I chose private lessons versus some language school because I was hoping it will get me to learn faster and what I really need. And I was right. And the next good choice I made I chose Pablo to be my language teacher! I knew zero Spanish, but after the first lesson I already knew how to read, how to pronounce, basic expressions and numbers! After couple of classes I started creating sentences and was able to understand a little bit. What I like the most, he adjusts all the material based on my needs. There is no useless learning of words you might never ever use in real life. He teaches what you need and after couple of months I'm already able to understand and have a basic conversation with my clients. He is also flexible with time and location, which made it very convenient for me. But it's not only that Pablo is a good teacher he also has a great, interesting personality. He is a great motivator as well and always finds smth positive to say, to encourage, to make me believe I'm doing great! In my opinion it is very important when you are trying to learn smth new. He gets a feeling on how much he can push you and sometimes I get surprised myself of what I can say in Spanish already! So to sum everything, if you want to learn language in a friendly environment, your learning material to be adjusted to your personal needs and have a competent teacher who sees a potential in you, you will definitely not go wrong with Pablo.
I have been using Noelle for spanish lessons twice a week. I was a complete beginner. Noelle is extremely patient and a pleasure to deal with. She is very encouraging and has an extremely pleasant manner about her. She is very professional and it is readily apparent that she takes great pride in her work and cares very much that you learn the proper way. I would highly recommend her! Ron S
Franco is a great tutor/teacher. He focuses more on speaking and listening and responding. If learning from a book is something you prefer he can do that as well. I've had one session so far but i was able to pin point some words people were saying to me. I do truly recommend giving him a chance if Spanish is the language you want to learn.
I don't have enough words to talk about how much I love working with Elsa. She is more then just a Spanish teacher, she feels more like family to me now. She is always prompt, brings fun and energizing lessons each week, and keeps it tailored to my goals and personalizes it to your learning style. I have only been with her for a few months and I couldn't have learned what I know now from any book or impersonal class. Im looking forward to many more lessons to come.
Ray has been tutoring my daughter for over 3 months now and we have seen a great improvement in her math grade. I had tried three tutors before I found Ray and I am so thankful that we did. I explained to him that my daughter was having a difficult time in her Algebra class and that I was having a hard time explaining it, as it is the new common core method. I mentioned to him that my daughter is very shy and I wasn't sure he would get her to talk much but to my surprise, he really has done a great job in getting her to talk through each math problem. He engages my daughter and encourages questions especially when he suspects she isn't really sure on a particular math problem. I can't give enough praise to Ray; he is always on time and gets right to work, he never leaves unless he's sure my daughter understands the math lesson. My family and I are very pleased with the progress my daughter has made and we would highly recommend Ray to any parent that needs a math tutor.
Great Spanish teacher for my children! Not just teacher also life coach.... Thanks Marcela
Marcelo is a native Spanish speaker, has lived in Pasadena for many years, and was an architect before he retired. He is a very pleasant person, and very easy to talk to. He is very flexible and non-dogmatic in his approach to teaching Spanish, and adapts his teaching style to his students' preferences. In our sessions we work through a Spanish language text book and do reading, writing and speaking exercises. As I have become more proficient, our lessons have focused more on conversation, which I enjoy. Among other things, Marcelo is an interesting person with a wealth of experiences, and conversations with him are always interesting. While not fluent, I have gotten to the point where I feel relatively confident in carrying on a basic conversation. Marcel is completely reliable...he never misses a scheduled session, and he is extremely punctual.
I took Spanish lessons with Leandro for some months. His classes are very dynamic, full of interesting topics to talk about, and his explanations very clear. Overall, an excellent experience - Florence
Jude is incredibly kind. I have been trying to learn Spanish on Duolingo for years and I really only came out with some good vocab. Judy offers a learning situation you cannot receive from any app- real life conversation, immediate correction and guidance, and the patience to work with you until you have it down. Seeking out Jude was the BEST thing I’ve ever done for my Spanish education, communicating and practicing with a real Spanish speaking person. There’s no better way to learn a language except for immersion. You’ll leave jude feeling like you just stepped out of Mexico!

I grew up part of my life in Los Angeles, California, and the other part in Merida Yucatan in Mexico. I have taught Spanish both to retirees living in Mexico from United States and Europe and in the United States. This is a side job I do about 8 to 10 hours per week. I am completely fluent in both English and Spanish. I am self-taught in Spanish, and although I am fluent now, when I was young, I had to figure the language out for myself. This gives me an edge that native Spanish speakers don't have. I have always gotten a lot of good feedback from everyone I have tutored in Spanish, and I hope to work with you in the near future!
