remodeling:

  • List your remodeling priorities in order of importance (e.g., 1. New shower head, 2. Replace flooring, 3. Install recessed lighting, etc.).
  • Calculate what you can realistically afford to spend on your bathroom remodel. Identify an “all in” price — meaning the absolute maximum you’re willing to pay, as well as what you’d prefer to spend.
  • Gather ideas from Pinterest about colors and finishes.
  • Research the costs of the materials and finishes you want and begin making choices about what is and isn’t possible to fit into your budget (once labor is included). If you’d like to stay under $10,000 total, but really love a $2,000 tub, plan to downgrade in other areas.
  • Request quotes from at least three reputable general contractors, share your vision and ideal materials, and work together from there.

How long should a bathroom remodel take?

With proper planning and a good general contractor, your bathroom remodeling project doesn’t have to take forever. The construction phase of the project will always vary based on your scope of work, the square footage and the condition of your bathroom under the surface layer. Inevitably an 80-square-foot master bathroom with major changes will take longer than a 25-square-foot guest bath undergoing a minor renovation. For a smaller bathroom, a facelift — the industry term for sprucing up the surface layer (such as paint, vanity, tiles or light fixtures) but keeping the existing footprint of the space — may take five to eight working days, as long as there are no surprises like mold waiting when the old vanity comes out. A more complex bathroom remodel that revamps the shower area (customizing the plumbing, installing tile and changing the shower door), updates the flooring and cabinetry, and adds new paint and new lighting could take anywhere from one week to three weeks. A full bathroom remodel that guts the room, changing the footprint and moving the electrical wiring and plumbing lines, could take four to eight weeks or more. To keep your bathroom remodel on schedule, have your materials ordered and waiting, and don’t make any change orders once construction begins. Planning is key to keeping a bathroom remodel on schedule.

How do I remodel my bathroom?

Bathroom remodeling is made up of three general phases. The first phase is the planning and permitting phase, in which you determine exactly what you want, what materials and finishes will be used, and what the end product will look like. If you’re competent with design you can handle the planning yourself, or you may hire an interior designer to guide you. During this phase you’ll also hire a general contractor who can help execute your remodel vision, coordinating and overseeing all the subcontractors required to do the bathroom remodeling (plumbers, flooring pros, etc.). When your plan is finalized, your contractor should obtain permits for the work you want done. During this time you’ll work together to order all the materials so they’ll be ready and waiting when it’s time to start construction.

The second phase is construction. Bathroom remodeling typically starts with demolition, removing the old floors, shower and vanity to make way for the new. Delays in delivery of materials, or changing your mind and ordering different materials halfway into the project, will mean that construction has to pause until the new materials arrive. Each subcontractor is dependent on the next to do their work, and the general contractor should keep things moving along at the proper timeline, ensuring that the right materials are available and dealing promptly with any unexpected repairs, such as damage discovered behind the walls or under the floor. The general contractor will also coordinate inspections from the necessary officials if you’ve moved load-bearing walls or done electrical or plumbing work. After construction is complete, the final phase of bathroom remodeling is addressing your punch list. These are all the items that need to be corrected before final payment is handed over to the contractor.

How much does it cost to remodel a bathroom?

Nationally, the average cost of bathroom remodeling is $14,000. Bathroom remodels can vary widely, from standard makeovers to luxurious master bathroom revamps. The factors that affect your bathroom remodeling cost are the finishes you choose (marble tiles can cost 20 times as much as standard subway tiles), the square footage of the project, regional labor rates in your area and the scope of work. Changing the layout or size of the bathroom will also raise costs. Moving electrical wiring and plumbing lines will also dramatically increase costs, as you’ll need to hire plumbers and electricians to handle the work. What’s happening behind your walls and under your floor will also affect bathroom remodeling cost: Rot, damage or mold can lead to additional work and charges. Overall, bathroom remodeling may offer great return on investment and also improve your daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom remodeling costs:

  • 6-foot by 6-foot bathroom remodel: $3,500, including labor and materials.
  • Standard renovation: $6,500-$10,000. Price includes labor and materials the customer has purchased. Labor may include taking out the shower and shower pan, installing new shower pan and shower, and installing new door, new vanity, new mirror, new bathroom fan, and all new fixtures.
    • Price variation depends on the quality of the finishes.
  • 10-foot by 6-foot bathroom remodel: $7,200, including labor and materials.
  • Mid-range renovation: $12,000-$15,000. Price includes labor and materials the customer has purchased.
  • Upscale renovation: $35,000 and up. Price includes labor and materials. Items might include digital displays for fixtures, multiple shower heads and custom showers.
