Frank/Stratton Termite & Roofing Solutions, Inc. was great! . I discovered only one location at cable box but He was thorough, inspected all areas of my home for termite activity/damage including on the ceiling. Interior, exterior. After inspected Frank treated the spot area for dry wood termites with the price very reasonable and providing one year warranty for my house. In the future without hesitation and will use this company and Mr Frank should I or my friends need their services. Nam Nguyen

The service tech was very thorough and pleasant to deal with. He did a complete attic treatment to prevent termites as well as exterior treatment for other insects and rodents. He returned for treatment of bird nest infestation and stayed as late as he needed to in order to finish the job (even though it took him longer than anticipated to deal with my bird problems). I will continue to use their maintenance service in order to prevent the critters and pests from coming back.

Great company! John and Marcos came out for a housewide interior/exterior spray and free termite inspection. Thorough, informative, extremely reasonable price wise, and took the time also to de-cobweb the exterior or the house. Will be scheduling more service in the future!

We have been homeowners for 14 years and have never hired pest control. We recently moved to a new home that has a lot of pests and wildlife. We were happy to get lucky with Ravega pest control. Marco came out asap and explained different solutions to take control of our yard. He offered us different options for maintenance. He also noticed termites which our home was supposed to be exterminated from the "home sale" inspection. Luckily Marco took pics and I was able to send the termites pics to the other pest control to come clean up their work. Thanks to Marco we feel like have a plan to rid of our brown widows and other pests. Would happily recommend him!

Termites, ants, and bugs oh my! I Spoke with Jennifer who was a total sweetheart on the phone and she explained the Excellent Fumigation services, warranties, and what I could expect from their process. I learned that their family invented a few types to local treatments to be able to avoid tenting. Very impressive. They scheduled Enrique to do an inspection. He went everywhere and looked in every nook and cranny, crawled under the house, looked in the attic, and all around the property. He showed me where my ants were coming from and where my terminates were living. I was very impressed with their professionalism and great warranty. The service was great! They took very good care of our property and fixed a bunch of termite damage that I didn't know I had until he showed me the wood they pulled out. So I guess I'm set for the next few years. I know that if I see an buggers I know I'm covered. I would highly recommend Excellent Fumigation.

Jose did a very thorough inspection but most importantly gave correct advice. I was suspicious that needed to replace part of roof on garage as the other termite inspector said. Jose confirmed it was incorrect. Also he found dry wood termites in attic and subterranean termites on subarra. The other inspector did not because pretended as if was checking there but really did not check. Jose came with his crew and stayed all the time to finish termite treatment. Overall I received very professional termite control. I could not compare prices because the other company did not quote me for proper work but it seems reasonable. Was expecting to spend less but whatever is needed to do the job right. I trust this company they gave me signed paper of price match.

APC has been there to help me with my pest problems for the past 7 years. Their front office and techs are really easy to work with. I have never had any issues scheduling with them. Techs are always on time and they make sure to solve any issues I have before they move on to their next stop. I had a really bad ant problem in my garage and called APC to let them know and they sent a tech over the next day to take care of it. Talk about fast service! A few months ago, one of the service technicians noticed some termite activity starting to develop so he advised us on the different types of termites and set us up with one of their termite Inspectors named Ray. Ray came out and looked in our attic and subarea. He gave a few different options in which we decided to go with the non-move out termite treatments. He called his office and set us up with a treatment within 2 days. When the termite crew came, they were very respectful of the inside of our house. They went under the house and in the attics to place the product. They even did all of our exterior wall voids. All the while, we were able to stay inside the home. We're very happy with the work Active provided and would highly recommend them to take care of any pest problem.

Overall we had a great and professional service from Primex. When I sent out a request on thumbtack, Primex was the first company calling back within 10 minutes. And I guess that we were lucky enough that the inspector- Gio was around in our neighborhood; he came to do the inspection on the same day. The inspector was very patient explaining what he found as signs of termites' existence, what the solutions they had, pros and cons of the solutions, and etc. After the inspection, he sent a email with a report and a proposal in the afternoon. We were given enough time to think what solution we decided to go for. We liked not to be rushed, but to be reminded the following steps when we were too busy. About a week before the fumigation, Gio came to go through the contract, explaining pretty much verything and every questions I had to get us ready for the fumigation. On the day of the fumigation, I thought that I had bagged enough all the food and medicines that I needed. I though that I didn't need to bag the food in the fridge. Well,.....actually I was told that I needed to. However, Primex's people were very nice.....(I was tired of bagging and packing that time) helping me bagging the rest of the food in the fridge. So I could leave without worrying my undone work. After the fumigation was done, Gio came the following weekday to check and do the last liquid treatment on our fence. Fumigation sounds could be very stressful thing to do. But we were glade that everything went smoothly. Forgot to mention about the price...., we compared to terminix, it was about 20-50$ differences. So I guess that the price was reasonable. Grace from Redondo Beach

We had a problem with subterranean termites coming through a crack in the concrete slab floor. Having previously having a pin hole leak in a copper water line in the same area, we were concerned about hitting a water or gas line where drilling to attack the termites. Steve ordered a sensor to determine where the various lines were run under the slab. Their help and concern was greatly appreciated, and I highly recommend them for any termite and pest control. D. Yes, I think all homeowners don't like going through the process of getting their home inspected for termite, especially when you need to get your home tented. However, the Termite doctor made the whole process smooth and pleasant. They were very professional and did quality work. Great customer service and I appreciate them being on time and started working as soon as they arrived. Also, they completed the job as promised. I would highly recommend them. Thank you, Michelle-Tyla

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you get rid of termites?

The best way to get rid of termites is to act fast. Termites are a problem that will only get worse — and no matter how much you want them to, they usually don’t magically move out on their own. There are three main types of termites: drywood, dampwood and subterranean. Drywood and dampwood termites sneak through cracks in your exterior paint, nail holes, and gaps near windows and other openings and begin to eat through your wood. Subterranean termites enter your house from the ground up by creating mud tunnels. In all cases, they survive by eating the wood of your house. The type of termites you have can steer the treatment plan.

Methods of termite extermination include fumigation, use of pesticides, and use of natural elements that are poisonous to the bugs. The extent of your termite infestation will help determine the treatment method. If you have drywood or dampwood termites that have infiltrated all aspects of the wood in your home, the pest control pro may recommend enclosing the whole house in a tent and gassing the termites via fumigation. If you have subterranean termites, often the entire footprint of the home must be treated by drilling liquid treatments into the slab or foundation of the home to exterminate the colonies. In any case, once you see signs of termites, it’s time to take action and call a pest pro.

What are the signs of termites in your home?

When you see signs of termites in your home, call a trusted pest control professional as soon as possible to handle the situation. Termites feed on wood, meaning they eat through the wood that makes up the frame, floors and other components of your house. Most people don’t know they have termites until they discover the damage done, because termites remain hidden underground or inside the wood they are eating. Keep on the lookout for these signs of termites:

  • Water bubbles in your interior or exterior paint: If you poke at what look like paint bubbles and find termite droppings inside, it’s a sign of termite infestation.
  • Frass: This is a fancy term for termite poop. Keep your eyes peeled for what look like six-sided salt and pepper droppings.
  • Mud tubes: Subterranean termites move between their earth home and your house by building mud tunnels. Mud tubes under or along the side of your house or foundation are a sure sign of a termite infestation.
  • Wings or swarming near your home: As a new colony is looking for a home, they fly (swarm), then shed their wings and burrow into nearby wood.
  • Softening of wood or hollowed-out wood: Termites don’t like paint, lacquer varnish or other wood finishes, so they’ll eat inside the wood and leave the exterior finish like a shell.

Are termites harmful to humans?

Termites are harmful to humans in that they can eat a home from the inside out. But unlike some other insects, termites don’t carry infection, nor do they bite or feed off people like parasitic bedbugs. So while they’re not harmful to your health, they can be extremely harmful to your wallet. The EPA reports that every year termites cause billions of dollars of structural damage in the United States. Immediate action and treatment is the best approach if you see signs of termites. The national average cost for an exterminator ranges from $250 to $400, but costs may be higher if you have a whole house infestation on your hands. Here are a few examples of average cost:

  • Standard liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot. An extermination company may have a minimum service fee, such as $150, to come out and provide treatment, no matter how small the space.
  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites including foaming and drilling into concrete slabs: $4-$5 per linear foot.
  • Liquid treatment of a 2,000-square-foot home for subterranean termites: approximately $400.
  • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home. Pros measure fumigation costs in cubic feet. Fumigation costs can also be affected by the number of stories in your home.
