Luis put in a subway tile backsplash in my kitchen and did an AMAZING job! I couldn't be happier with his professionalism, efficiency, and the results of his work. The tile work is meticulous! I'd hire him again in a heartbeat.May 29, 2016Verified
This was a kitchen backsplash job with lots of detailed cuts. They were fabulous in every respect. Very professional with an amazing attention to detail. I couldn't be happier with the result. I will definitely be contacting them soon for my next tile job, just as soon as I can decide on the tile.May 17, 2016Verified

- How did you get started doing this type of work?Luis got his start in the granite and tile industry in 1997, learning the trade from some of the best tile and granite contractors on the West Coast. From humble beginnings as a laborer to running a crew and eventually overseeing the projects as a foreman, then starting out on his own, he has honed his skills and has gained a thorough understanding and respect for the craft. 18 years of working with granite and tile have given Luis an innate understanding of the material properties of the various stone types, and of the supporting construction materials and techniques. Hes seen what works and what doesnt work. Hes seen other contractors work fail and has been called to fix it. Through this unique experience, he has developed solutions and techniques to ensure the highest quality installation. Corrie had an early start in the construction world in her home state of Wisconsin, spending her early years in her fathers woodshop watching, learning, asking questions and helping out. Through the years, she was her dads helping hand as he built out the basement, did a complete tear-off and reshingling of the house roof, built fences and various outbuildings, and made custom furniture in that workshop. In college, she earned a degree in electrical engineering and went to work for an engineering consultant. After a move to California, she works for an electrical contractor, happily involved in construction on a day-to-day basis. After starting VerBraken Builders with Luis, she is responsible for the operation of the business, and assists with fabrication and construction of the remodeling jobs. We both share a passion for construction, and are happy and blessed to call it our daily work!
- What types of customers have you worked with? Our most common projects are kitchen and bathroom remodels, and is our favorite kind of work.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work? When you compare bids, please make sure you're comparing apples to apples. Some contractors are not licensed (this is mandatory) and many aren't insured (this is optional). We strongly recommend making sure your contractor is licensed AND insured. General liability insurance covers your home in the unlikely event of damage to your home or injuries caused by the contractor's work. While we have never had reason for a claim, we are glad to offer general liability coverage to our clients nonetheless to ensure your highest confidence in us.
