These past two weeks I've been working with Jonathan Hartman, who has mentored me 4 hours a day learning many assorted musical techniques and ideals, both for sax and composing. It was one of the most eye opening experiences I've ever had and it will not be forgotten. I appreciate all he has done for me. He is one of the nicest and most intelligent/intellectual people I have ever met. If you are looking to go into the music business and want mentoring on saxophone, composing (any genre), music ideologies, and much much much more, get in contact with this man, I can easily say he has changed my life forever. This experience will never be forgotten. He is an incredible musician, dedicated, hard working, knowledgable and the list can go on. I highly recommend studying with Jonathan Hartman. Great guy, great teacher.

Jonathan is a very skilled professional musician, and yet he's a caring individual that would never make you feel intimidated. His lessons are fun, his rates are reasonable, and he truly puts his heart into teaching process. Every time I walk out from his lesson feeling I've progressed one step further. Highly recommended.

I feel extremely lucky to have found Jonathan. He is an incredible teacher with a huge amount of knowledge and expertise in the alto sax. His ability to teach all levels is pretty outstanding. I had a basic foundation in alto and its been exciting to see his teaching techniques improve my sound, understanding of rhythms, and music theory to new levels. Do yourself a favor and do not miss this opportunity to be taught by one of the best.

There may be other teachers out there that can read like a pro. Or, play like a God. Or, teach with the patience of Job. But, Jonathan can 'listen' like no other. His 'ear' is impeccable. Not only to the tune or style in which you'd like to play, but as to the reason you like to play in the first place. The man knows his music. But he's also a great read on those that choose to play it, pursue it, or... to just simply love it. He'll get you where you need to be. I thought Thumbtack was going to be bullshit. How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was always obsessed with music, and films. I started playing professionally as a young kid because my grandfather worked with jazz musicians, and introduced me to them at a young age. I was hooked!
What types of customers have you worked with?
For students- private teaching, providing musical examples, also technical assitance with instruments, etc. For scoring work- I compose, arrange, record, and can deliver beautiful scores that serve the film and story- ON TIME ON BUDGET EVERY TIME. :)
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Quality matters. I've been a professional musician for 25 years and had thousands of amazing musical experiences and relationships that I bring to the table. I bring creative musical ideas to the table, and the quality is very high. In this day and age, a lot of people claim to be composers, just because they played a little in a band. But composing for film & tv brings a lot of other skills into the mix that MATTER. Being generous and gracious with people, patience, knowing how to record, knowing how to leverage relationships for better pricing on budgets, the list goes on and on. I bring those unique experiences and skills to the table and I back my clients and their projects 1000%
