I think he's looking for an easy patient who he can listen to and guide easily without much effort. I described my situation to him, and he merely suggested I go looking for someone else. He failed to give me any kind of an explanation as to why "he" couldn't help me. All I'm looking for is an expert to listen to my situation, and help me to bring about some accountability in my family by giving his honest assessment of it all, and maybe some feedback. Why do the people with the proper credentials to discern and influence fear to act where needed most? I would have guessed a person would want to use their credentials to help remedy the world's problems, not to avoid them. He is the only person who responded to me on Thumbtack. Is that all you got Thumbtack? Maybe this is a newly developed network that hasn't established a larger range yet? Very discouraging, this Dr. Goodman, from what I can tell.

Please understand. I don't know you well enough to assess your situation ethically or clearly. From what you presented, I ascertained that another therapist might be better suited for this type of case especially given the legal issues involved. I did appreciate your forthrightness and felt the case to be too complex for me to take on at this time. I'm sorry if you felt that I was dismissing you but that was not my intent.
